The Lipstick League - Week of 6.8.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

Are you on board with the current matte lip trend? If so, which products are you loving lately? If not, what other finish do you prefer?

G's answer: Girl, I've been on board with matte lips since waaaay before this current wave, and I'll be on board long after it's "out" again (and back "in" again). Ha! Some of my current faves will not shock you in the slightest: Milani Moisture Mattes, Maybelline Creamy Mattes, Rimmel Kate Mattes, Jordana Modern Mattes, L'Oreal Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Mattes and the list goes on. Oh! I'm also loving the new Maybelline Colorblurs, which I'll be reviewing this week.

  1. I love that mattes are finally back. For a while it was so hard to fine matte lipsticks. A matte formula for me makes a world of difference. A glossy red or plum shade is never as thrilling as a matte version.

  2. Maybelline matte, Colourpop matte, Jordana modern matte, Loreal infallible lipstick (not the two stage..start off a cream but look matte as the day goes on and last forever), Stila stay all day (not all are matte), Sephora cream lip stain (same for those), KVD everlasting.

  3. I love how these look on almost everyone else but I just can't commit to the lip care (exfoliation etc.)! I want a lipstick I can throw on and not worry if I will have a wrinkly lip look 20 minutes later :\ I love spending time on my eyes and then by the time I get to my face and lips.... I'm like gotta do it fast cause I'm almost out of time!!! ;) I've always had pigmented lips so I can get away with a simple lip look! I've been wearing some of my favorite matte lipsticks (some pretty MAC colors i couldnt pass up) with lip smackers underneath and it's much more forgiving on me!

  4. Ok can I just say that today's Lipstick League post is overflowing with exciting posts?! I check on my cell on the way to work before my train goes underground so I can have something to read while off the grid, but these are gonna surpass my commute! I am loving the price point and variety of Milani Moisture Mattes. I also love how the L'Oreal Colour Riche mattes glide on instantly. One swipe of Divine Wine, and I am good! I don't have full lips, so I can't rock EVERY color in matte, but I sure try.

  5. While th e matte lip looks good on a lot of people, at my age (50+) I can't wear it, for fear of screams of "The Mummy lives!" when I go out in public. Nope, matte lips make me look dead, ditto the nude lip.
