This week's question is short and sweet:
What's your favorite hand cream?
I'm asking this because I seem to have three or four that I like, but nothing that I really
love at the moment. Do you have a holy grail hand cream that you prefer above all others, or do you use whatever you have lying around? Or maybe you're like me and you have 3 or 4 that you like, but nothing you're really wild about? I'd love to know your answer to this question, so please share it with us!
One I always fall back on is the Hemp Hand Cream from The Body Shop-- it's excellent! I really wish it weren't in a metal tube though. There are some good ones I've used that are close faves of mine too: Yes To Tomatoes has a reaaaaaally good one, and so does Caudalie (Hand & Nail Cream), but it's kinda pricey for a hand cream. The Caudalie hand cream smells like a bowl of Fruit Loops to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same as you...I just have a bunch and I may or may not use them. When my hands get very dry in the winter I may splurge on Aveda Hand Relief, but it doesn't last very long. Aveda products lack water in them (shampoo, conditioner, etc) which is supposed to make them "more concentrated" but a lotion without water means that you need a lot for one use!
ReplyDeleteI've tried all sorts of lotions and creams, since I can't stand dry skin and I usually itch if I don't moisturize. Hands-down, my favorite hand cream is by Cetaphil. They have a regular lotion, too, but it's just okay. Their cream, however? SO thick and rich. It really soaks into my skin and stays there for hours. It comes in a good-sized tub, too, and you can get it at Costco for about $17 (it lasts for months and I use mine two or three times a day) or a slightly smaller tub at the drugstore for about the same price.
ReplyDeleteI have a sensitive nose so I try to avoid excessively fragrant lotions/hand creams/body butters. The ones from Bath and Body Works are often too greasy and sometimes... I'm afraid someone's dog will mistakenly think that I'm a frutiy chew toy. I really like Jergens's Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer. Works miracles for my hands.
ReplyDeletei love the La Source Hand Recovery Cream followed up by the La Source Hand Therapy Cream from Crabtree & Evelyn. it is amazing and smells really fresh and light. they sell it in a kit and it lasts forever b/c you only need a little bit. the recovery cream is an exfoliator you apply dry and just rub all over your hands then rinse off with water. you put the therapy cream on and it's absolute heaven! totally worth the price. they make a different scent that is more earthy (i think geared more towards men) that my friend's husband uses and he likes it a lot too.

Neutrogena hand cream is my all time fave :)
ReplyDeleteCurel! I friggin' love, love Curel.
ReplyDeleteI reviewed it on my blog. In fact, I have even talked to nurses who love it. My sister also like Gold Bond lotion, but is does a lot of handwashing (nurse).
Avon Silicone Glove is THE only hand cream that keeps my hands nice and soft after washing dishes, cleaning and other random things I do to beat up my hands!
ReplyDeleteAveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream.
ReplyDeleteWinter, multiple hand washing between patients, latex gloves, lead to painful, red, itchy badness. This stuff is non-greasy and lasts between the washings! It's not terribly expensive and lasts.it can take raw, chapped hands and heal them and prevent further discomfort. Yay!
Hmm, I just use plain, old, reliable, Jergens :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have any good affordable face moisturizer tips?
Burt's Bees Almond Milk Hand Cream. It's a tad gooey, but I just use it when I'm not doing much, like before I go to bed. You can tell that it really absorbs into your skin, though, it doesn't just sit on top. And it smells SO GOOD. I seriously fight the urge to taste it, just a little, every time I use it! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI really take what I get my hands on. For example, I didn't like the Olay Complete SPF 30 moisturizer, so I ended up putting the bottle on my purse to use it as a hand moisturizer.
ReplyDeleteI do love Nivea's_Soft Cream. I bought the little pot to also have it at hand when needed.
I still haven't found a great one. I'll check out some of the recs given here. =)
WOW, ladies! Thank you so so so much for all of your wonderful responses! I now have a ton of new products to try, which equates to new reviews in the future! Again, thank you so much. I really appreciate you all taking the time to leave such detailed responses. I just know that I will find my holy grail somewhere in this list! xo
