NEW ChapStick Hydration Lock Lip Balm in Vanilla Creme
(retail: around $2.99, 0.15 oz)
As you can see, sodium hyaluronate is the second-to-last ingredient in this formula (there's actually more "flavor" in this product than sodium hyaluronate). I'm not sure how much plumping it can do since it seems to contain so little S.H. in proportion to the rest of the ingredients, but let's move on...
PROS:
- Very creamy texture with a smooth, silky feel on the lips
- Good staying power (I can get about four hours of wear before I can no longer feel this balm on my lips)
- Smell and flavor are absolutely delightful; not a pure vanilla scent/flavor to me, but more of a vanilla and coconut cream flavor/scent
- My lips feel very smooth and hydrated while I'm wearing this product
CONS:
- Does not deliver "8 hours" of "moisture; I get about four hours of moisture and once this product wears off, my lips revert back to their normal state
- No lasting effects (for me personally) after using this product for two weeks
- No visible plumping effect (for me personally)
- No SPF (if you prefer SPF in your lip balms, you'll probably want to reserve this one for nighttime use only)
THE LAST BITE: I absolutely love how this lip balm feels while I'm wearing it. It's extremely creamy and silky-smooth and my lips feel wonderfully hydrated while I'm wearing it. However, the promise of "8 hours of moisture" failed me. I can get about four hours of moisture, tops, before I need to reapply. I also haven't experienced any lasting effects after using this product for two weeks. I adore the flavor/scent (vanilla and coconut cream) and because it feels so nice when it's actually on my lips, I do not regret my purchase. Bottom line: It's a nice lip balm with a wonderful feel and delicious flavor/scent, but the hydration I experience only lasts for the duration of the time I'm wearing it (about four hours).
ChapStick Hydration Lock Lip Balm is now available at Walgreens (that's where I purchased my tube) and probably other retailers across the nation. You can also purchase it online.

I love chapsticks that have a medicinal purpose.
ReplyDeleteI tend to keep buying/losing/finding all my lip balm chap stick things. No idea where my Sweet Mint EOS is...need to find this Chapstick section of Walgreens with this Lypsyl stuff I've never sen before except here on NC.... That's my excuse for buying these repeatedly, I've never finished one! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Lypsyl is likely to be in the same isle as the cough & cold remedies. :)
DeleteIve become quite the lip balm addict myself. I own so many yet I can't stop buying them, lol. As tempted as I am, I think I'll be skipping this one... thanks the info G!
ReplyDeleteI saw these at Walgreens the other day but I passed them by thinking they may be like regular old Chapstick which I am not crazy about. I am obsessed with Carmex lips balms. I like the creamy silky and slightly think feeling of the them. Everytime they are on sale I pick up a couple. I am however ready for a new flavor. If anyone thinks this is similar to the Carmex stick please let me know and I would get it for the flavor!!!
ReplyDeleteI too am a lipbalm junkie and bought this for it's scent as I love vanilla scented products and it's 8 hour moisture promise. I too love the scent but I was disappointed by the rest. I took it with me to Europe and tried to use it as my overnight lip treatment and it just didn't cut it. It's fine for under lipstick, etc, but didn't cut it otherwise. Couldn't wait to get back stateside to use my other lip balms.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, I just got one of these in my October birchbox! I agree, love the scent/flavor and how it feels on my lips. :)
ReplyDeleteI just got this in my October birch box, I loooooooove it! I usually hate vanilla, but this one is good. It doesn't last 8 hrs though, not even an hour. Lol. It's cold out thou, maybe it will work better in summer weather.
