Did Revlon Add a Pump to The Colorstay Foundation Bottle?

Longtime reader Colby (@thisiscolbyspeaking on Instagram) just let me know that Revlon posted something VERY interesting on their Facebook page a few hours ago:

Do you see that? A PUMP! On Colorstay foundation!

Now, a while back, a reader who lives in Australia mentioned that Australians were getting a pump on their Colorstay bottles, but I had no idea that this might be coming to the US as well! (If you were the reader who mentioned that, please comment below so I can thank you for that tip!)

Have any of you here in the US spotted Colorstay pump bottles in your area yet? I'm so curious as to when (or if) these will start to be widespread here in the states. Fingers crossed that it's very soon!

Thanks so much, Colby, for the keen eye and great tip!

  1. I hope they come to Indonesia as well! :D

Revlon has just updated their ColorStay foundation by increasing the SPF number, from 6 to 15/20. But the cap is still the old one.

I plan to buy a new one, since I got the wrong shade last time I bought it. And I hope it's pump cap already when I do *finger crossed*

    Thanks for sharing this x

  3. Yes. Here in India they did add a pump at least a year ago.

  4. Just bought another bottle of colorstay during the Ulta sale and no pumps on any of those yet but this is exciting! I always waste so much product by accidentally dumping out too much.

  5. I've seen the new packaging for the powder creep up in the CVS I work at! But it's weird because we get the old packaging one week and the new one other weeks.. I'm really hoping the pump comes around soon, I'm so excited!!

  6. The pump bottles came out in Australia last year but they CHANGED the formula. It's TERRIBLE. Haven't bought a bottle since. It used to be called Revlon Colorstay with Softflex SPF 6- that was the bomb, stayed on all day. This one has been reformulated with a higher SPF (SPF 15 for the combo/oily and SPF 20 normal/dry) with more slip and silicone to make it easier to blend. But it’s terrible, doesn’t last at all, 5 hours at most and the shades are much more paler. I wear Sand Beige in the old formula, fits me perfectly but the new one in the combo/oily formula is so pale! In the end i gave up on the new formula, i went and snapped up all the remaining old Colorstay at a local discount store. People were complaining about how hard it was to apply the old formula but I never had any troubles- use a sponge or blender and you’ll get the most natural full coverage ever. And use an oil based makeup remover to get it off. Simple.

And i noticed they did indeed changed the formula in America too but they kept the old bottle, no pump so it created a bit of confusion because Revlon didn’t even bothered to confirm they changed the formula. And they removed the SPF, it doesn't state that it has SPF on the bottle anymore, that's how you tell if it is the old or new formula. SPF 6 = old formula. No SPF = new formula.

Sorry about this long rant but I’m disappointed that Revlon has decided to change this iconic product, they should of kept the old formula and just added a pump to it. I still have a stockpile of the old ones but I’m alternating with other brands such as Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation and Covergirl Aquasmooth. I’ll reserve Revlon Colorstay for extremely hot summer days.

    1. So the formula in Australia is currently different from the latest one in the U.S.? That's so confusing! I guess I better stock up on my pump-less Colorstays...

  7. That's my favorite foundation! I really hope it becomes available in the US!

  8. Ooh! Score! I hate that this foundation doesn't have a pump. It's soo good but I hate dumping it out on my hand and wasting product.

  9. I had been noticing recently that my Walmart hadn't been restocking the Colorstay foundations very well. This could be why I suppose and boy do I hope this happens!

  10. I'm in Japan and we've always had a pump on our Revlon products. I've always wondered why the US market didn't.

  11. I asked on Revlon's facebook if colorstay foundation in US was getting a pump. There answer was "Great question! Keep checking www.revlon.com for exciting new innovations."
I am guessing that is a yes because I asked this when I first saw other countries were getting pumps and was told there were no plans to produce it in the US with pump....

    1. I just got excited and bought them today. I've now read that they may have changed the formula, so I'll have to test this to see if I need to stockpile the old formula.
Hopefully it won't give me "ghostface" like some SPF can do in some foundation for dark skin.

  14. As a longtime user of Revlon Colorstay, I was quite excited when I came across the new pump bottles at our Walmart in NC! I was so excited that I ditched my old bottle that I still had a little left in just because its now CONVENIENT!

  15. This is exciting! Does anyone know if it is available in Canada yet? I hope this product comes to Canada soon. I am 58 years old and have tried many, many foundations over the years; both high end and drug store brands. Revlon Colorstay has been the absolute best for me. I hope the new formula isn't "monkeyed" with. I currently use the Sand Beige in Normal/Dry. I have tried transferring the foundation into a bottle that has a pump, but it is messy and time consuming and I am not sure it is worth the effort.

    1. I just ordered Colorstay Oily/Combo from London Drugs (on the west coast) and to my surprise it was in a pump bottle. The formula is totally different. It is much lighter in texture and very blendable now. So far I like it, but I am afraid the formula will break me out as most other drugstore foundations tend to. I am happy about increased SPF though. Not sure on the lasting power on my super oily skin since I've only used it a couple of times.

  16. I'm not sure what they changed but I'm entirely breaking out in an itchy rash on my face since changing to the pump. Really disappointed. I've been using this product for years with no previous issues.

  17. Is the new pump bottle formula the same as the reformulated version? Or did they revert back to the old softflex version? If you bought the new pump bottle, can you post the ingredients? I'm dying to know if they changed the formulation. I actually don't mind the reformulated 2013 version, now that I have drier skin due to ageing, I'm finding it glides on better. I'm actually hoping they don't revert back to the old softflex formula. The old softflex formula has water as it's first ingredients whereas the reformulated version has silicone (cyclpentaxisolane, wrong spelling but it's something like that)as the first ingredient. Anyone who bought the new pump bottle, check the ingredients and please tell. And in Australia, we got the pump version already in 2013, don't know why it has taken so long for the US market to get it.

    1. I just got a pump bottle from Amazon, and was surprised so I googled and ended up here. The ingredients (on the Normal/Dry) do start with the silicone, and then list water as the second ingredient.

  18. Are the shades still the same? Apparently they are more darker and golden now? If that's true, then it's good news for me, Sand Beige has always been a tad grey for me, a hint of yellow would make it my HG. I am getting impatient, i am only seeing the new bottles in the dry/normal formula but none of the oily/combo have got it yet.

  19. I finally got my paws on the new colorstay bottles, combo/oily in sand beige 180. The pump is nice. It's the exact same formula as the 2013 reformulation. The shade is the same too. We already got a pump in Australia back in 2013 when they reformulated it. I don't know why it took so long for the US market to get one. Now I've been reading reviews how some of the shades are darker now with the new pump. Don't know, it could be the normal/dry formula that's been changed. I don't see any difference in the new pump combo/oily bottle. Anyway I'm all happy now, peace and order has been restored, I can now happily use my Revlon colorstay foundation. The 2013 reformulation has more silicone in it so it provides more slip but it's less coverage now compared to the old softflex SPF 6 formula. Anyway, I hope the new pump will make Revlon colorstay foundation more popular again, it's not as popular these days because everyone has moved on to L'Oreal, Maybelline and all these high end/trendy brands like too faced, urban decay etc. I can now say I'm firmly back with Revlon colorstay now.

  20. I have worn Colorstay Normal/Dry for so many years, and love it - color (Nude in winter, Buff in summer) is perfect and lasts all day. I just received my first pump bottles - both colors are different (darker) than the original shades, which I still have on hand to compare. The new bottle of Nude is even darker than the old bottle of Buff. I am so disappointed. The pump is a great idea but not if the color changes. Darn.

  21. I think they changed the shades for the normal/dry formula. I don't see any changes in the combo/oily formula. I have to mix 2 shades in the combo/oily, sand beige and buff. Sand beige is really neutral grey. I add a tiny bit of buff which is lighter and and a touch more yellow to make it less grey. I wish they made sand beige a yellow undertone. Revlon always do this, whenever they change packaging, they always change the formula and everyone hates it.

  22. I'm looking at images of the new Revlon colorstay foundation on the ulta website, they are the only ones with images of the new pump bottles (but they still haven't updated the ingredient listing, that's from the old softflex formula, laziness and oversight from them)and the normal/dry looks heaps darker than the combo /oily bottles. Sand beige in normal/dry looks 2 shades darker than sand beige in combo/oily.
