Currently Rocking My World: L'Oreal EverPure 8-in-1 Color Miracle Leave-In Spray

Some of the very best tips and recs that I have ever received in my life when it comes to beauty (and other things!) have come from you. Without getting all mushy on you, I really can't say enough how much I treasure each and every one of you, and how grateful I am for your willingness to share your wisdom with our little community.

I owe this entire post to reader Cathy on Facebook, who recommended this product to me after we were discussing this leave-in conditioner that I reviewed a while back (which I still love, but it didn't deliver the detangling that It's a Ten Miracle Leave-In is known for). That's when Cathy recommended THIS one to me:

L'Oreal EverPure 8-in-1 Color Miracle Leave-In Spray
(retail: $5.99 - $8.99 depending on the retailer, 6.7 oz.)

Cathy mentioned that this was the closest thing she had found to It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In at the drugstore, so naturally I had to run out and buy it. I found it about a month ago at my local Kmart, but you can pretty much buy it everywhere (Target, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Walmart, etc.).

So with that, here's my full review (spoiler alert: you'll see my hair after using this product)...

NOTE: You most certainly do not have to have color-treated hair to use this product, although it may benefit your hair if it IS color-treated.

Standard spray nozzle

Claims

Notice it says, "Spray once or twice on damp hair." Yeah...I completely ignored that (more on that later).

Made in USA

Some of the ingredients got cut off in my pic, so here's the full list from Drugstore.com:
Water, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Amodimethicone, PPG-5-Ceteth-10 Phosphate, Polyquaternium-37, Phenoxyethanol, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Acetamide MEA, Fragrance, Lactamide MEA, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, Butylene Glycol, PPG-1 Tridecth-6, Trideceth-6, Behentrimonium Chloride, Xylose, Ethylhexylglycerin, Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Sodium Hydroxide, Linalool, Benzophenone-4, Benzyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Limonene, Tocopherol, Geraniol, Citronellol

The second ingredient in this product is coconut oil (love that!) but this product in no way feels greasy in my hair (more on that in a moment). And speaking of my hair...

Welcome to Frizz City, where no one enjoys their stay.

This is a "before" pic that I often refer to when I'm talking about haircare products. This pic was taken for a haircare review I did here on the blog back in 2011, and it's bascially what my hair looks like when I use a standard shampoo and conditioner and NO styling products.

As you can see, I'm prone to frizz. My hair is long and naturally wavy. The texture of my hair is fine, but I have a lot of it. My roots are oily and my ends are dry, and my hair is also color-treated. With the RIGHT styling product, my waves can fall into loose ringlets...

My hair last week
(after using L'Oreal EverPure 8-in-1 Color Miracle Leave-In Spray)

So last week Mr. G and I were grocery shopping and he mentioned to me that my hair looked really pretty. He offered to take a pic of the back of my hair so that I could see, and that's the pic you see above. I used no other styling treatments in my hair that day--ONLY the L'Oreal spray.

As you can see, I have the beachy-wave thing happening here, and my loose curls are defined, without looking crunchy. Again, this is not the natural state of my hair--if I don't use the right styling product, it looks exactly like that "before" pic above. So basically I can end this review right here and say yeah, this leave-in is rocking my world. The End. But let me tell you a few more things, because you know I'm wordy like that.

What I love about this product: First of all, it smells like 7-Up. Fresh, citrusy, and I swear I even get a little "bubbly" note here. Second, unless I REALLY overdo it, this product does not make my hair greasy or sticky. I have never gotten "the crunch" from this product, but one time I sprayed A LOT into my wet hair (I'm talking 20+ sprays to the right side and 20+ sprays to the left side) and by the end of the day, my hair did feel a little gummy. Third, this product does not weigh my fine hair down at all, and it REALLY DOES DETANGLE. Seriously, it detangles like a freaking champ. Much better than this one, and almost (almost!) as well as It's A Ten Miracle Leave-In.

Here's how I've been using it: Right after shampooing and conditioning, immediately when I get out of the shower, I wrap my head in a towel and go about my other business. After a few minutes, I remove my hair from the towel and apply about 10 sprays to each side of my hair (for a total of 20 sprays altogether). I only apply this product from my ears down, since I have oily roots and I basically never use any styling product on my roots. The amount of product that YOU use is obviously going to vary depending on the length and thickness of your hair but, as I always say, start slowly the first time. Try just a few sprays the first time, and if that doesn't work for you, build up the next time and use a few more until you find the perfect amount. I hate whenever anyone says: "This product didn't work at all for me" and I come to find out they only used it once, and used waaaay too much (or too little) for their hair type.

So after application, I use my Wet Brush to brush it through, give my hair a couple of good scrunches, and allow it to air-dry (I always, always air-dry my hair because that's just what works best for me, plus I'm lazy). The result is exactly what you see above, and that pic that Mr. G took was taken at the end of the day (around 9PM). Pretty great, right? My naturally wavy hair has some nice, loose ringlets and the waves are well-defined with no extra weight, crunch, or greasiness. In addition to how it helps define my waves, my hair just overall feels softer, fuller, bouncier and healthier whenever I use this product. What more could I possibly ask for?

One more thing: I have been using this every time I wash my hair for almost a month now, and I have not experienced any build-up or breakouts (sometimes styling products break me out on my cheeks and this has not happened with this product).

FINAL VERDICT: If your hair is anything like mine (or even if it's not) and you're looking for a solid leave-in conditioner at the drugstore, I think this one is definitely worth a shot. I am beyond pleased with how this product is working for my hair, and it's by far my favorite drugstore leave-in conditioner currently in my bathroom (and I have quite a few--trust me). I will DEFINITELY repurchase when I run out (speaking of which, it will take me a while to run out since this is a nice, generous 6.7 oz bottle). EverPure goes on sale all the time at the drugstores, so wait for the next sale and you'll be able to score this for around $5.99 or less if you have coupons/store rewards. Thank you so very much, Cathy, for the awesome reccomendation--I'm positive that I would have never even considered this one had it not been for you!

  1. I'm pretty much convinced by your review (something that happens basically ALL the time) and I'm gonna try this! I've had my hair colored for some years and it lost its ability to get beachy curls while air drying. Last year I changed my hair from red to light brown (my natural color is dark brown) because the red was ruining my hair and it was frizzy as hell. It's been a year since and my hair has improved, but I still haven't found a good leave-in conditioner for air drying. This one gives me hope! Fingers crossed!

    2. Hi again! :) I've already used the product on three occasions. The first time, I divided my hair in two parts and sprayed the product 5-6 times on each part. Although it did create some waves, it didn’t work so well and not all my hair had defined curls.

The second time I did things differently and more aggressively. I divided my hair in four parts, I sprayed the product 5 times on each part, and scrunched it many more times. What a difference! My hair looked amazing, like when I was in high school and at the beginning of college! My mom complimented my hair and she loved it. And I also loved it!

Now, the third time really sucked, but it was because of the weather. I did the exact same procedure from the second time. However, my hair didn’t air dry properly because the day was kinda rainy (which was a miracle because we have a drought right now and rain has been scarce) and there was a lot of humidity going on. My curls were not defined and my hair looked frizzy. I wasn’t pleased with it. My Mom hated it. But at least I didn’t waste my time blowing out my hair because humidity would’ve also ruined it.

In conclusion, I’m very pleased with the product and I’ll keep using it! I’m so happy that I could finally find something that really works for my color-treated hair. I think I’m also gonna review it on my blog. Thank you so much for making us aware of this great product! It is a game changer! :D

  2. You had me at the pic of your hair, which looks gorgeous, but "smells like 7-Up" has me not waiting for a sale! :-)

    1. Lol!! First of all, thank you!! :) And second, the fragrance! OMG at first I was like, "What does this remind me of??" And then it hit me that it was 7-Up. So zingy and refreshing! I'd love to know what you think if you try it, Jammies!

  3. Revving car up to go buy this STAT! Okay, so I'll probably wait until tomorrow, but I must get my hands on this. I don't use styling products on a regular basis, but my hair needs something to help with the frizzies. My hair is much like yours, G: oily at roots, drier on ends, and naturally wavy (sometimes it's borderline curly, especially when it's shorter in length). I avoid my blow dryer simply because it's a pain to dry my hair (it takes forever) and it's too hot in my tiny bathroom to deal with more heat from appliances.

Especially since I've jumped into the world of silver hair (at least it looks like nice highlights), frizzies have become a problem. Products seem to weigh my hair down but not help the problem.

So... I cannot wait to try this product!

    1. Lol!! Right now, tomorrow...same thing in my book! ;)

If it helps, I have a lot of gray coming through right now (mostly near my bangs, so you can't really see it in this pic) and while I don't apply it directly to my roots, there's transfer when I'm brushing it through and I swear it keeps those grays in check! No antenna head for me. Lol.

Please do keep me posted if you try. Fingers crossed! :)

  4. Give conditioner styling a try. Just wash and condition as usual, rinse completely, wring out most of the water, and add back about a dime sized amount (or more depending on thickness and length, you want it thoroughly coated) of your favorite conditioner, wrap in a towel for a bit, and style as usual. Works better on my naturally curly hair than any leave in or styling product I've ever tried, doesn't add to dry time, doesn't leave me crunchy (it can be the slightest bit but as soon as you touch it it's gone), doesn't negatively affect multi day hair, and I don't have to buy another product. I use Aussie moist, and I air dry exclusively.

    1. Ugh. I WISH I had your fabulous results!! I've tried it with dozens of conditioners over the years, including Aussie Moist (which I LOVE as a regular conditioner), but no matter what, my oily roots get SUPER oily by end of day. I've used a pea size amount, all the way up to a quarter, but my roots just cannot handle it (at least with the various conditioners I've used). And I don't even apply it directly to my roots! It just makes its way up there and my bangs are a greasy mess in no time. Sigh.... :( But hey, this L'Oreal spray works like a charm, so I'm happy to drop the extra few bucks every month or so. :)

  5. We basically have the same hair -- wavy, prone to frizz, fine but lots of it. I am on the hunt for this PRONTO! Thanks for the review!

and that's why I love you.

  7. Normally I can't use scented products... but I love anything even remotely lemon scented, and I absolutely love the smell of 7up (can't stand the taste though haha). Even if it doesn't work out for my hair, I can always spray a little in the bath to give the smell lol

  8. Ooh I love a new almost-holy Grail review! This is a fun week to hunt for $0.99 Sinful Colors at Walgreens, Milani Mattes at CVS, and THIS at either place!

  9. You have me totally convinced to try this. I am always on the hunt for something to replace It's a 10. I only buy it when I find the 2 pack. Once in a blue moon Target has it for the price of one. Anyway, my dry wavy hair needs a leave in conditioner to help separate the waves. I'm going to look for this asap!

  10. 7 up ... I might check this out just for the scent lol

  11. wow! I've got fine hair but lots and lots of it too, and it 's also prone to frizz. I tried the Sally's version of It's a Ten, but that didn't do much for me. But this Loreal may be just what i'm looking for! Smells like 7up...I'm so there!

  12. OMG, G! I finally tried this product and I am in love! I usually have to spend a lot of time detangling my hair, but after using this I could brush through it in 10 seconds or less! And my waves and curls are so great! All I did was let it dry naturally while sitting in front of a fan.

My hair is not in the best condition (I need a haircut), but this stuff makes it so nice. It smells nice, isn't greasy, isn't flyaway... basically, all the problems my hair gives me are either gone or controlled. My hair feels younger, if that makes sense.

No antenna head for me, either!! (I loved your description of those hairs that have a mind of their own. I always wonder why I couldn't have had that type of volume and direction in the 1980's when big hair was mega!).

  13. I don't like the Sulfate Free stuff since it is misleading. Yes, everything and I mean everything within beauty, contains alcohol which can dry out your hair. Plus L'Oreal does do animal testing which I am not fond of.

  14. Hi G, I haven't been able to locate this item in any stores near me. Have you heard if it's been discontinued?
