As you all know, I don't review higher-end products here on Nouveau Cheap unless they're value sets or there's a way to get them at a discount. So when I received the new LORAC Summer 2016 eyeliner trio, I said, "Heck YES, I'll review that!"
You know I adore the Front of the Line PRO Eye Pencils (the staying power on these is fantastic, even on my oily skin), and this new set is a great value at $30. You get three full-size liners (retail price for just one Front of the Line PRO Eye Pencil is $20), which means you're getting them for $10 each instead of $20 each. That's aligned with drugstore pricing when you think about the price of drugstore products these days.
This set is now available on the LORAC site HERE (free samples and shipping on all orders), online at Nordstrom HERE (free shipping and samples on all beauty orders), online at Dermstore HERE (free shipping and samples with all orders), in-store and online HERE at Ulta (free deluxe LORAC Cobra Mascara with any $25+ LORAC purchase as of the time of this post) , as well as in-store and online HERE at Kohl's.
So let's take a look:
LORAC Summer 2016 TAKE ME TO TANtego Front of the Line PRO Eye Pencil Set
(retail: $30; $60 value)
From the LORAC website:
Get lost in paradise with the LORAC Take Me to TANtego Front of the Line PRO Eye Pencil Set. This highly-pigmented, ultra-smooth, waterproof formula provides vibrant color that doesn’t budge, whether you’re laying out in the sun or making a splash in the ocean. Add pops of color to your look with the three limited edition shades in Antique Gold, Rose Bronze, and Teal. Each shade consists of a wearable brown base that is infused with finely-milled, shimmering pearls to give your eyes that extra sparkle. The attached sharpener helps you achieve clean, precise lines from very fine to dramatically bold. Get ready for endless exotic days and nights in TANtego with LORAC.
Antique Gold, Rose Bronze, Teal
One of my favorite types of eyeliner is automatic pencil (I despise sharpening) and I love that the Front of the Line liners are twist-ups.
Teal, Rose Bronze, Antique Gold
All three of these liners contain fine glitter. On the eye, the glitter is most prominent in the Teal shade, which has a blackened base with blue and teal glitter, while Rose Bronze and Antique Gold have more of a metallic base with glitter.
These next swatches are not as color-accurate (they were taken at my kitchen sink in funky lighting) but I wanted to show you a quick rub test:
The photo above was taken after I ran cold water over my hand. You can see that there was no running or bleeding.
As for the shades of these liners, I love them all. They're colorful and fun for summer, but still a bit muted (they're not in-your-face wild, bright shades), making them very wearable for all ages. The glitter in these shades is sparkly on the eye, but not garish. I have worn these alone, and also over eyeshadow, and they work great both ways. I think they're perfect for those lazy summer days when you don't want to apply shadow but still want a little pop of color and sparkle. But they're also stunning for an evening look paired with eyeshadows.
Pigmentation on these is excellent. The very first time I used them, they needed an extra swatch or two to get going (pretty common with pencil liners) but after that, I was able to get one-swipe color with these, no problem. I also love the texture and smoothness of these pencils. They glide onto the skin like silk, and even with the added glitter, they're not chunky, weird, or dry.
Staying power for me was exactly like the regular Front of the Line PRO Eye Pencils. I've talked about this before, but I truly love these liners because they stay put on my oily skin all day with no fading, smudging, or pooling up in outside corners of my eyes. I always find it a little amazing, given how smooth and silky they are, that they can stay put like that, because some other long-wear pencils of this nature migrate and run within hours for me.
I also want to mention that I didn't experience any glitter migration when wearing these liners. I think one time, after about 8 hours of wear, I noticed one speck of glitter under my eye, but that was it.
FINAL VERDICT: If you're looking for some fun eyeliners to add to your summer wardrobe, and you want color and sparkle in a wearable but not crazy-extreme way, these would be a perfect fit. The shades are colorful yet still a bit muted, making them great for any age. I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about these, and I see myself reaching for them all summer long, especially on those hot days when I need to make sure my liner won't run, smudge, and fade, even while wet. The staying power on my oily skin can't be beat.

I love the color on these, they are so fun, never tried Lorac liner before. The price are great for 3 full size, I might have to try them. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome! I think you're going to love these if you end up trying them. Please keep me posted? :)
DeleteThe teal liner looks like it would be perfect with the Mac Blue Brown pigment or the several other eyeshadows that are that similar color.
ReplyDeleteOh, good call! I bet it would! :)
DeleteJust added these to my Ulta wish list. Thanks, G!
ReplyDeleteAww, you're so welcome, Jammies! I think you're going to love this set. :)
DeleteWowwwww, beautiful colors! I thought they were 'okay' in the pencil, but the swatches are super beautiful. Thank you for sharing them G!
ReplyDeleteI agree! They really come alive when on the skin. And you're so welcome! :)
DeleteI got these at Kohl's a few weeks ago and they are excellent. The Rose Bronze is my favorite because I don't have anything like it in my collection. Your review is spot on because they are indeed waterproof and last all day. I love them and glad I bought them.
ReplyDeleteOh nice!!! I'm so very glad you like them too, and that you agree with my review. Thanks so much, Carol! :)
DeleteThe picture of the pencils says "made in Korea" on the pencil.
ReplyDeleteOh good call! I didn't even see that! I guess the box is in reference to where the actual SET was assembled! Will update my post. Thanks!
DeleteI'm so happy for a review!!!!! Also the colors are really pretty! Next time I am at Kohls I am going to get these. I love a little glitter on my eyes but with contacts it's usually a no go. One question G., did you use a primer underneath?
ReplyDeleteAww, I'm so glad you liked that I posted another review, R.! And I did NOT use primer underneath! These have incredible staying power without primer, and pigmentation too! I'm wondering, since I didn't get any fallout with the glitter, if these would be OK for contacts? I can't guarantee that, but fingers crossed if you try them!
DeleteI wish you would show us a pic of you wearing them on your eyes.
ReplyDeleteRandi, I wish I did too! I have about 8,000 product reviews I'm trying to work on right now (I kid, but it's A LOT) and face pics take me forever to get right. I just don't have time to do it right now, but hopefully I will get caught up soon and can return to taking pics on my eyes, cheeks, and lips. I'm so, so sorry about that!
