The Wednesday Question

Share with us your most recent impulse-beauty-purchase from the drugstore. How has that product been working for you? Any regrets?

My last impulse-purchase was the new Palmer's Cocoa Butter Tinted Lip Balm in the flavor Dark Chocolate & Cherry. You'll have to wait for my review (coming this week) to see if it was a regret!

  3. I stocked up on the NYX single eyeshadows, on clearance at ULTA. I sorta regretted buying so much, because I didn't really need them; I WANTED THEM! But I haven't been let down by NYX, and I love their eyeshadows!

  4. Olay exfoliating something or other. One of the new ones. UGH, it was a regret. I had an allergic reaction and my face swelled!

    1. Was it the new Fresh Effects: Out of this Swirled?? I've considered buying it but won't if that's the case. I have extremely sensitive skin.

  5. Not drugstore, but when I was last in Ulta I wandered over to Lorac - always bad news for me! I picked up the Baked Matte Satin Blush in Exposed and OMG....gorgeous!!! It has one of the most beautiful finishes on the cheek I've ever seen....I bet there's a dupe for it in the new NYX Baked Blushes though :-/

  9. I bought one the Revlon highlighting palette in recently on impulse (okay I bought it because it looked like a bobbi brown shimmer brick which i've always wanted but never wanted to spend $40 on) and I really like it!!

  10. All the clearance priced NYX gift sets at Target last month. Also all the Pacifica gift sets. No regrets?

  11. That will be Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter & Warm Vanilla Body Wash. Although I like it so far, I don't know if it will be a replacement for my beloved St.Ives Indulgent Coconut Milk Triple Butters Body Wash.

  12. Bought the new Dove Pistachio with Magnolia body wash. It smells divine and I absolutely love it! I'm so glad I purchased it!

  13. The NYC Big Bold Curl Mascara. I don't love it, but I don't hate it.

  14. A Jessie's Girl Julie G lipstick. In the tube it looked like a bright coral but on my lips it was a rather pastel peach, actually kind of sickly looking. It applied very poorly, settling into the grooves of my lips. I've never had a lipstick do that before. Just awful.

  15. I purchased the Maybelline Baby Skin. I still can't tell if I like it or not. For some reason it feels like I get greasier throughout the day when I use it….

  16. Hmmm... It would totally be the Wet 'n Wild Pencil Stains. They are okay, but I prefer the Fergie high gloss stains. Those are perfection!

  17. I've been looking for the mint and dark chocolate one! G, what drugstore did you find yours at?

  18. Mine was the super cute Vaseline rosy lip balm.
Oh my! I adore it! I need like 4 more little tubs so I can keep one in my car, one in my purse, one on my desk, and one next to bed!

  19. Sinful Colors Daisy Daze polish from the Mod in Bloom collection. I just got it today so I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it looks like the perfect "banana pudding" shade I've been looking for.

  20. One of the newish WnW lip stain/balm crayon thingies and I hate it - so pretty at first then it turns this flaming orangey pink stain that doesn't come off... at least it had a coupon and was cheap!

  21. I had a little haul yesterday and impulse-bought a Revlon Nearly Naked foundation, a tube of teal Great Lash, and one of the new Milani Glitter polishes. So far, no regrets.

  22. I bought some of the new Wet N Wild Style Award polishes: The pink pearl plus the lavender and taupe shimmers. I love them all, but I wish the pink was a touch darker.

  23. NYC Applelicious lip balm

    NYC mascara

I'm sold on both, especially when purchased at Rite Aid during a BOGO FREE sale.

I'll come back later with product details.

  24. Most recently a bunch of chubby lip pencils: WnW (no..transfer/wear off badly and all stain bright pink), neutrogena (no.. transfer/wear off badly), NYC (no.. same issue), Rimmel (amazing, new HG lip product). Also one of the new Rimmel HD shadows but I haven't had a chance to use it, and one each of the new Black Radiance trios and quints (both nice, I went back for two more quints but I don't like the colors of any of the other trios).

  25. Bought OPI Emotions at TJMaxx for $4... went to Ulta later it was on sale for 3.34. Yeah, I know it's only 66 cents. But I'm one of THOSE people lol

  26. My latest impulse buy was the palladio rice powder. I bought it because I wanted a loose setting powder, but I regret it because it's so heavily scented and messy!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Physician's Formula Nude Wear Concealer - I only bought it because I wanted the $7 extra bucks at CVS LOL but it's alright..I ended up paying $8 for it but definitely not worth the money. There was a bunch of clearance makeup at my Kmart today because they are entirely redoing their cosmetics section and I bought Loreal's Forever Frappe Lipstick for $5..it was nice, but I felt like it was average for the typical drugstore lipstick price I paid. I also bought a Wet n Wild lipstick in Rosebud because nowhere but Kmart sells this shade. I never regret buying WnW products!

  28. the new olay swirl eye cream i think i like it so far it really hydrate under my eyes without causing any millia but still need to give it more time . n also picked the garnier over night peel had it before n my skin was looking its best before n my acne scars all disappeared but i thought it was my moisturizer n my new clean eating habits by then. However, last month i had a couple of break out n left red spots that are not showing any sign of fading so picked it again a week ago n they are almost gone! + it makes my skin super soft so that's a HG for me
n for makeup i picked the new rose gold eyeliner from loreal n love it! it is the perfect inner corner highlighter

  31. I bought physician formula organic cc cream light. But it isn't light enough for me. I tried other super cc. But it happened same thing. I always use light thing. So physician cc isn't light , it is like medium. Actually I like physician cc formula except the color :)

    1. same here! If you're talking about the PF CC creme formula in the compact, same thing but worse...it was wayyy too dark for something with a "light" label. It looks orangey in the pan, but I decided to try it anyway and yup, it was dark. It also immediately settled into my pores leaving my face with dots. On top of that it made little dry spots that I had moisturised prior to applying suddenly reappear. The texture was very greasy to boot! Total impulse buy, it's not like I really "needed", needed it, just still ISO the perfect BB/CC etc. Good thing Rite Aid has a great return policy, as do cvs and walgreens. My other recent impulse buys would be nail polish, too many in the past month to mention, but generally speaking I'm usually satisfied with most np, so no regrets there.

  32. the revlon matte balm in striking... the color's alright, but it goes on streaky and kinda sits on my lips weirdly. it feels like this thin sort-of-greasy-but-not-really-greasy layer? except it's matte. i don't know. it's weird. :P

  33. Not really impulse: but i got the ulta foaming oil cleanser. It's free of essential oils, silicones, and fragrance--very few cleansing oils can claim this so I picked it up for my super sensitive skin. Only have used it for a couple days as a cleansing oil (and follow with my normal cleanser) and like it so far. I can't use it in my eye area but other than that, it works well.

  34. I bought the new NYX Invincible Fullest Cover Foundation and use it as a concealer. I've used it the past couple days and it seems to be working pretty well for me. I like the opaque coverage, the fact that it's lighter textured than most concealers I've been using, and it wears all day without settling into lines under my eyes. So far so good.

  35. Rimmel Kate Moss matte lipstick in 107. I have always had trouble finding the right red lipsticks, and this one hit it out of the park. Perfect vampy red for my pale skintone. I absolutely adore it. Also, WnW Fergie shimmer palette in Rose Champagne Glow. I have been looking for the right highlight for a while now, so I bought this one on a whim -- mostly because I had a coupon. Oh my god! Holy grail! I have tried so many, and this one is definitely it. I don't usually have this sort of luck with impulse purchases. Very satisfied!

  36. My last impulse buys were WnW Wild Shine polish in Rain Check and their eyeliner pencil in Violet during CVS' b1g1 50% off sale. I haven't tried the polish yet, but the eyeliner wouldn't work for me...or I just suck at eyeliner. It looked really flaky.

  37. My last impulse by was WnW Flirting at the after party, and honestly, I'm very disappointed with the pallet. No pigmentation when I apply with any of my brushes.

  38. I loveeeeee my new Maybelline elixirs! I have breathtaking apricot & nude illusion

  39. The Rimmel Stay Matte primer - looks good at first, but makes me look dry and patchy before long. It doesn't help (and might actually hurt) the staying power of my face makeup. But I got it for $2.50, so I'm keeping it anyway.

However, I'm in love with the Milani lipstick in Pretty Natural! So lovely. Absolutely worth the impulse buy.

  40. I bought the new china glaze gelaze gel polishes at Sally's and I don't think I like them. My friend and I used the two colors I just bought on the BOGO sale and the gel shrinks! That's even before I cure it I have tip wear!!! It's a total regret, I think.

I also bought the l'oreal youth code Texture Perfector Serum and I like what it does for my skin but I think my skin is breaking out a little? Like I have a ton of little bumps around my face but I can't tell if this is what's breaking me out.

  42. Target had a punch of NYX "Love in...." on clearance. I purchased two and I regret it! They look like ashy glitter and the pigmentation stinks...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well I just got back from Ulta and snagged the NYX Tinted Moisturizer, and two higher end items Lorac Pocket Pro and Urban Decay 24/7 trio. I had no buisness doing any of this.
