The L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara has landed in the US!

I've got good news and I've got bad news for you today, Nouvettes. First, the good news: the L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara has landed! This mascara been in the UK for months now (you can see my post here with a video of the UK commercial). So yay! It's here!

Now the bad news: unlike the UK version, it appears that there are no colored mascaras in the US range. The UK version comes in Black, Violet and Turquoise, but you're about to see that the US version comes in Black, Blackest Black and Black Brown. But more good news: if you're a mega-volume fan when it comes to mascara, this might be just the ticket. I personally can't wait to try it based on the UK reviews I've seen (if you love a bit of "drama" to your mascaras, which I do, then check out this review shown after one coat and then after two coats). Also, this appears to be a new permanent collection (I don't see the words "limited edition" anywhere on the display or packaging).

Many thanks to reader Erma Bomblack (@snarkysmachine on Twitter <--quite possibly the best Twitter handle I've ever seen!) who spotted the Miss Manga display at her local Wegmans. Erma was nice enough to share lots of pics with us:

Erma confirmed that there were three shades in this display: Black, Blackest Black and Black Brown. Here are some close-ups of Blackest Black:

Are you a mega-volume, dramatic-impact mascara fan? If so, do you think you'll give this one a whirl? I"m guessing it should be popping up at the major drugstore chains in the next few weeks. To date, this mascara has received an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Makeup Alley.

Thanks so much, Erma, for the great sighting, pics and info. I really appreciate it!

    1. There are tons of UK reviews online (I linked to one in my post and I also linked to the Makeup Alley reviews). Hope that helps!

  8. I'll have to wait and see some reviews. I was pretty disappointed with L'Oreal's Butterfly Effect mascara. Hopefully this one is better.

  9. Anyone else think the package looks odd for L'oreal?
I guess I'm use to the the "higher end" look that they have for the drugstore.

    1. It's because it's manga -inspired. It's definitely Kawaii.

    2. It has something to do with manga, which I assume is Japanese comics...

  11. Just to clarify, you said there are three shades: black, deepest black, and black brown. But the mascara in the pics says blackest black? i'm thinking that deepest and blackest just got mixed up but I wanted to make sure!

  13. L'oreal, Maybelline, YSL and Lancome share the same ingredients in their mascaras. Wouldn't be suprised if this one had the same formula of one of Maybelline's mascaras.

    1. I know that all of those brands are owned by L'Oreal, but I have to disagree with you here! Maybelline mascaras generally work very well for me, but I have had 20+ years of only so-so experiences with L'Oreal mascaras. I always mention this in my L'Oreal mascara reviews, but there's a specific ingredient in L'Oreal mascaras that does not work with my oily skin. It makes their mascaras fade and smudge on me, and this goes for just about every one that I've ever tried. But there are some Maybelline mascaras that never smudge or fade for me. So I can't agree with you that they all share the same ingredients (or even if some do, something must be different with proportions because L'Oreal mascara never works the same for me as Maybelline).

That said, I never give up trying new L'Oreal mascaras because they work so well for others and I always hold out hope that I'll find one that doesn't fade/smudge! Lol! So if this one IS more like a Maybelline formula that would be awesome!! :)

  16. Hmmm I think my comment went poof. I don't see any bad news to this, WAY too many mascaras are only coming out in black, I can't wear black mascara. So I'm pretty excited by this!

  19. I checked out the review link. All she needed was to comb her lashes to separate them and they would have been lovely. I cannot think of one mascara I've used that I don't follow up with a clean spoolie brush or a metal mascara comb.

    1. Female manga characters generally have thick lashes, so that's why this mascara is thick like that. But I agree with you that you could probably use a lash comb if you didn't like the clumping. :)

  21. I'd probably snag one for the cute packaging alone, but I love dramatic lashes and L'oreal always works well for me so I'll be excited to find this!

  22. I dropped money on this to get it shipped to me from the UK and I think it was well worth the extra money (and the wait). I HIGHLY recommend this mascara to everyone. I LOVE it!

  25. I bought the One in Blackest Black today at my CVS store in Woburn, MA.
    i payed $8.99

I tried it on already :) and i Luv it. My lashes have volume and a curl without using the Lash Curler. It adds alot of Drama.

I really hope they come out with the colored ones. Please L'oreal!!
