NEW L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt Mascara

Attention L'Oreal Butterfly fans! Did you hear that they've added a new member to the family? I went back into my archives and wow, I cannot believe that the original Voluminous Butterfly came out in Summer 2013. That was followed by Voluminous Butterfly Intenza in Fall 2014, and now we have Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt.

Many thanks to my pal Jen of The Budget Beauty Blog for this one. Jen posted the above pic on her Instagram today of the display she spotted at Target, and she kindly shared some additional pics with us. I also enlarged/cropped her original pic a bit for a closer look:

Inner Bristles fill in lash line for a no gap tightline effect.

Brush Reservoir loads entire lash with maximum volume.

Outer Bristles fan out lash corners to the extreme.

I believe the mascara on the far right in the pic above is the waterproof formula in Black. I just noticed that CVS has this mascara listed on their website now (not yet available for purchase online) so here's the info from their site:

Now, a longtime makeup artist secret is revealed: Tight-lining. What is it?
Lining the upper lash line to create the illusion of fuller lashes and more defined eyes. Now there's a mascara that does it for you. Voluminous Butterfly Sculpt. For an intense tight-line effect at the roots and fanned out volume at the tips. It's smaller and tighter bristles come as close as possible to the lash line filling in between the roots to deposit maximum volume for a no gap tight-liner effect.

Ingredients: Isododecane, Cera Alba/Beeswax /Cire D'abeille, Copernicia Cerifera Cera /Carnauba Wax/Cire De Carnauba, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Aqua/Water/Eau, Alcohol Denat., Allyl Stearate/Va Copolymer, Oryza Sativa Cera/Rice Bran Wax, Paraffin, Polyvinyl Laurate, Vp/Eicosene, Copolymer, Propylene Carbonate, Talc, Ethylenediamine/Stearyl Dimer Dilinoleate Copolymer, Peg-30 Glyceryl Stearate, Rayon, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Propylene Glycol, Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Ethylene/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Soluble Collagen, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate, Caprylyl Glycol, Trisodium Edta, Atelocollagen, Potassium Sorbate, Hexylene Glycol, BHT.

Please note that the ingredients above are for the waterproof formula.

Have you spotted this display in your area yet? Thoughts? I have tried both the original Butterfly and Butterfly Intenza, and I actually prefer the original brush to the Intenza brush. To be honest, I prefer the Miss Manga formulas/brushes over the Butterfly mascaras, but most of you know that I like a bit of "clumpage" to my mascaras since my lashes are nonexistent without some serious volume. At any rate, I'm curious about this new brush--think you'll give it a try?

Thanks again, Jen, for the great sighting and pics. I really appreciate it!

  1. I really like the idea of this mascara; it's like doing two steps in one for me, since I tight line and apply mascara. They already have this in the U.K. And I read good reviews on it, will you be reviewing it?

  2. I saw this mascara at my local walmart last week but I didn't know what it was all about. I'm a fan of the butterfly mascara line, so I'll definitely be picking this one up.

  4. It seems that the word "sculpt" is the new trend/buzzword for 2016 in cosmetic products. I'm seeing it everwhere. Trouble is, I don't buy it for a second! No makeup product can sculpt. Most of these products wouldn't even give the illusion of sculpting. Just more marketing hype in my opinion.

  5. I definitely want to try this mascara. The original butterfly one worked so well on me and is one of my favs! I did a review video showing it on me on Youtube! I hope I can get my hands on this one soon =)

  6. I can't tightline because I wear contacts. It seems that almost everyday, I get some sort of fleck of mascara or eyeliner or something in my contacts after I put my makeup on. I probably take them out and reapply at least 3x a week.

  7. I loved the Butterfly mascara, but have yet to try the Intenza ( soon! I'm always behind and wait for the hype to die down on products before giving them a go)however, I had to giggle at this new mascara. My mom has been using mascara to 'tightline' or replace liner and free up a step for decades. She taught me about mascara and 'wiggles' the wand a bit to create a lined effect. she's also taken tweezers to separate the bristles of her wand just so slightly and wiggles the product in, cleaning up the line if need be as she goes. a go to trick of the 80's that I use today as well. I think I'll pick her up a tube of this when I can find it. I'm a sucker for purple and butterflies lol

  8. Bought this and tried it today. I need to play with it a bit more, but so far I like it.

  9. Absolute WORST mascara I've ever purchased. Clumps & gobs up & the fan design makes it impossible to get the same effect on both eyes & I'm ambidetric. So unimpressed I'm taking it back. Complete waste of funds
