Exciting news in the world of lip balm today! Did you hear? The iconic Jack Black Lip Balm (one of my favorite lip balm products ever) now comes in a stick!
I just spotted this in the "What's New" section on the Ulta site--you can check it out for yourself HERE (it's also on the Jack Black site HERE). Retail price is $7.50 and right now it only comes in one flavor (Fresh Mint). That's the same price as the tube version, but you're getting 0.15 oz. in the stick, while you get 0.25 oz. in the tube. That's a big decrease in product considering that the price is the same, but the ingredients are very different between the two:
- STICK (Fresh Mint): Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate.
- TUBE (Fresh Mint): Active Ingredient: Avobenzone 3.0%, Octinoxate 7.5%, Petrolatum 40.2% Inactive Ingredients: Beeswax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, C 18-38 Alkyl Hydroxystearol Stearate, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Flavor, Lanolin, Microcrystalline Wax, Ozokerite, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Tocopheryl Acetate
As you can see, the stick version does not contain sunscreen, nor does it contain petroleum, lanolin, and other ingredients that are present in the tube version. So it's not like they took the original tube formula and just stuck it in a stick. This is essentially a completely different product. But still exciting if you're a Jack Black fan and love stick lip balms, right?
