Living Social Health & Beauty Mystery Box $15.98 Shipped

Notice I didn't say "Hot Deal" or "Hurry!" in my title above. That's because I truly don't know if this is a hot deal, or if you should hurry before this sells out. I just want to put that out there right up front.

Right now at Living Social, you can get the Health & Beauty Mystery Box HERE for $11.99 + $3.99 shipping. PLEASE NOTE that if you wait more than 10 minutes to order after clicking that link the price will jump to $13.99 + $3.99 shipping, so be willing to commit quickly when you click.

Living Social states that the value of this box is $49.99, and that you will receive "5 pieces of makeup accessories". They do not indicate that the items featured in their photo above will actually be in your box. I spot a Real Techniques brush and a Lancome(?) mascara in this pic but, again, no indication that you will actually receive those products.

I'm putting this out there for two reasons.

1) If you like true mysteries, this is less than $20 and may be worth the gamble (or it may not be; I honestly have no idea).

2) If you have purchased beauty mystery boxes from Living Social before (a quick Google search tells me that they have offered these in the past, but I have yet to find an unboxing review), then I would absolutely LOVE to know what you got.

NOTE: Living Social does not allow returns on beauty items, so please keep that in mind if you decide to purchase.

If you purchase this one today, I would absolutely love to hear from you after you get it. But please don't yell at me if you're disappointed, because I warned you right up front that this is a gamble!

  2. The Jeans have me very intrigued lol. I have that Real Techniques brush and I'm too picky with my mascara, so I won't be picking this up but thanks for the info!

  4. If you use the code SWEET it saves 15% off sitewide. Cannot be used with the one the box discounts too, however if your expires or you want an additional 10 cents, off it's good to go! :)

  12. Unfortunately this just wasn't worth it. :( The entire box was probably worth $5-8.

    2. I got stuff that (some of which) can't even be found w/ Google! A pair of foreign off brand black spandex leggings that are "free size"...I think they mean any size. Too long on me but comfortable. Also, Asian sun protective spandex sleeve things to put on arms in a royal bright blue color, SANTEE waterproof mascara I wouldn't want to put near my eyes. Has plastic wrap over it but foil look printed/painted-on label partially worn off/didn't stick when applied to it apparently. Then these weird wetsuit type material heel cover things that have "Olive Doctor Care" printed on them. They have mystery holes/slits that I don't do what they are for. Lastly, a Utopia baked eyeshadow in "Love Me 365," a swirl of charcoal, pearl, and silver. Made in China, looks cheap has talc, paraben. Large though, the size of a blush. And it all stinks strongly of plastic/rubber odor. But, it could have been great. You just never know, the history wasn't known on this one. Glad I got big discount. $5-8 value I'd say. Could get for that at 99 cent store or a Deiso.

    3. Oh my goodness. I don't even know what to say, other than please do not use that mascara if it's the same one I mentioned here:

      http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com/2016/01/beauty-product-recall.html

What a bummer this boxed turn out to be, eh? Well, thank you for "taking one for the team" if anything! So sorry to hear that there was clearly nothing even remotely similar to the items pictured (not that I thought the exact items would be in this box, but I was hoping it would at least be items in the same league!). :(

    4. It's not that exact mascara...but same brand. The one in blog post looks fancier though lol. I wouldn't trust it. I saw a link for "request a refund" at the bottom of LivingSocial's site and need to investigate maybe. Initially it looked like it was mostly for vouchers. The company that did it either really misled LivingSocial, LivingSocial misled us, or a combo of both. Def not worth anywhere near posted price. Unless I need to return it, it's probably going to a local charity thrift store.

Regardless, thank you G for all your hard work! You give so many good deets on sales. This was just a crapshoot.

    5. Oh thank goodness it's not the recalled mascara! I guess that's a (tiny) silver lining? Lol! Thanks for being so understanding about this one--I know I said it was a gamble up front, but I still feel horrible that it was such a letdown. I would love to know if Livingsocial allows you to return this one (I know I saw in the fine print that they don't allow returns on beauty products, but maybe they won't classify this as a strictly beauty purchase since there's clothing too?). Please keep us posted if you can? Thank you!! :)

    6. Yes! That is exactly what I got. Sorry, I was at work and wasn't able to post a long message. I just wanted to try to sway someone else away while I could! Regardless, your blog is ahhhhhhmazing and has saved me WAY more money than what this has cost! ;) Thank you!!

  13. I got the exact same thing, but my leggings were white (ewww) and arm covers were pale pink (I'm not a pink wearing kind of gal). Does anyone know what these heel things are supposed to be/do? It was a total fail... Lesson learned, I'll stick with my Allure Beauty Box.

  14. Good news, Living Social is refunding me the entire amount and I don't have to ship it back. I explained that 3 of the 5 items were in no way health and beauty related and so they apologized and offered the full refund. Hopefully that will help others who were disappointed as well. Good luck!

  15. I received the exact items (though different colours) as the posters above me. http://i.imgur.com/h75W6nY.jpg

  16. I also got the same products in different colors. The Olive Doctor Care things are "shock absorbing plantar fasciitis therapy wraps." They fit over your heels, with the part that says "Olive" on the top of your foot. I actually do have plantar fasciitis, so I may try these out, but they seem too thin to offer much shock absorption. This box is a total bust. I wouldn't care if it had actually contained health and beauty products (even questionable, cheap ones). As it stands, however, I feel like Living Social totally misrepresented what this was, especially with the picture that implied this would be mostly makeup. Thanks for the tip on the refund saramel! I am definitely going to look into that.

  17. Thanks so much for all the additional info, everyone. I truly appreciate that.

Before you return your boxes, would any of you be willing to snap a few pics of the contents of this box, so that I can share on the blog? I'd like to have a record of it, for if/when they release another box. I can refer readers back to the pics so they can at least get an idea of what was in a previous box.

If any of you can email me pics (I can credit you with your screen name here, or whatever name you'd like, and I can also use your pics anonymously if you'd prefer) I would so appreciate it. My email is nouveaucheap @ gmail. Thanks! :)

  18. One more thing on this-- The eye shadow is made by Kleencolor. I looked it up on the Kleencolor website, and it shows the the compact as having a sticker to the right of the latch that seals it shut. Mine arrived with a sticky spot in that position, but no actual sticker. So sketchy!!
