Beauty News (New Product Launches, Acquisitions and More)

If you're new to this blog, occasionally I like to share with you various news tidbits related to the beauty world. So here's a round-up of noteworthy beauty news for your Sunday reading...

NEW John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Collection
(with the return of an old favorite)

  • Remember back in October I mentioned that John Frieda was going to bring back a fan favorite and that you could vote for your choice? Well the voting is over and they've just made the announcement. Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea Spray is BACK (but the name has changed):
"Starting on Monday, November 17 there will be a pre-sale of the revamped Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray on Target.com. The beach spray will be available in 2015 along with three other items."
The "three other items" are new and pictured above. Read more HERE. (Thanks very much to reader Hilary E. for that link!)

  • Bite Beauty was just acquired by LVMH (they were actually acquired by Kendo, which is a division of LVMH. Kendo also owns Marc Jacobs Beauty, Kat Von D Beauty, Formula X, and Elizabeth and James fragrance)

  • On December 1st, Unilever will launch Dry Spray antiperspirants in the US (already wildly popular in other countries, apparently) under their Degree Women, Degree Men, Dove, Dove Men+Care and AXE brands.
"Featuring a new formula with no water or alcohol, and a precision-designed actuator that produces a unique soft spray, the new Dry Spray goes on instantly dry without the sticky or wet sensation often associated with other antiperspirants."

  1. I'm so excited for the dry spray antiperspirants!!! I have sensitive underarms which has caused me to have dark underarms. I read spray deodorants are the most hygienic because they don't make physical contact so I have been getting mine mine from Mexico but having it available here is great news. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. Hair primers...I've seen one by Nuance (Salma Hayek) at cvs, its a pump spray and has the word soy in it (as in soybean, not Spanish, hehe) and I'm not really sure why I would need to add it to my routine, but it has been intriguing me. I think the idea is that you'll get more mileage out of a blowout or style etc. ?? I think I've heard that they cut drying time in half as well. I wonder if they boost the proformance of other products like the oils/serums and conditioning balms I use?...I never use gel, hairspray, mousse or most general styling products...just like to use good for the hair stuff that also acts as a mild styler/fuzzy tamer.

    1. There are a few other, BTZ, Tigi, Living Proof all come to mind because I've tried them but I know there are a lot more.

  3. I have naturally curly hair, but the winter is challenging. I use a Redken product now to help my hair out (that I just love), but it gets a bit costly. I'm looking forward to trying the John Frieda

  4. I am very excited that they are bringing the blonde collection back. I loved that stuff when I was younger, my mom would buy it for me all the time!!! I wonder if it will be sulfate free shampoo! I hope so, except I use Wen now a days so I'm not sure if I'd try using this or not.

  5. That is a shame about Bite Beauty being taken over by a large company. I wonder if it will remain food grade? It was nice to be able to get an all natural product at Sephora.

  6. I was sent the full Beach Blonde line for review a few weeks ago (but was under orders not to discuss it till the press release) and am so excited because I've been waiting for them to bring it back! The shampoo and conditioner were part of the original line 10 years ago, but these formulas might be tweaked just a little bit. They still smell exactly the same though...beachy with a hint of mint. I'm a little disappointed they brought back the Sun Streaks spray and not the gel, because the gel was my favorite! The Wave Spray is amazing though...I've never tried another one I like as much!

    1. Thank you SO much, Florence! I didn't see that on their FB so I really appreciate you sharing! I'm wondering how it will compare to the OPI version since both brands are owned by Coty!

  9. For Bite Beauty I wonder if the formula will change. I hope not because they are great the way they are.

  10. I literally gasped out loud that Target is going to sell Nuxe! Their lip balm and oils are so amazing!! There is nothing else like them sold in the US. Not cheap, but worth every single penny.
