The Lipstick League - Week of 2.20.17

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

Quick! What were the last shampoo and conditioner purchases you made, and how are they working for you?

G's answer: the last shampoo I purchased was the new L'Oreal Extraordinary Clay Rebalancing Shampoo, which I just started testing last week, so the jury's still out on that one. The last conditioner I purchased was a large bottle of Redken All Soft when Ulta was having a liter sale a while back. I used to use this conditioner a lot back in the day, but it's been a while. I decided to revisit it because I honestly couldn't remember why I ever stopped using it (other than just wanting to mix it up and try new things). So far so good--I love how it detangles and leaves my hair very soft and frizz-free, yet it doesn't weigh down my fine, naturally-wavy hair. The only complaint I have is that if I decide to skip a day and not wash my hair, my next-day hair is a tiny bit more oily than usual.

  1. Colour inspirations full line is 75%off at Walgreens, plus BOGO half price! I got two foundations, a lip and cheek stick, and three nail polishes for under$10. The polishes are pretty badly separated, but they mix back up fine. Just be careful not to grab a tester!

  2. Ooh, I actually have an answer for this one! Herbal Essences Arabica Coffee Fruit Shampoo. I grabbed it on a whim at Walgreens a few weeks ago when I was looking for a new volumizing shampoo. This stuff smells amazing. I don't even care how it works. Actually, it seems to be working pretty well so far. It's all about the scent though. To me, it smells like Old Spice Amber. Herbal Essences describes it as "multi-layered scents of delicious crushed berries, warm caramel latte, and patchouli." THIS is the kind of shampoo I want from Herbal Essences. I loved their original shampoos. I was not a fan of their products when they relaunched. I feel like now they are starting to make products that are reminiscent of their originals. They've even returned to the original bottle shape for their new lines. I also bought Herbal Essences Naked Volume White Grapefruit and Mosa Mint Shampoo on the same shopping trip, but I haven't tried that one yet. It also smells amazing.

  3. I brought the OGX in Pink Sugar Plum. I mostly bought it for the scent but I do actually like it. It's supposed to be hydrating and it seems to live up to it's claim. I was on the fence cuz others in the brand have left me with straw hair!

  4. It's been a while since I bought shampoo for myself, especially since I bought extras of a favorite of mine, the L'Oreal EverCreme, which I suspect is discontinued, and I'm now on my last bottle of it. So the goal is to find a cleansing conditioner that makes my hair feel clean and not stripped.

  5. I got Shea Moisture's African Black Soap Dandruff Control shampoo and conditioner (and masque) because for some reason, maybe the dry winter air, my scalp has been driving me crazy recently. I'm also trying to avoid sulfates and silicones, so these fit the bill! I'm loving them so far. They make my hair feel so soft and clean without any buildup and they do seem to be helping my scalp. They also SMELL clean; not flowery or "manly" or anything, just a nice clean scent.
