Spotted: NEW Maybelline the Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara (Reader Pics with a Before-and-After)

It's here! It's here! I have been hearing for weeks now that Maybelline was coming out with a new push-up style mascara, and it's finally here!

Many thanks to reader @hello_vana on Instagram for this one. @hello_vana spotted this new Maybelline mascara at her local Target this week, purchased it, and shared lots of pics with us (including a before-and-after!). Take a look:

@hello_vana said that when she found this at Target, there were only a few tubes left, and they were all in the waterproof formula. I'm assuming there's also a washable formula since most new Maybelline mascaras launch in waterproof and washable formulas. I'm guessing the shades will be similar to the original The Falsies mascara (Very Black, Brownish Black, Blackest Black, Black Drama).

Looking at the brush, you can see that this has a special "push up cup" design, which promises to "scoop and lift" lashes with a new "creamy plumping formula."

My first thought when I saw this brush was, "Is this a Benefit Roller Lash dupe???" Looking at pics of the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, you can see that that brush is curved, while this one is straight. But the Benefit mascara has a "Hook and Roll" brush that "lifts and curves," and that's kind of the same claim as the Maybelline mascara, with its "Push Up Cup" that "scoops and lifts." Plus, the Maybelline tapered tube is similar to Benefit's tapered tube (the overall shape).

I'm also reminded of the new NARS Audacious Mascara, which has "lengthening hooks," that sort of seem like they may do the same thing as the Maybelline "push up cups," right? Maybe? I don't own Benefit Roller Lash or NARS Audacious, but I'm curious to see what YOU think if you do, and you try this new Maybelline mascara.

@hello_vana was nice enough to also share with us a before-and-after of her wearing this mascara:

Gorgeous eye color, right? And I'm impressed with how this mascara did seem to "scoop and lift" @hello_vana's lashes, as promised.

Have you spotted the new Maybelline the Falsies Push up Drama Mascara in your area yet? Think you'll give this one a try? I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

Thanks so very much, @hello_vana, for the fantastic sighting and pics. I really appreciate it!

  1. I'd be curious how her lashes react to other mascaras. Mine are notorious for not holding a curl so I'm always skeptical, but she's rocking this

    1. Mine only hold a curl with waterproof so I am really looking forward to finding this if that's the result she got with it!

  2. Picked this up at target the other day while looking for the new sonia kashuk stuff. Not really a fan. It's just kinda mediocre. Not tons of volume, really no length. The stubby brush makes it hard to get tiny corner lashes. Ended up poking both eyes trying it on lol.

  3. I saw this Target yesterday but hadn't seen any reviews so just picked up 3 Maybelline lippies instead. I may have to check this one out. Thanks for the information. As always... You rock!

  4. Boy her eye work is totally on point!!!!! I am going to try this as soon as I see it. I have been a Falsies girl for years, even though I have been loving a tube of Loreal Butterfly Intenza mascara that I found in my stash. Thanks for the information! It's at the perfect time as I am ready for a new tube

  5. I have not even heard of this one, but i can comment on the NARS Audacious.
On me, it was AWFUL. A wet, clumpy mess. For those who really like a wet mascara formula, you will probably do better with Audacious, but it was a total no-go for me.
I *never* toss products after one use, but I just couldn't see myself using Audacious. Luckily it was only a deluxe sample so I didn't feel quite so bad.

  6. I saw this in Target the other day. I'm going to try it although I have curly lashes already... I'm more interested in seeing how the formula works.

  8. I love that you always post before everyone else & give so many details! If it wasn't for you I never would have found this! I did a whole first impressions and review of this mascara on youtube. If you search the name in youtube it should come up because there are only 2 reviews! I have super short lashes that never curl so if you ant to check it out I'd really appreciate it!

  9. I guess I should goto Target because I didn't see this at Ulta, Walgreens, or Kmart this week. I am due for a new mascara, and I always love trying new ones. :)

  10. I tried this mascara today in the waterproof formula in the color Very Black. I am a huge fan of Maybelline's Full 'N Soft waterproof formula (same color) and have been using it for years. I must say that this new mascara is the absolute worst mascara I have ever tried. The applicator glopped it on with no good way to access individual lashes and it clumped so badly that I couldn't get the lashes to separate with a lash comb. Into the trash it goes and I'm back to the Full 'N Soft and praying that Maybelline never discontinues it.
