Halloween 2013: Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Collections (Round One)

'Tis the season for Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild! If you're a longtime reader of this blog, you know that I've been covering the Fantasy Makers collections for years now, and my favorite part of these collections is always the Tombstone Polishes. I haven't seen (or had a reader sighting) of the Fantasy Makers Tombstone Polishes for 2013 yet but if you find them, please, please do let us know! I'm always excited to see the colors each year!

Readers Sandi and Sonja spotted some of the 2013 Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Collections at Rite Aid this week and they were both nice enough to share some pics. If you're new to the Fantasy Makers Collections, there are TONS of displays that come out each year (take a look at how many of them were available for 2011, just to get an idea). Not all drugstores carry all displays, and the selection varies from retailer to retailer (in previous years, Kmart has carried a huge floor display, whereas Rite Aid seems partial to counter displays). Also, be sure to check your local Halloween Stores for these as well (sometimes Halloween Store and even Party City can carry more products than the drugstores will offer).

So take a look at what is now popping up at Rite Aid which is, historically, the first to put out the Fantasy Makers displays each year:

Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Painter's Palettes
(retail: $2.99 each at Rite Aid)

The Painter's Palettes are NOT new for 2013. But I think at least one of these palettes has some new colors that weren't around last year.

Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Hauntingly Hip Palettes
(retail: $5.99 each at Rite Aid)

These cream eyeshadow/face paints are not new either, but I think there are some new shades here. You can check out my review from 2011 of the cream palettes here.

Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Wicked Look Sets
(retail: $4.99 each at Rite Aid)

My second-favorite collection each year from Fantasy Makers is the eyeshadow duos with the mini polishes, mini lipsticks and lashes. So fun and a nice deal for $4.99 total.

The other day, reader Kristin left a comment here on the blog confirming that "the much-loved black & red" eyeshadow duo is BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR! (Thanks so much, Kristin, for confirming that.)  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here and going a few years back, they used to come in round pots like this

NAIL POLISH FANS: Sometimes Wet n Wild releases new shades in these sets so keep your eyes peeled--they're not always just reds and blacks--one year they had a really pretty, sparkly midnight blue mini.

While we're at it, I hope that WnW brings back the full-size black lipstick again this year (you can see my swatches of it here--it's great for darkening reds).

Fantasy Makers by Wet n Wild Ghoulish Glitz Collection
(retail: $2.99 each at Rite Aid)

There are no new products in this display, however there seem to be new SHADES here.  For instance, I don't remember an orange in the Glitter Gel range from previous years. They usually offer us clear and blue gels.

The gold liquid liner is not new, but the last time I remember seeing it was back in 2009 (you can view my really crappy pics of it here).

think this black liner shade is new for this year.

You can see my review of Magical from 2011 here (I LOVE these liners--they have great staying power and look beautiful layered over a solid colored liner). Also of note: I don't see the purple liner this year. Hum...maybe it will appear in another display.

I think this gold powder is new, but don't quote me on that.

I love this holo powder and I'm so glad WnW released it again this year. Take a look at it on my nails here

I would expect that my beloved Tombstone Polishes should be popping up in the next few weeks, and who knows? We might see colored mascaras and hair paint again, as well as more lashes, full-size lipsticks, glow in the dark polishes, and even nail stickers like last year. It's fun to see what WnW comes out with each year in their Fantasy Makers line, so if you spot anything not featured in this post, please do let us know!

Thanks so much, Sandi and Sonja, for the great pics and info. I really appreciate it!

  1. Yes! Halloween stuff are coming out, this is the best time of the year! Although what sucks about makeup in Finland is they don't really follow collections. They add new products that are more permanent once in a while, but the rest I think has been the same stock for centuries! D=

  2. Aww man I was hoping for the polishes :( They're the only Fantasy Makers product I hunt down each year. Last year none of the usual stores had the polishes at all, no matter which displays they had. I found them by chance in a bucket in Spirit Halloween Store and may have squeal with glee enough to scare the employees.

Let's hope the normal WnW halloween polishes are as awesome this year as they were last year.

  3. The glitter liners are so great. To me, on the same level, if not better than MAC ones. The loose glitter is great for mixing your own polish. A little goes along way. Excited to see what polish they come out with this year.

  4. Oooo...I'll have to keep an eye out for the holo glitter. I've been dying to find a holo nail polish for cheap. I wonder how it would work just mixing it into a clear nail polish....

  5. I found these yesterday at ShopKo and there was mascara, but most were gone. There was a purple, green, and pink. I bought the purple and I am really disappointed. It seemed like it was almost dried up and didn't even show up on my lashes.

  6. @beautybabbling. It should work fine. I mixed some a black polish last and it came out awesome!

  7. I stopped in my local K-mart today (to grab the new Rimmel polishes) and they had a huge display of the Fantasy Makers, polishes, Tombstone polishes, funky paper cut-out eyelashes, mascara (pretty colors)and more. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone on my to snap a pic, I'll head back tomorrow to snap one. I did pick up one of the cut-out lashes and holo glitter.

  8. I bought the painter's palette in the pink/purple/black/white combo and it's called Femme Fatale- I'm thinking of taking it back since it says you can't use it on the eyes or lips. Why is that? I've used Halloween/costume make up before and its never said that. :(

  9. My goodness! I can't believe Halloween stuff is already out?! Kind of want the glitter liners!

  10. So that's a holo powder, like loose cosmetic glitter? I NEED THIS. LIKE NOW. Unfortunately, I am the one person who gets left out by the Halloween displays: they just don't exist. I stalk the aisles in Walgreens, CVS and will have to stalk Rite Aid now.

  11. Ahhhhh I can't believe it's that time of year already!!! Lol!! I look forward to the loose glitter every year-- I use it in Christmas presents (kinda like fairy dust, haha, it is really pretty and festive!), in crafts, on my nails, in body lotions, and even added to hair gel! I even tried adding it to a body splash in the past, too. As such, I am VERY excited about the gold loose glitter!!!! :D (G, in your 2009 pics, it looks like there was a PINK loose glitter??? Agh, I totally missed that!)

I have the black glitter liner from last year (it may have been the year before, but I think last year), and am happy to see it is back-- I miss the purple liner, however... maybe it will still pop up this year! I cannot wait to try the gold liquid liner, as of course I missed this in 2009 as well, lol! Wasn't there a silver liner as well?

Lastly, I adore the glitter gels. I think the different colors are more for looks than color (they smell slightly different, as well); I got a purple or a blue one once, and the gel comes out basically clear on the skin with minor differences in the glitter colors themselves. I still wanna try the orange gel though :D Once in a while I will buy one with a faulty pump, so I end up just pouring into my hands and applying on my arms/shoulders/etc... annoying, but not enough to merit a return trip to exchange for another one.

I look forward to seeing all the different displays in person!!!! :D Thank you so much for the exciting news, G!!!!!

  12. Ooops, I see the silver liquid liner in the pics above too! Awesome! Yay!!!!

  13. My display in my Rite Aid was on a shelf display, next to a display of Fright Night hair chalks. It's a brand spanking new display, all the products above on it. No price stickers though. I bought the silver glitter and HOLY COW the bottle is WAY overfilled. Buyer beware, it can be a glitter explosion when you open it!

  14. Does anyone know what formula the Wicked Look lipsticks are? They look similar to the Megalast packaging. I like to have minis of products for my touch-up bag.

  15. I found the polishes at Winn Dixie Grocery Store today...

  16. I love the holo powder, get it every year to use on nails. Great on its own and to mix with other shades to make holo polishes and top coats. So pretty and sparkly, and cheap! Glad to see it again, my bottle for last year is still half full but I'd hate to run out so will definitely stock up. May try the gold too, don't recall seeing that one before!

  17. Well buyer BEWARE... The pretty glitter eyeshadow six pack only has a very very thin coating of glitter on the top. Once you get past that with the eyeshadow brush, the remaining 95% of the shadow has ZERO glitter in it. Very misleading. Makes you believe youre getting an entire glittered eyeshadow, but the glitter is sprinkled on the top only.

  18. I live just outside of Houston and we don't have Rite Aid or Kmart here. Do you know what other stores carry these? I have bought some of the RIP nail polishes on Ebay but I hate having to pay more money if I could get them myself at the store. We have CVS and Walgreens pharmacies here. I'm disabled so I don't generally just go shopping on a whim unless I know a store has what I am looking for.
