Reader Review: NEW Maybelline Baby Lips ELECTRO Collection

Ever since I posted that sighting of the new Baby Lips ELECTRO collection, I've been wondering what the rest of the shades look on the lips (huge thanks to reader Cheryl R. for showing us Pink Shock).

Well wonder no more, because today I have an awesome reader-submitted review of all six shades, thanks to reader Ellie! Take a peek...

Minty Sheer, Fierce and Tangy, Pink Shock, Berry Bomb, Strike A Rose, Oh! Orange!

Ellie writes:

As a lover of all Baby Lips and a collector of all the shades, I am highly impressed by this collection! Minty Sheer and Fierce and Tangy show up completely sheer on the lips- they are not tinted green or yellow.

Pink Shock (bright, true pink), Berry Bomb, and Strike a Rose (coral pink) have incredible color payoff! They are definitely more bright than previous Baby Lips. I was a tad bit disappointed by Oh! Orange!. The payoff is very similar to the limited edition Baby Lips Coral Crush and I believe it has the same scent.

The scents of all of them are great- I was curious what Fierce and Tangy would smell like and it smells lemon-y. Overall, I'm very happy.  I wish they had SPF, though (the two sheer ones would be nice!) I got these at my local Bed Bath & Beyond in Maryland for $2.99 on Wednesday.

Wow, the pigmentation of those bottom four shades IS pretty fabulous, isn't it?

For those of you who have asked, I have only heard from readers who have spotted these at Bed Bath and Beyond so far (stores that have an extended beauty department). I have not heard from anyone (yet) who has found these at CVS, Walgreens, etc. Hopefully they get wider distribution...soon!

Thanks SO much, Ellie, for the wonderful, detailed review and photos! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it (I, too, was wondering what Fierce and Tangy smelled like and now I know!).

  1. I love my Pink Shock way more than I ever dreamed. Now I want Strike A Rose so badly but someone else had bought all the other colors at my Bed Bath & Beyond by the time I got back there this week. So I will have to wait patiently until these are more widely available. Hopefully they will be everywhere pretty soon.

  3. I can't wait for Walgreens/CVS to get these because there isn't a BB&B that has a beauty department in my area. I love how all of them look, even the sheer ones! So pretty and such a fun collection.

  4. Oh I cannot wait for these! Love that some are so pigmented!

  5. Seem gimmicky to me. These are packaged in cardboard and plastic packaging. You can't swatch these in store. I would expect the color to apply like the color it is showing in the tube. I would assume others would buy a bright color such as the ones in this collection because they want that same color on their lips. These are far too sheer to be name the word "Electro" in its name.. If that sheer look is what you want, it seems this would be great.

    1. It's a tinted lip balm. They are almost always very sheer. And you really shouldn't be swatching anything in store. (Walmart, ugh)

  9. I've already started hunting for these. I could skip the yellow and green, though a citrus scent sounds divine, but the other four, I must have them!

  11. I just wanted to brag here and say that I have probably the most complete baby lips collection ever. I have all the US ones, original, LE, and the new electro collections. I got the almost all Asian versions, the tinted Thailand ones, the original, the LE, pink color changing ones, the tinted Japanese ones(except two, which I have one reserved, and waiting to find the last one), and the tinted Chinese ones(which spells BABE instead of BABY)

    I LOVE THEM ALL!!!!!

  12. I saw these at my location Harmons, as well as seeing the display at a Walgreens although it was in an obscure place.

  13. Got 'em all at BBB yesterday, used a $5 off $15 Buy Buy Baby coupon, lol. Does anyone else wonder why they would give one the same name (Fierce & Tangy) as a Color Tattoo?! Weird!

  14. Wow those look pretty eye catching! But I never was a fan of the baby lips line, they didnot do much for my lips.

  16. Got all six and was very pleased with them. I love the different scents that they have. When I went to BB&B the display was not out so I asked if they can check their computer to see if they received them and they did! The manager let them bring out the display and I picked up 3 of each color to bring back with me to Hawaii to give to friends because we do not always get every LE cosmetic products here. Love BB&B

  17. i found these at my walmart :D , i got the orange and berry one, kinda sad though because the orange one is like a perfect to dupe for the LE orange one, which i already have,

  18. I found these at Rite Aid, and took advantage of the buy-one-get-one-half-off sale. Bought Pink Shock, Strike a Rose, Berry Bomb and Oh! Orange. They all do have nice color payoff. The Oh! Orange is very close to the earlier LE Coral Crush, but a tiny bit more orange, at least when swatched on my hand. These latest ones are all more saturated.

  25. That's a really great bargain. They sell for 4 - 5 dollars in Canada.
