The Lipstick League - Week of 7.4.16

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

Quick! What’s your current favorite concealer?

G's answer: aside from some concealers that I'm testing out right now for a future review, the one concealer that I have been reaching for the most these days is unfortunately not from the drugstore and it's kind of pricey: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Concealer ($25). Remember when Belk was having that $10 off $20 sale a while back? I really wish they'd run that sale again soon (you know I'll post the moment they do!). ANWYAY, I bought it then and now I'm hooked. I love it because it really does stay in place, even through heat + my oily skin. It doesn't get cakey underneath my eye area, it blends easily, and conceals quite well. And I REALLY love the doe-foot applicator. It's nothing unique, but it just picks up so much product from the tube (not too much, but a lot) and I LOVE that. I had been using the Sephora gel concealer and that applicator picks up the tiniest amount of product, to the point where I have to go back to the tube a zillion times while I'm doing my makeup. The Estee Lauder applicator picks up such a generous amount that I can apply enough to my eyes and the rest of my face using just what's on the applicator the first time I pull it from the tube. I don't have to go back for more, which means one tube is lasting me quite a while. I LOVE this stuff and will defintely repurchase the next time I can get a good deal on it.

  1. I got the same EL concealer, except I got the the waterproof version. I got it during that sale at Belk, but even at that cheap price, I still returned it. I didn't like it at all. My favorite concealers are Younique (no, I don't sell) and Hard Candy Glamoflauge. I also really like using the Pixi peach/orange corrector under my regular concealer to help hide the dark circles.

    1. I use the Pixi peach concealer too only I use Wet n Wild's Come Correct on top. So far, I haven't found a better combo and I can get horrendous dark circles depending on allergy season and which shifts I get assigned to work.

  2. I can't wait for another amazing Belk sale! I bought a few Mac products- fix +, blush, eye shadow 9x palette ( it was tiny so returned it) and a paint pot. I was looking for some rollerball perfumes but I didn't like any of the scents. What would be in your wish list for next sale?!

  3. I still use a CoverGirl/Olay Simply Ageless concealer (with the cream and concealer swirl in a screw-top pan) that is now discontinued. I usually toss stuff out once it gets past a certain age (or try to) but I can't let that one go because it matches my skin so well and blends nicely and doesn't sweat off.
I also use the NYX Hi Definition Photo Concealer Wand. I have about four of those -- two close to my skin tone which I blend, and then a green and a lavender one -- and they have served me well.
For undereye circles I do like the Maybelline Dream Lumi in Radiant. I never had luck with undereye circles but this minimizes them and adds a bit of brightness.

  4. My current favorite concealer which is also a foundation is the Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation + concealer. I love it because it doesn't cake on my combination skin as it blends really beautifully and covers my imperfections. It's a bit pricey at $27, but after getting a sample of it from Sephora, I decided to get it.

  6. I picked up Fergie concealer at the Dollar Tree in Medium. Since I now have a little color on my face it's the perfect color. I also like Hard Candy Glamoflage and for under eye I like Age Rewind by Maybelline.

    1. I swear by that Fergie concealer Robin! I've had my foundation literally melt off my face (not pretty..picture horror movie LOL) but the concealer stayed in place and looked like I'd just applied it. I've thought of using it as a foundation...:-)

  7. MAC Select Moisturecover is my favorite. The best I've ever used. Goes on smooth and is never cakey. And you can get just the right shade. But I will definitely try some of these other suggestions to compare.

  8. I'm loving Holika Holika's Cover and Hiding concealer-- the liquid, not the pencil. The lighter shade is a great match for my pale warm-toned skin (it's not too pink) and the coverage and staying power are great. Plus it's $7-9. For my undereyes I use It Cosmetics's Bye Bye Under Eye set w/the ELF undereye powder. Not perfect but pretty darn good.

  9. Favorite concealer for under eye & to contour is Dior, Fix It. Blends easy & doesn't crease.
For blemishes, I have yet to beat blending 1 part of Bare Minerals Concealer w/one part foundation. Pat it on w/a small brush & buff it out.Repeat if needed. Powder or bronzer over. I make a batch & keep it in one of the lids of my products so it's ready to use.
