Rite Aid +UP Rewards Are Now Plenti Points

If you're a Rite Aid Wellness+ member, then you've probably received your packet in the mail (along with a new card) by now, but just in case you haven't heard...

+UP Rewards to become Plenti Points

From the Rite Aid website:
Starting May 4th, begin earning Plenti points from Plenti partners in-store and online. Visit plenti.com/partners to learn more about how Plenti works with each partner.

Keep reading for more info and my thoughts about this new program so far...

Continued from the Rite Aid website:
Look for your welcome email from Plenti on May 4th if you provided an email in-store to finish signing up online, or you can also visit riteaid.com/plenti.
  • You will still earn wellness+ points at Rite Aid on purchases and prescriptions towards savings of up to 20% OFF almost the whole Rite Aid store for a year.
  • Now you can also earn Plenti points on things you buy every day at Plenti partners, including Rite Aid, valid for at least two years instead of two weeks
  • 200 Plenti points gets you at least $2 in savings at checkout at Rite Aid and certain other Plenti partners
  • +UP Rewards will transition to Plenti points.

Since this new program hasn't been implemented yet (it begins May 3rd), I cannot tell you anything about it other than what's been provided on the Rite Aid site HERE. However, I CAN tell you that the +UP Rewards that we know and love are now gone. This week (4/26 - 5/2) is a transition week, meaning that there are no +UP Rewards offers this week, as you'll see in my weekly drugstore sale wrap-up today, and there are also no Plenti Points offers, since this program rolls out on 5/3.

Starting on 5/3, you'll begin to see offers like this:

Sally Hansen sale at Rite Aid for week of 5/3

Above is a photo of one of the sales at Rite Aid that will begin on 5/3. As you can see, the BOGO1/2OFF deal is nothing new. But underneath, you can see that when you spend $15 on any of these Sally Hansen products, you'll receive 500 Plenti Points. Under that it states: "Use them for at least $5 in savings." The limit on the Plenti Points offer has not changed (it was almost always limit 2 for +UP Rewards offers). Also, the value of earned points seems on par with the value of earned +UP Rewards (we've seen lots of "spend $15 get $5+UP" offers in the past) and it appears that 500 Plenti Points has about the same value as $5 in +UP Rewards.

Plenti Points appears to be similar to Walgreens Balance Rewards points. You make qualifying purchases and you end up with a certain amount of points, which you can redeem in-store like store credit. BUT, you can also use these points at other participating retailers like Exxon/Mobile, Macy's and other retailers (more info about that here).

What I like about this so far: according to the Rite Aid website, your Plenti Points are valid for "at least two years," so they don't expire nearly as quickly as +UP Rewards did. That's very nice if you want to save up points and purchase something big (or make a big beauty haul). Also, as mentioned above, the value of Plenti Points seems equal to the value of +UP Rewards, and it looks like you won't have to spend any more than usual to earn them.

What I don't like about this so far: I'm old-school. I opted to have my +UP Rewards print on my receipt (vs. loaded to my card) because I like to have real, tangible coupons in my wallet (like CVS Extra Bucks). I feel like I'm more prone to strategize and maximize my savings when I actually have paper coupons in my wallet, vs. like at Walgreens where I just have to remember to redeem my points when I'm at the register. I couldn't find anything on the Rite Aid website about an option to have Plenti Points print on your receipt, so I don't think that's an option here (please correct me if I'm wrong!).

I really have no idea how I'm truly going to feel about Plenti Points until I actually get in there and start earning/using them. It's far too early to tell how this is going to change (if it will at all) my spending at Rite Aid, or have any type of opinion about the program aside from what I've stated above. I just wanted to do a post about Plenti Points before my weekly drugstore wrap-up, so that it doesn't take you by surprise when you see that there are no +UP Rewards this week.

I hope that helps, and if you have any questions about Plenti Points, I cannot answer them because this is all new to me as well. The only thing I can do at this point is refer you to the Rite Aid website here, and hopefully you can get your answers there.

  1. Everyone needs to follow the CVS example, they are the only drugstore that does points / rewards program right in my experience! Love my ExtraBucks!

    1. I agree. They are the only one I consciously use anymore. Walgreens is a joke.. I hardly ever wind up with any to spend, and never know when I'm going to get them.. I just use them on whatever I happen to be buying when they show up at checkout. Rite Aid already had the issue of having to wait to be able to use them.. which meant I had to make an entire separate trip on a separate day.. not convenient in the least. In fact it made me almost resent the points since they often take the place of a better sale yet I'm put out to use them, or forget and they go to waste.

  2. Hey G, I work at Macy's and we just went through training on this. Keep in mind this is for Macy's: your points balance will print on your receipt and it will also pop up on my register screen. We will have to ask every customer if they want to redeem their points. Their points balance will also pop up on the POS pad as the customer pays. The reason they are not printing actual coupons is because Plenti is going to be a multi-retailer program. You can earn points at participating retailers and then use them at whichever retailer you choose. It would be too confusing to have an actual coupon print out to be used across several stores. Also, as time goes on, more and more retailers will be added. It's a pretty cool concept. Surprised it took someone this long to figure it out!

  3. I absolutely agree- I have my UP Rewards printed out on the receipt, as it makes it easier to remember I have them. I find myself shopping at Wags a lot less since the whole points system was implemented- I feel like I'm saving more when I have an actual $$ amount to spend (like Extra Bucks). Also this system makes it much harder for households that have 1 card (like mine).

  4. I hadn't heard anything or gotten anything in the mail, so glad you wrote a post!

I like the wags system, I get points in store and for things like exercising, and I don't have to wait for the next day to use them. Plus, they don't expire

  5. CVS is my store of choice when I comes to rewards. Not sure how I'll like this new RA thing . I wasn't keen on the UPS thing anyway.

  6. I guess it would be more exciting if I shopped at any of those other places.... which I don't.

  7. I like the Wags points I guess. The lady at the cosmetics counter is always very helpful at mine and keeps a huge binder of coupons she shares on anything she can and gets the best deal for u. It just Walmart is cheaper on the makeu products to begin with. So unless I can't get it at Walmart I buy it at Wags and I know she is going to get me the best deal and always tells me. She explained the new cosmetics that have the butterfly wings is the lady that did Butter London I think and sold out. And started missing the creative side of things.bthw finger nail polish has a wing to help hold the the brush in a more comfortable position to paint ur nails. I likes it but was 8$ a bottle. I would rather by Sinful colors for the price. I love some of the colors. They have an Ombré mascara one side reg wand and the other side a small wand with a different color that is suppose to help enhance ur eye color. But doesn't tell u what one for which eye color. Got to know what u think would be the right color. The lipsticks she said takes a small amount and very pigmented. So just letting u know. Thought I was never getting away from that display and her telling me about. The wings colors tell u what products r right for u I think she said. U might want to check me out on all that. I have hard time remembering everything and I was there for that little talk for about 20 mon or more. My husband left and went and sat down in pharmacy. We don't have a big one as it is. I was looking for ten pan WNW pallets and the center stage collection and they had nothing. But I'm in the middle of the country and takes forever to get the new stuff I was told and I believe it. I hope this helps a little. I wish I could remember why she told me to wait to the end of the year to redeem my wags points. Sorry if I so will let u know. U have my permission to edit my comments down and leave out too much of the info at any time. My mom was a newspaper owner and editor well both parents were writers so I know what it means. Thanks.

  8. I work at Macys and had my training on Plenti a couple weeks ago. I think it's going to be a pain in the butt to be honest. Plenti is replacing customer's reward certificates, and I know people will be upset with that, at least at my store they will be. As time goes on, it will be less confusing I'm sure, but right now, I'm not too optimistic about it :/

  9. My Wellness + account says I have $9 to use at Rite Aid, but they may be lost on some old receipt, or the site may not have updated info. At any rate, I feel like I have money that is tied up somewhere. And no one has been able to explain to me how the points on my old card will transfer to the new system. The employees in-store and customer service over the phone don't seem to be knowledgeable about the new system. As I recall, Rite Aid is late to the game of having a rewards program anyway, so maybe there will be growing pains like this. CVS EXTRA BUCKS NOW AND FOREVER AMEN.

  10. I've already been locked out of my account because the password I made isn't working, and the only way to do anything about it is call a phone number. No email, no chat, and the people at rite aid can't do anything to help. (I know it's the right one I had my browser save it)The card won't work on my rite aid account, so my wellness+ points (that were supposed to be changed into plenti points) are useless since the wellness+ card is deactivated. It's a mess, and I oficially hate plenti.
