Spotted: New 2016 Revlon Core Nail Color Shades

image credit: @blkisbeauti for Nouveau Cheap

It's that time of year again! Every year about this time, Revlon seems to launch the new shades for their core nail color line. This year there are EIGHT new shades, and if you look at the display above, Revlon is now touting their polishes as 5-free. I can't recall if they've always been 5-free (I thought they were 3-free in the past)? I'll have to do some digging to determine if this is a new thing (if you know, please comment below).

Many thanks to reader @blkisbeauty on Instagram for the pic of this display. She spotted this collection at her local Harmon this week (which means you should start to see it at Bed Bath & Beyond and Christmas Tree Shops too), and I would imagine it will also start to pop up at all the major drugstores in the next few weeks. And then eventually, you'll be able to find these in the permanent Revlon core nail polish display.

NOTE: I do not know which existing shades Revlon is discontinuing from the core line to make room for these, other than some of the existing glitters that I've blogged about recently (which have been spotted on clearance recently). If you have an idea as to the others that are going away--shades you've spotted on clearance at the drugstores lately--I would love to hear from you!

I cropped/enlarged @blkisbeauti's pic a bit for a closer look at these shades:

Even though there are some empty slots in this display, the second row is repeats so you can see still all of the eight new shades.

Stunner (gold glitter)
Romantique (light pink)
Adventurous (coral)
Vivacious (medium pink)

Hypnotic (medium purple)
Irresistible (blue)
Desirable (metallic pink)
Passionate (?) (dark purple)

Thanks to reader Seraphina below for her help with some of these shade names! If you know the name of the purple one, thank you in advance for confirming.

I'm curious about what's going on with that glitter shade. If any of you have seen this display in person, please describe that glitter to us? Thanks!

Thanks again, @blkisbeauti, for the great pic and sighting!

  2. Saw this a few weeks ago at BB&B. The collex made me think Valentine's Day, actually. But as for the glitter- it's a combo of gold & white, also some bar glitter mixed in and these...*spots*...meant to resemble leopard spots. However they're rather sparse, and like any topcoat with an object in it (like stars) it's incredibly difficult to get out.
Beauty Geeks (n/a) swatched it last week, FYI. http://imabeautygeek.com/2015/11/10/revlon-2016-nail-polish-swatches-and-review/

  4. Pretty!!! I will be looking for these for sure to see if anything must come home with me! Remember the good old days (few years ago) when Revlon would do a LE dupe a must have Chanel of the moment and we would be crazy to find it???? I miss those!

  5. "5 Free" means that the polishes are not only made without the 3 common chemicals found in nail polishes (Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde), but also without 2 other very dangerous chemicals (Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor).

  6. I saw these at my local HEB and many of them look like older LE polishes. (IMO of course)
Also, saw the swatches of the gold glitter (from beauty geeks) It is most def a pass!
