The Lipstick League - Week of 6.27.16

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

We all love our liquid lipsticks, but what are some of your favorite lighter lip products (sheer lipsticks, glosses, tints, stains, balms) for summertime?

G's answer: for the past few weeks I've been really into stains again. I busted out my "box o' free deluxe samples" and rediscovered Benefit Benetint, which I haven't used in years, and now I kind of want to purchase a full-size bottle again (but will of course wait for a good deal). I also repurchased a Palladio Lip Stain (one of the felt-tip marker types) at Sally Beauty recently and fell back in love with that one. I prefer the Palladio ones to other felt-tip marker type lip stains (like the CoverGirl one, etc.) because I like the way the colors look on my lips and I think the staying power is the best.

  1. I've been using a liquid oil based lipstain from Sephora. Its on the page, I love it. I love the scent and how it feels on my lips. It doesnt last that long though.

  2. Its so funny you revisited Benetint! I just rediscovered it last week!! I forgot that I love it on my cheeks in the summer when I don't need foundation or bronzer. Also I have always been a gloss girl and still loving it and also putting it over Benetint on my lips. I also grabbed several UD sheer lipsticks when they were 50% off.

  3. I've been mostly going for sheer lipsticks, and primarily the Urban Decay sheers I scored half-off before the Vice line came out. Then I used my Ulta 20 percent off coupon to buy two new UD sheers, and I've been pretty much wearing those in rotation.

  4. I love Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in nude! It was in Sephora's "Rainforest of the Sea™ Quench & Drench Lip Set" for $9 and I fell in love when I tried it. I just bought a full size actually. The color is quite sheer, but I just love how it makes my lips feel!

  5. Mmm, Benebalm... Got it as a birthday present from my boyfriend a few years back. Perfect texture and amount of color. I want all the rest too, lol! I'm also really into the Pixi pH color changing lip stain/balm.

Also, G, did you see on IG I commented that at Nordstrom Rack I saw a zillion Too Faced Love palettes for $16.97, and their BB Cream as well? I'll put it on the You Tell Me page, too.

  6. I love lipstains too. My favorite is the now-discontinued marker-style Just Bitten one from Revlon, which predated the crayon-style Just Bitten stains by a few years. These ones have a marker on one end and a clear lip balm on the other. I bought up every one I could find in my two favorite colors when they went on clearance a few years ago. They're the only product I've ever found that is long-wearing, moisturizing, and has zero transfer immediately after you apply them. Most other products are too dry and transfer or melt off as soon as you put a balm or gloss on top of them. The only product that comes close for me is the Jordana balm stains, which transfer when you first apply them but eventually reach a point where they still feel moisturizing with little to no color transfer. I should check out the Palladio ones!

  7. I wanted to mention that NYC does a Benetint type of product that you might want to look into. Emilynoel83 did a review of it that mentioned that it's the same idea as Benefit Benetint, although it does not exactly dupe any of the colors. You might want to check out that video.
