The Lipstick League - week of 3.30.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

What’s the last beauty product that really “wowed” you?

G's answer: This is a giant spoiler for some upcoming reviews, but I am LOVING the new Hard Candy Glamoflauge Foundation and the new Salon Perfect Brow Pomade. They are both game-changers (for me personally). More info coming very soon!

The Lipstick League Links of the Week

My Newest Addiction - Laura shares an awesome Everyday Glam eyeshadow tutorial using the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette!

Nouveau Cheap - Can’t get enough nudes and neutrals? You might want to check out the new Hard Candy Natural Eyes Neutral Eyeshadow Palette, which looks a lot like another very popular palette (but for ¼ the price).

Prime Beauty - gets a much needed hair makeover with Living Proof's Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment!

Phyrra - I love the gorgeous new Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks. They're hot for Summer!

Vampy Varnish - Do you still love coloring with pencils? Me too which is why the new Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Hot Pink was a must-have!

we heart this - we're guessing you're ready for warmer weather, right? The bareMinerals Modern Pop collection will prepare you for its arrival!

Beautygeeks - If you suffer from seasonal allergies, the last thing you need to do is scrub away at stubborn waterproof mascara. Instead try one of this handful of humidity-, rain-, sweat- and tear-proof formulas that come off without a fuss.

Clumps of Mascara - has fallen in love with OFRA Cosmetics. And I’ve got 5 reasons why!

EauMG - March was a hectic month, but Victoria has managed to share her March Empties from rose-scented skincare to Korean sheet masks to whipped foundations! She emptied a lot last month.

Gouldylox Reviews - Looking to switch it up for spring? I've listed my Top Ten favorite picks for April and it's so much more than what is new at Sephora

Love for Lacquer - Jess has an EXCLUSIVE look at the brand new Showstopper Palette from Tarte! Can you say gorgeous!?

My Beauty Bunny - Be fierce this spring with the gorgeous Milani Fierce Foil Eyeshine Palettes. There are four beautiful foiled eyeshadow palettes and we've got all the shimmering swatches!

(Wondering what the Lipstick League is? Find out here.)

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by My Newest Addiction - I love Jamie over at Makeup Life and Love. Her Spring Beauty Bag Refresh was a great read!

  1. I've seen several reviews on the HC foundation.. and every one has been negative except for emilynoel.. which I found strange since usually I can trust her opinion. Looking forward to yours.
My big successes lately from the drugstore have been the Loreal pro matte foundation and shadow palettes, the NYX brow pencil (Although the colors are a bit problematic, I actually wound up with black.. which isn't black IMO but a soft cool brown. I actually prefer it to the ABH brow wiz.), and the Jordana modern matte lipsticks.

    1. Interesting. Well I've only seen one review so far (I purposefully have avoided reviews because I don't like them to influence me), and it was positive (it wasn't EmilyNoel's). But I usually tend to agree with EmilyNoel's take on things, so I'm not surprised she liked it! I'll of course go into detail about why I love this in my review, but I think perhaps people may be going into it expecting something different...it really surprised me, in a good way!

  2. I'm curious about that HC review...
One thing I really like that I picked up at Walgreens when it had Rimmel on sale were the new BB creams. For 50 percent off I grabbed a matte and the radiance one. I thought I'd like the matte more because it's, well, matte, and I like it, but the radiance one works really well on me. I get coverage that's nearly as good as foundation and the light shade is a good match for my skin, with no turning orange or anything (oddly the matte one looks more orange and a touch darker on my skin). Plus it's good for touchups later in the day. It even held up during some yard work where I was sweating -- I dabbed my brow with a kleenex and no makeup came off so I was thrilled.
Also I'm still loving the bareMinerals pop of passion balms. I picked up a third and damn if those things don't deliver amazing color, especially the darker ones. They're not the most moisturizing formula ever, but I love how light they are and the beautiful stain they leave behind.

    1. The matte version has been a favorite of mine for over a year now. I never hear anyone talk about it.. I guess it got a really limited release the first time around, I was only able to find it at Kmart.. I'm seeing it everywhere now though.

    2. I guess the Rimmel BB creams aren't that new, but I wasn't blown away by the first ones they released. The matte and the radiance, though, work really well on me. Since the matte is a touch darker, I'm going to save that for summer.

  3. My latest "wow" product was Golden Peach Prismatic Eye Shadow from Nyx. And because of your review, I went back and got Punk Heart, too!

    1. The NYX prismatics slipped my mind when I posted my picks.. they are fantastic. My only gripe is that they cannot be depotted so I have to store/use them as singles. So creamy and pigmented, go on like a dream.
