The Lipstick League - week of 1.5.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

What’s your beauty resolution for 2015?

G's answer: I never keep resolutions, so I stopped making them years ago. However, if I WERE to make a beauty resolution this year, it would be to color my roots more regularly (I have a tendency to let them go waaaay beyond what's probably deemed "acceptable" by most people!). Actually, I would resolve to take better care of my hair in general--more deep conditioning and trims throughout the year.

  1. I resolve not to over-wash my face. I go crazy with skin care samples, so eager to try multiple kinds in the same week, and inevitably it leads to breakouts which can lead to scarring. PATIENCE!

  2. I'm only allowing myself 15 makeup purchases in 2015!

  3. My resolution is to tone down my nail polish and lip gloss hauls and to savor what I already have. My polish collection is quite large and needs to be swatched into my binder book. And all the polishes need to be used. Sorry to say that unless I use multiple colors on each hand I possibly can't wear all my polishes in one year. I had fun buying, now I gotta use them all.

  4. Oh, G...I love your blog and I've been reading it for years. We're the same age, give or take a couple months so I enjoy the perspective from someone who couldn't be my daughter. But grey hair...I stripped all my colour off last year and resolved to let it happen. Of course, mine is silver (like my Dad's, think Emmylou Harris) and I know it will be pretty eventually, if I can just be patient. The response from strangers(!) has been varied, but mostly positive. I look young anyway (like you) and it doesn't really age me; people still think I'm in my early 30's. If you don't mind it then don't buy into the hegemony. My hair is in a lot better shape since I stopped colouring it.

    1. Thank you SO much!!

It's so funny that you say that, because I am so behind on coloring my roots that I currently have this gray streak in my bangs that I've been calling my "Bonnie Raitt tribute". Lol! The response, just like with you, has been so positive that it's almost shocking! My hair is already pretty light, so the streak isn't that bold, but I honestly get a little freaked out sometimes when I catch a glimpse in the mirror. I'm sure most of it is societal but I just don't think I'm quite ready to let it all grow in right now. As you know, it's a big step but I'm sure I'll get there eventually! I'm getting ready to cover my "tribute" this week, but thank you so much for the inspiration. My boyfriend already loves my gray streak, but I guess I just have to love it a bit more before I go all in. Kudos to you! I'm sure you look GORGEOUS! :) xoxo

  5. My goal is to buy less and use up more. Also, I'm kind of behind on doing roots, too, and I'm seeing more grays. I, too, have a bit of a gray streak, which I sort of like. I can't help but think of Nightmare on Elm Street when it grows out (The 1984 one) even though it's not that big a streak.
