The Lipstick League - week of 10.6.14

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

When applying your makeup, do you stand or sit? Where do you apply it? In your bedroom, bathroom or…?

G's answer: When I was younger I always stood at the bathroom mirror to do my makeup. Now that I'm older and I need to get a bit closer to the mirror (thanks, deteriorating vision!) I sit at a little vanity in my spare room which is also where my desk and all things blog-related are located.

  1. Even though I have a vanity with a stool, I always stand to do my makeup. I have no idea why. I feel like I can get my face closer to the mirror. Haha!

  2. I'm all overthe the place... For the past few years I changed to standing in front of my TV to put on makeup, sit on bed to dry my hair, then stand in the bathroom to style my hair. Years ago I did it all sitting on the floor in front of a big mirror, then sittingin a chair in front of a small mirror. My latest standing set up is the best for me, it gets me moving faster and keeps me more awake and alert.

    Great question.

  4. I've always stood. Now I use my bathroom mirror since I have a nice big bathroom. I used to do it in my bedroom since I had a smaller bathroom. I guess I agree with Rachel, I feel I can get closer to the mirror if I stand and lean towards it.

  5. Usually the bathroom, super close to the mirror if I'm not wearing contacts that day. Or I might sit down somewhere with a hand mirror to apply liner and mascara, if I want to get really close and precise.

    1. I always longed for a proper vanity too! I'll be moving soon and it is high up there on the priority list. Doesn't have to be fancy, just a table with drawers from Home Goods and a mirror to hang on the wall up above it, done! I sit at the kitchen table with a cheapy swivel mirror from F21, sometimes I go to the bathroom for the bigger mirror advantage but the kitchen has the best natural light in the day.

  8. I do face makeup standing up in the bathroom, and I always do my eyes in the car. I like to have the natural light, and my mom always did her makeup in the car, too, so I feel like I am carrying on some of her habits.

  9. I don't have room for a vanity so I'm stuck (standing) in the bathroom, luckily I have a bar of vanity lights (100w reveal full spectrum bulbs) so my light is good. There is a small privacy wall between the toilet and vanity.. I had my husband mount a two way magnifying/regular mirror there at exactly the right height for my face so I can get "up close and personal". that $5 mirror is one of the best purchases I've ever made.
