The Lipstick League - Week of 4.27.15

The Lipstick Question of the Week

Name a color cosmetic that you love to wear year-around, regardless of the season.

G's answer: You know me and pinky-brown lipsticks! I wear them year-around, basically "all day, every day" and have been for over 15 years now. And if I may get nostalgic for a moment, I remember when it was darned near impossible to find a good pinky-brown lipstick at the drugstore (especially in a creme or matte finish). But now? Psssh. They're everywhere. And I couldn't be happier about that, since I used to have to kick down $$$ for Bobbi Brown lipsticks (back in the late '90s/early '00s) to feed my pinky-brown lip color cravings.

  2. Hmmmmm purple eyeliner!!! I usually wear it in my bottom waterline instead of black, which looks way kinder and softer on me than black and makes my blue eyes look more green!

  3. Blue nail polish! It's my spirit animal.

  4. So, what are your top five drugstore pinky-brown lip colors? In the '90s, I had one from Elizabeth Arden that I wore all the time. I had one from Max Factor, too. I mean, these were no-brained colors that went with everything. I just found s picture I took of myself in 1994 (I was the original selfie queen!), and I'm pretty sure I'm wearing the EA lipstick (Oh, how I loved EA's Lip Spa lipsticks).

  6. I'm also a fan of the pinky-brown nudes, but I'm also more into berries and plums lately. I'll also go for a good sheer red any time of the year, or a great matte brick red. So, I'll wear whatever I'm in the mood for, I guess.

  7. I agree completely, pretty much anything with some brown in it is more flattering on me. So nice to have such an influx of them into the market. I'll also do peach/orange year round.

  8. I've been thinking about what color cosmetic I wear year around and I think the number one item has to be Cover Girl's eyeshadow single inTapestry Taupe. I've worn this shade for over 20 years in all seasons. All eyeliner colors work with it, it's not overpowering ;or underwhelming), and it is appropriate for all activities, such as work or going out. I don't know how many times I've repurchased this color! I bought an extra one a year or so ago so I always have a spare!

  10. I know that plum colored lipsticks are usually reserved for the Fall, but I enjoy them year round. Especially MAC Plumful!
