Spotted: NEW Wet n Wild Fergie Take On The Day Mattifying Powder

Here's one that's totally new to me (I haven't even heard anything about it from my contact at Wet n Wild yet!). Thanks to two lovely readers for this sighting--both readers found this new powder at Walgreens this week. First up, some pics from reader Lorraine:

The compact readers:
Feel shiny within, not without! Revolutionary light-reflecting powder contains porous silica beads, which absorb oil and minimize shine. Lightweight powder feels weightless on the skin without adding color, and sets with a luminous soft-focus finish.
Directions: Use alone or over makeup to set and seal foundation. Brush powder lightly and evenly over face and neck. May be used throughout the day for touch-ups and to rid shine.

I know that some drugstore brands make LOOSE colorless silica powders (NYX Studio Finishing Powder, e.l.f. Studio High Definition Powder and Ruby Kisses Set n Forget HD Powder come to mind), but I'm trying to think of another drugstore brand that currently makes a PRESSED silica powder and I'm drawing a blank (Hard Candy used to make one, but they discontinued it a few years ago).

At any rate, this is very exciting because this might be a nice, affordable alternative to the NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder ($34), MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder ($25), Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder ($36), Laura Mercier Smooth Focus Pressed Setting Powder ($34), etc.

Have you spotted this new powder from Wet n Wild in your area yet? Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Lorraine and Jenn, for the great sighting and pics. I really appreciate it!

  2. Good! I am running out of my back up of Welcome Matte so I hope this one is comparable.

  3. Essence has a powder much like the NARS light reflecting pressed powder! Its called 'mattifying fixing powder' --it has the same silica, finely milled feel to it! Can't wait for wet n' Wilde's version though!!! :)

  8. A pressed silica powder that I can think of is the Urban Decay one. I have it and it's pressed white, translucent, i actually love it! Not sure if it's actually silica powder though.

    1. It's not just a translucent powder. As I mentioned in this post, it's a silica powder, and there's a big difference, in terms of texture, feel, finish and potential capabilities when compared to a traditional pressed translucent powder.

  13. This looks awesome! I've been looking for a good mattifying powder. I use the Rimmel one currently, but I find myself not loving it as much as I used to

    1. Same here Katy, I feel as if I was in love with the Rimmel powder when I first got it and now I reach for it less and less.

    2. I have been using the rimmel stay matte for years. And I'm ready for a change. I have extremely oily skin. So I'm truly hoping this will work. If not any other suggestions.

    1. Thanks, Liza! I think that one of the Rite Aids here recently reset their Black Opal display but I didn't look closely at the face stuff since it all looked the same as before. Now I need to go back and look again! :)

    1. Since its cheap you should give it a shot (CVS allow returns I know), while silica irritates my skin it controls oil really well for a lot of people. I only wish this had been around before I got stuck with a container of MUFE I can't use lol

  20. Bought it and love it! I was using on occasion the Rimmel, but so much hype and really didn't care for that one at all. For $4.99, come on..you cannot go wrong!
