The Wednesday Question

What's one beauty trend (shade, color, hairstyle, makeup look, etc.) that you wish you could pull off, but can't?

For me, it would have to be pastel pinks on my lips, eyes or cheeks. When worn anywhere on my face, pastel pinks make me look like I have jaundice. Ugh. So heartbreaking! Oh, and I wish I could wear my hair in a pixie cut like Michelle Williams but, alas, I cannot.

  1. I too wish I could wear light, pastel lip colors. I also wish I could pull off red and other dark or bright color lips. I tend to stay around nude, plum, or pink.

  2. I wish I could do the pink hair trend! I loved Katy Perry's blonde bob with pink accents last summer. I could never pull that off though. That and I'm pretty sure my husband would never go for it :)

  3. Skinny jeans!!! I have bought many a pair in hopes of actually making it work. But after buying and returning about 5 pairs, I have decided that my bubble butt (cute as it may be) just looks bigger and more bubble-ish in skinny jeans. There is something about the visual of my legs tapering in that just makes my hips look wider than they really are. Oh well! Straight leg and boot cut jeans it is.. I can rock a curvy boot-cut jean like no other. ;-)

  4. Really long hair ala Housewives of ______ (fill in the blank). Long, really light blonde and curled. I was growing mine out, got sick of it, and chopped it off to about chin length. I just don't have the patience.

  5. Wear the ever so famous "orange" lipstick! I see it on others who rock it so well, yet on me... I look like a FOOL! Love the look, I simply can't pull it off! -Leslie

  6. Grow some hair on my head! I don't mean grow it long, I just wish it wasn't so fine and wispy. It's genetics, I know, since both my Mom, Grandma and all her aunts had very thin/fine hair and were extremely well-endowed in the boob dept. (I mean like DDD/E, and more!) I did inherit that, but I'd trade a few sizes for some hair!

    1. As a friend of mine once said, "if you can't grow it, sew it!" Extensions, my love.......

  7. A bold red lip. I've never found *quite* the perfect shade, and as a result feel clownish when I try it. Argh! :)

  8. Acrylic nails and cut creased eyeshadow. I just don't love the upkeep with have gel nails on, going to the salon every 2 weeks and since I have almond shaped eyes with a fairly small lid space, no one would be able to see my cut crease anyway. I'm kind of a blendingaholic anyway. :-)

  9. Skinny jeans, bright red lipss.. Any earring besides a stud :( I guess I am more of a natural low key person that those trends don't work for me!

  10. I third the skinny jeans and second the bright orange lips. I can't tolerate any kind of fake nails or weave though :/

  11. Bright, pastel lipsticks! I would love to wear viva glam nikki or schiap, but im too olive. Also bright blue eyeshadow!

  12. Nude lip. And I don't mean wearing nothing on my lips. But like a nude lip gloss or lipstick. I look absolutely DEAD.

On the plus side, I can pull off the bright red or hot pink lip!

  13. I would love to have ombre hair. But I can't. I process my hair chemically and that's enough damage.

  14. Bright colored eyeshadows, pastel/bold lip colors, cropped tops, and anything strapless because I, sadly, do not have the goods to hold them up.

  15. Skinny jeans, drop waisted dresses, and green nail polish. Oh, and bangs of any kind, it's really unfortunate, they're so popular right now too!

  16. Winged eyeliner. My eyes are just the wrong shape, either my hooded lids cover it, or it is at a really weird and unflattering angle. Quite frustrating.

  18. The half-moon manicure. I've tried doing it on many occasions, and I've seen tons of tutorials. Every time I try it the moons are either crooked or the top color bleeds through. Also, I cannot figure out what shade of lipstick looks good on me. I have dark brown hair, blue eyes, and every lipstick I try looks weird and fake. Sigh.

    1. you should try Reinforcements for Hole-Punched Paper, they work like a charm!

    3. I saw your entry on that and I loved it! I do the hole-punched stickers, but I can't get them on straight. I'll give it another shot though. I love the moon manicure so much.

  19. Super long hair. Mine always gets bad if I get it too long ie. I've never made it to the elbows without cutting it off.

  20. The Pixie haircut, a la Emma Watson and especially Ginnifer Goodwin. I love Goodwin's haircuts generally. I have a long face, so very short hair doesn't suit me.

  21. Bright eye shadow colors....I'm just too scared to use them lol

  22. Those front braids that go right along your hairline and forehead. I can never get it to look right on me but it looks so pretty in pictures. Also pixie cuts, red lips and pink eyeshadow.

  23. Nude lipsticks. They totally don't work on me.

  24. I cannot for the life of me pull of pastel lips.,,. I guess olive skin and pastel lips don't go together. Also, I can't do skinny jeans or cat eye makeup. I can do lifted winged liner but not the cat eye... The elongated eye look does not flatter me at all.

Bright side: I can do red and dark lips :-)

  26. Weird, but Kardashian style lashes (where they look very fake, but in an uneven, un-uniform, wispy, natural-esque way)...*sigh* I like spider lashes (but not clumpy)

  28. Bright funky hair color. My job prevents it! Also, any lipstick looks strange to me. I have this awesome pink but I think I look strange with color on my lips of any kind.

  29. I cannot pull off bright red glossy lips. I have tried a bazillion colors and yet have not found my "perfect red". Also I am the only blonde that I know that simply cannot wear pink near my face! Make up yes, tops and tees not so much! I love the new neon pink t shirts but so wrong on me!

  30. Blue-based pink lips or any sort of pastels-- it definitely needs to be part of the coral family or it's an absolute no-go.

...Never stops me from buying tubes of pretty lipstick I'll never wear, though.
