Coming Soon: Beautyblender Liner Design
(retail: $16)

Have you heard the news? Beautyblender is about to launch a new product designed to help with eyeliner application, and it's shaped like a guitar pick. Intrigued? Me too! Check it out.

From Allure.com:
...And this spring, the company is releasing a new product that's sure to have beauty bloggers and plebeians alike really, really excited.
It's called Liner Designer, and it looks like a hot-pink guitar pick. It's made out of rubbery plastic, and the company is billing it as an "eyeliner application tool" to be used with all kinds of eyeliners, from gel to pencil. The Liner Designer has three different sides: one short round edge, a straight edge, and a curvy edge.
You could create a "dark and sultry" cat eye by holding the straight side up at the corner of your eye to create a thick line on the top of your lids and to determine the thickness of the bottom line. Or you could use it to shield your perfect cat eye when applying mascara. And if you're a makeup newbie, you can use the curvy side to guide your lipliner.

Definitely check out the additional photos on the Allure site HERE. Basically, this sounds like a device that you hold up to your eye as a guide while applying eyeliner. As mentioned in the Allure article, I know a lot of people use Scotch tape for this (as well as Post-It notes), but I like the idea of something permanent, washable, and reusable. Am I intrigued enough to fork over $16 for one? I don't know. I may wait for a sale/discount code and purchase down the line (as I did before I ever purchased the original Beautyblender). What do YOU think?

  1. It's either a total gimmic or completely innovative. Ha!

  2. Ha! I think I'll wait for the 50 cent version of a little piece of plastic, lol.

  3. I dont know...its intriguing yet im leaning more towards the gimmick of it than usefulness like the that "bloterazzi" thing, the "micro mini" bb and the "body" BB that i also heard bad things about. Maybe BB should just focus on the original BB since those last 3 products have been no good.

    1. I just bought the micro mini beauty blenders at the dermastore sale. I think they will work well for my delicate undereye area. I always feel like I'm tugging when I try to blend my concealer.

  5. $16? That's a hoot. Maybe I'll go down to the music store and get some of their three-for-a-dollar guitar picks. You asked what we thought! I think if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig.

  6. I think it'll definitely work out well, but you can definitely go into a music store and get something exactly like it for under $2

  7. I'm thinking an actual guitar pick would serve the same function. :)

  8. Interesting,i am not into the whole eyeliner look I just tightline my lids. So I am not interested. But it may work for others...

  10. Hey G, Can't you find us something at Daiso we can use instead???

  11. So basically it does what a makeup wedge already does for a fraction of the price? i love my beauty blender to bits, but unfortunately for the brand they're turning out to be a one trick pony.

  12. The reason Beauty Blender isn't at all innovative and really shine only at the original pink sponge and cleanser is that the owner of BB isn't the INVENTOR. She bought the rights to the BB, everything done since has been so silly. But pink original? Holy grail tool.

  13. I thought it was a way to APPLY liner at first. I can't imagine spending $16 on this :/ I'll stick with tape.

  14. Idk if it's the same exact size/shape as a guitar pick but if it is, that's shameful. You can get a pick *making* kit on Amazon for under $30 and stamp that shape out of whatever colors patterns or materials you want.

  15. WTF? I guess a credit card oder something similar - actually everything with a straight edge would do the same job... 16 $ for a piece of plastic?!?!

  16. Cool idea I guess but too pricey for me. I have also heard the credit card method, though I haven't tried it but keep meaning to, because my skills suck!!!!

  17. I'm glad to read am not the only one that was baffled by this lol.

  18. It seems like it could be very useful, but also a huge learning curve which would make it seem like a gimmick. I'm on the fence with this one. I wish they would have included a really short demo video with this first lit bit of information.

  19. I'm confused on how to use this. If you don't use it to apply, then how do you use it as a guide?

  20. When the BB first came out and it was a huge success, and then they released the black Pro version and the white sensitive version, I kept my fingers crossed that they wouldn't get so swept up in their success that they would release a bunch of silly, gimmicky things.

This, unfortunately, seems like a silly, gimmicky thing, just like the blotting sponges that they recently released. To me, this is just like any other shadow shield, and is not a necessary or particularly useful item. :(

Maybe they'll get it right sometime! Otherwise I think they should stick to what they know - awesome sponges!

  21. Is it just me or does the logo on it look like the Anastasia Beverly Hills log? (I happen to have my Dip Brow Pomade sitting here)

Plus (and I may be in the minority, here) but I finally bought into the hype and got a Beauty Blender and am not impressed. The blender I bought was a limited edition red one and it bleeds every time I wash it (warning: do NOT squeeze excess moisture out into a light colored towel). I much prefer the cosmetic sponges made by Swissco, which are more like the non-latex wedge sponges consistency-wise(the holes of the sponge are a lot smaller and tighter together). I can find those consistently at TJ Maxx for about $4 each (although I did see Ulta had one for $5.99).

  22. The Allure blurb, wow. "Plebeians" aren't going to be forking out $16 for a flexible guitar pick.

  23. I definitely believe that they should make a beauty blender sponge case, this just doesn't look very helpful. But hey, you never know.
