Wet n Wild Limited Edition On the Prowl
Fast Dry Nail Color Collection
(retail: $1.99 each, 0.46 oz)
(retail: $1.99 each, 0.46 oz)
When I first showed you the press release and image (above) for Wet n Wild's 2011 LE Halloween collection, On the Prowl, I had NO IDEA this collection was going to be filled with this much goodness. For a drugstore Halloween nail polish collection, there are lots of unexpected colors and textures here.
This collection contains two "nail art top coats". Please note that those two shades are actually just regular polishes (the words "nail art" always make me think of slim bottles with tiny, narrow brushes, but that's not the case with these--they're just regular polishes in standard bottles). Also, even though there's a white polish in the above photo, there is actually not a white polish in this collection--I received all eight shades and there's no white here.
NOTE: Just like the Dream Weavers map, I have created an interactive map to help you locate On the Prowl in your area. If you spot this collection, please leave a marker on the map and share your info with others!
THIS COLLECTION IS SCHEDULED TO HIT DRUGSTORES MID-AUGUST. AS WITH ALL OTHER WET N WILD COLLECTIONS, I CANNOT TELL YOU EXACTLY WHICH STORES WILL CARRY ON THE PROWL, SO CHECK THE STORES IN YOUR AREA THAT USUALLY CARRY LE WNW COLLECTIONS.
(All swatches photographed without top coat.)
Jungle Fever
This one required two coats for perfect opacity. Jungle Fever is a cross between army green and golden olive. It's like the Fall/Winter alternative to Ocean Grotto.
Buy Me A Drink
Buy Me A Drink required three coats for good opacity. This is a rich, wine-colored shade with a pretty, hidden shimmer that comes out in certain lights.
Cougar Attack
Being of "cougar age" myself, I had to giggle at the name of this one! Anyway, Cougar Attack
is unlike any other polish I have ever seen at the drugstore. Packed
with orangey-copper glitter, what makes this polish so divine is that
the base is a charcoal-gray jelly. You can enlarge these pics for a
better look.
What I love the most about this one
is that it only required TWO coats for what you see here. Tons of
sparkle with minimal effort = perfection.
I had to throw in an extra pic of this one because I just LOVE the way this one sparkles in the sun:
Correction Tape
I told you this collection was full of unexpected shades! You just don't see a lot of multi-colored glitter polishes in Halloween collections. In these pics, I swatched Correction Tape next to Party of Five Glitters (from the core collection) so you can see the differences (two coats of each polish were used in all pics).
Here are biggest differences that I can see:
- Party of Five Glitters contains small, medium and large hexagonal glitter.
- Correction Tape contains medium-sized hexagonal glitter and medium-sized square glitter.
- Party of Five Glitters contains green glitter.
- Correction Tape does not contain green glitter.
- Party of Five Glitters has a watery base and less-densely-packed glitter.
- Correction Tape contains a less-watery base and more densely-packed glitter.
Behind Closed Doors
Behind Closed Doors required three coats, BUT OH IS IT WORTH THE EFFORT! This one's got that same charcoal gray jelly base that Cougar Attack has, but instead of copper glitter, it's loaded with large and small hexagonal red glitter.
Here's a better look at the charcoal gray jelly base--it TOTALLY makes this polish:
Tangled In My Web
Here's a fun one that's just screaming to be layered: hexagonal, flat (non-shimmery) black glitter in a clear base. I used two coats on bare nails for these pics.
Ready To Pounce
Ready To Pounce is a deep, vampy purple with hidden shimmer. This one required two coats for perfect opacity. You can really see the hidden shimmer in this pic:
Ink Well
Probably the most "predictable" shade in this Halloween collection, I would classify Ink Well as a true, jet black jelly-creme and it required two coats for good opacity (although you might be able to get away with one thick coat if you were in a hurry).
The interactive map to help you locate On The Prowl in your area is located here.
What do you think of this collection? Do you spot any must-haves here? Honestly, I think everything aside from Ink Well is a must-have, but that's just me. I didn't think Wet n Wild could top Mermaid's Cove, but I think they have really outdone themselves with this one.

Correction Tape is awesome! :)
ReplyDelete*jaw drop*
ReplyDeleteplease, please, pleeeeeeeaaaasssseeeee let these be available in Canada! These are all awesome! Thanks for promptly posting.
ReplyDeleteI am in luv with behind close doors. It looks like blood splatters to me! Thx again for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteomg those are amazing! I need all of them minus the deep purple & black!! I think a CVS Trip may be calling my name soon! They are the only store that carries the LE collections, Rite Aid & Walgreens, not so much.
ReplyDeletefingers crossed a store near me actually gets this, not holding my breath though :(
ReplyDeleteI need the glitters (except for the one that looks like part of 5 glitters)
Woo! Some of these will need to join my collection. I am really enjoying wet and wild lately... reminds me of being 13 years old again!!
ReplyDeleteMust have for me would be Cougar Attack and Behind Closed Doors.Great post thank!
ReplyDeleteThey look awesome! I hope we get them down here. How does Cougar Attack compare to SH Pumpkin Spice? They seem to be very similar.
ReplyDeleteG, you said that Tangled in My Web is over bare nails. How the heck do you keep your nails so white? Mine are yellow from wearing polish. Until I read it, I assumed TIMW was over a sheer white creme. I need your secret to remove the stains! lol
ReplyDeleteWow, not a dud among them. They all look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love Behind Closed Doors!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first heard about these I didn't really care, was happy to let them pass. Now that I've seen what they actually are I feel totally different! There's quite a few I'd like to pick up!
ReplyDeletePumpkin Spice is extremely transparent, and the glitter is much more sparse. I did 5 coats of Pumpkin Spice, and it still wasn't opaque. Definitely a layering color.
ReplyDeleteOh! Want! So much!
ReplyDeleteMy local CVS just started carrying Wet-n-Wild! I shopped the new display, today. And they have products that Walgreen's won't carry. (Six pan Color Icon palettes, gel liner.) I am holding out hope that maybe they will start getting the LE collections at CVS. *fingers crossed*
Do these polishes feel smooth or gritty after a couple of coats? Specifically the Cougar Attack and Behind Closed Doors colors. They look amazing!
ReplyDeleteBehind Closed Doors literally made my jaw drop. MINE!
ReplyDeleteCougar Attack looks like what Sally Hansen was attempting to do with... Pumpkin Spice (I think that's the name...)
I have SUCH a hard time finding any limited edition WNW (or Sally Hansen for that matter- cough Pumpkin Spice, cough!) I'm so excited for the map because I missed Mermaid's Cove completely (and not for lack of trying, trust me!), so thank you in advance for organizing that. I seriously hope I can get my hands on a couple of these because all things Halloween I adore!
ReplyDeleteThey are really hitting it out of the park with these collections! Correction Tape, Behind Closed Doors, Tangled In My Web and Ready to Pounce look great. I am really excited to see the black glitter in Tangled In My Web though! So unique for the drugstore. I think Behind Closed Doors is the real winner for me. I am a total sucker for an interesting black, especially with glitter!
ReplyDeleteI'll be cleaning this whole collection out...must have Cougar Attack and Correction Tape.
ReplyDeleteBuy Me a Drink is calling my name. I am not into glittery polish though...I bought Party of Five and I am not feeling it...TY truly for the great pics and review!!! Still haven't found the Mermaid line yet.
ReplyDeleteI even asked if the stores had Halloween stuff yet when I visited a couple of Walgreens today. Nothing yet, but I'm going to ask every time I stop into one.
ReplyDeleteSquare glitter? Seriously?? Gemmee!!!
Super excited for these! Ahhhh!!
ReplyDeleteIf I can find these I'm snagging at least Cougar Attack, Tangled in My Web, and Correction Tape.
oooh!! love how theres so many glitters!!! :D cant wait until they come to my stores. do you think we could do map for this too?
ReplyDeleteWet n Wild, quit screwing with my no-buy goals!! ):
ReplyDeleteI cant wait!!!
ReplyDeleteI want them all. ;_; So bad. ;_; Unfortunately they're so hard to find around here, but I'm definitely going to look!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your gorgeous swatches, as always. <3
I want them all. ;_; So bad. ;_; Unfortunately they're so hard to find around here, but I'm definitely going to look!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your gorgeous swatches, as always. <3
Um, Behind Closed Doors, are you kidding me? And let's not forget now amazing glitters look with a matte topcoat over them....I must have!
ReplyDeleteI will take one of each please!! I hope I have better luck finding this collection. I still never found Mermaid's Cove collection. :( *crosses fingers*
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get these. But seriously, there's NO WAY you're cougar age. no way. I thought you're in your 20's. I'm way older than that. anyway, i'll be looking for these anytime!!
ReplyDeleteDying / Foaming at the mouth for Correction Tape and Tangled in My Web. Who would have thought I would be more excited about WnW polishes this season than my usual standbys of Essie and OPI! Loving WnW picking up their game! Thanks so much for posting!!
ReplyDeleteI hope my rite aid or cvs gets this. Usually my CVS is the one that gets LE collections but Rite Aid got the Dreamweavers collection. But CVS usually gets halloween collections and I think Walgreens does too. MAybe even in past yrs ive seen it at Walmart.
ReplyDeleteI am going to HAVE to get Behind Closed Doors. So vampy! Love it!!!! Is it Halloween yet? Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI NEED ALL OF THESE BUT WHERE DO I GET THEM!? *cries*
ReplyDeleteGotta say that I dont usually bother with halloween displays but you can bet your bottom dollar that i will be purchasing several of these babies! I love them all but cant decide yet which ones to get. Wouldnt it be nice if WNW had a bogo or bogo half around the time these hit the stores!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks G.
Digging the glitters! Must start hunting!
ReplyDeleteBehind Closed Doors is bad ass. That's definitely the one that's going to come home with me (if I'm able to find the collection in my area), and maybe even Ready to Pounce.
ReplyDeleteI love that Wet n' Wild bucked the norm and released a vampy collection perfect for fall, but not confined to the box of "Halloween." They're the only drugstore brand I consistently purchase even through my "no buy" phases. :)
Can not wait for this collection to come out. I really hope we get it at our drugstores.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up tangled in my web and jungle fever for a friend at Harmon here in NJ....
ReplyDeleteThis collection is way better than I was expecting! Loving Cougar Attack, Tangled in My Web, and Behind Closed Doors!
ReplyDeleteLOVING tangled in my web & behind closed doors. Better be able to find these!!!
ReplyDeleteWent to 12 local CVS stores today, but none of them had it. :( CVS is the only store around here that ever carries the LE WnW colors. I was able to nab 4 colors from Mermaid's Cove (Went to close to 20 stores to find Waves of Enchantment...oh my addiction), so hopefully I have the same luck with this collection!! I want them ALL minus the black.
ReplyDeletecougar attack is lovely! Such a great fall shade. fingers crossed I find it at my drugstore!
ReplyDeleteI just got these polishes a few days ago and I can't wait to try out Behind Closed Doors. And wow, thanks for the warning about the three coats.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jungle Fever and Correction Tape might make a great combo!
Found them at Harmon's, as I see someone mentioned already above.
ReplyDeleteHarmon's seems to always get the new LE collections before ANY other store so if you have one, check it out.
I added it to the map.
O.O OHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need this whole collection!!! I never found Mermaid's Cove or Inked though so I'm really worried! These polishes are so amazing - I will be stalking the drug stores like usual but now this is my #1 most sought after display. I NEED these! :D Thank you so much for the beautiful swatches! <3
ReplyDeleteBehind Closed Doors and Ready To Pounce = Love
ReplyDeleteToo bad WnW is not available where I live, as these really seem gorgeous :(
Um. I need these polishes in my life. I went to CVS & Walgreens last night but neither had 'weenie displays out yet.
ReplyDeleteMy must haves? Tangled In My Web (the layering possibilitiesomg!), Behind Closed Doors, Correction Tape & Ready To Pounce.
Just wish I hadn't bought Glitter Party of Five last night because Correction Tape is so much more of what I was hoping for (more tightly packed glitter). I did GPoF as an accent nail last night and had to do like three thick coats to get close to the coverage I wanted. :/
I've given up trying to hunt this down. No one around me carries any of the wet n wild limited edition sets, and I was told by the 5 CVS that they were no longer going to carry Wet N wild products. (I don't know if this is just in Texas or what)needless to say, because of this I've missed out on both Go for the Gold, and now On the Prowl. Also, I've been looking at some pictures and Behind Closed doors looks like it could be a dupe for Deborah Lippmanns Ruby Red slippers. I can't verify since I have neither [:
