Mayron's Good Baby Barrier & Diaper Cream: Not just for babies!
When I was in high school, I was the "Entertainment Editor" for the high school newspaper. I can still remember the look on my newspaper advisor's face when I handed in my article reviewing a brand new TV show called "thirtysomething". And I can still remember what she said: "I love this, but I think it might be a little too sophisticated for a high school audience." Well, I always was a little, um, "mature" for my age.
"thirtysomething" was landmark TV in its day. It was a gripping drama about the challenges of a group of thirty-something friends as they tried to find their place in the world. The character that resonated with me the most was Melissa, played by the brilliant actress, Melanie Mayron. Melissa was the "single gal" of the group and I loved her unapologetic attitude, coupled with her artistic, quirky behavior. At that time (the late 80s) I wanted to be just like her.
So fast forward twenty or so years (twentysomething years!) to 2009 and guess who has a line of all-natural baby products that I jumped at the chance to review? I love it when life comes full-circle.
In addition to being a talented actress, Melanie Mayron is also a brilliant director (she's directed episodes of the new "90210", Lipstick Jungle and In Treatment just to name a few), but that's not all. She and her chemist father have created a wonderful line of baby skincare products called Mayron's Good Baby.
Specifically, Melanie and her chemist father have worked for twelve years to create the perfect diaper cream (read the full story here) which is free from synthetic fragrance, parabens, SLS and DEA. It is chock full of great ingredients such as vitamins, essesntial oils, aloe, shea butter and beeswax. And I love their tagline: "Not tested on animals. Tested on actresses' babies." And if that's not enough, Mayron's Good Baby Barrier & Diaper Cream is also made in the USA and a portion of all proceeds go to Women's Health Research.
Now let's get to the actual review! I tested this product personally for two weeks. Where, you may ask? Well when the weather heats up, sometimes I get irritation on the skin that rubs against the underwire area of my bra. I applied Mayron's Good Baby Diaper Cream in that area and from day one, I noticed a huge difference. It not only helped to sooth the irritation, but it prevented future irritation, even during a 100 degree heatwave. And the smell! It's heavenly. It smells like clean, natural lavender and chamomile. Plus, the texture is unlike regular diaper cream, which is so thick sometimes it's hard to spread it around. The color is white but it fades to clear, and it's thick but not too thick. Seriously, it's just perfect for providing that thin barrier between your clothes and your skin.
My boyfriend also tested this product for two weeks. Where, you ask? He gets a little bit of chaffing on his upper thighs when the weather's warm, so he jumped at the chance to use this. He loved the scent and loved the results even more. In his words, "It didn't get all goopy or greasy like other creams. It kept my skin from getting more irritated and it felt really soothing the minute I put it on. I would totally use this again." Can't ask for anything more than that, right?
What I love the most about Mayron's Good Baby Diaper Cream is that it contains the best ingredients you could hope for in a product that will be applied to your most intimate of areas. Honestly, why would you skimp on quality for a product that will be directly applied to your, or your baby's, most tender parts? Using this cream has really made me think twice about what we choose to use on our babies, and I cannot wait to buy a tube for my brother to use on my niece.

Sometimes I have to put a little something under "the girls" when the weather is like this to stop chaffing against my underwire too, what an awesome find! Not that it's the end-all-be-all, but I was sold on the nifty packaging alone! If I could get el hub to use ANYTHING consistently, he'd have several uses for this too ;)

Hey Amber! I'm so glad I'm not alone in my needs, and omg, my boyfriend is the same way! If I don't remind him to use something consistently, it just won't happen. But believe it or not, I saw him reach for this product without my prompting (a first!). :)
And by the way, this didn't stain my bras. Added bonus. :)
