The Lipstick League - Week of 9.28.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

How many skincare products do you use every day?

G's answer: On a typical day, I use cleanser, micellar water, daytime moisturizer, and eye cream. And then at night, serum and nighttime moisturizer (I also use cleanser, micellar water, and eye cream at night, but I already counted those). So six total, unless I am using a moisturizer that doesn't contain sunscreen, in which case the total would be seven (and three times a week I use a facial scrub, so on those days it's eight).

  1. Morning: cleanser, scrub (several times a week), toner, eye cream, spot treatment for acne.

After work, in the car on the way home: wipe off all face makeup.

Before bed: cleanser, toner, eye cream, spot treatment for acne, face oil or serum, hand cream.

  2. I only use the PIXI Glow every day and once a week I use the Freeman Peel Off Cucumber mask. No moisturizers for me!!! I did buy one of those rotating brush facial cleaner thingies for $4.80 at Big Lots this weekend so that might become a daily use item. Oh yes, I like to use the Soap of the Earth garden soap that has a loofah attached to it on my face too. They have the best soaps on the planet!!

  3. I'm all over the map there. Every day I'll use cleanser and rosehip oil or the Palmer's face oil. I tend to just stick to the oils or use this product that's supposed to be similar to Egyptian Magic, which I found on Etsy, which is great for cuticles, dry skin, etc. (Even if it is or isn't like EM -- though other reviewers have said so -- I love it.)
I haven't yet gotten much into serums or anything. If I have samples I'll use them, but so far I'm very happy with the oils. (Plus my skin gets much dryer in winter -- thanks, turning 40!) Those seem to be the products I'm using up the most, too.
If I'm more ambitious, I'll throw in some eye cream or use toner/witch hazel. Sometimes retinols get tossed into the mix or a daytime moisturizer. If I've had a breakout or have a potential one, I use some Body Shop tea tree oil product. I kind of have product ADD, where I want to try something of everything, but there's so much out there, so I'm trying to keep it simple. (My medicine cabinet still says otherwise, however.)
