Review: Softsoap Summer 2013 Limited Edition Body Washes

A few weeks ago I posted about the Summer 2013 Limited Edition Body Washes from Softsoap and I actually received both scents for review. Now that I've taken several showers with these body washes, I'm ready to give you my thoughts.

If you missed my original post about these, the Softsoap Limited Edition Summer 2013 Body Washes are available now at Walmart stores and will continue to be available through September.

Softsoap Summer 2013 Limited Edition Body Washes
(retail: $3.48 each, 18.0 oz)
Available at Walmart from May until September

Let's start with Maui Coconut Splash:

Softsoap has a few coconut-scented body washes in their core line, but this one's a bit different. It has the same coconut note, but there is also a hint of citrus in the background. It actually reminds a lot the Bath & Body Works fragrance, Coconut Lime Verbena, and I'd say that if you like that scent, you'll definitely like this one too (although the coconut is more pronounced with just a little citrus in the mix).

The formula is just like many other Softsoap body washes I own--you'll get lots of lather with just a little squirt onto your bath pouf, and the formula rinses clean without leaving my skin dry or itchy. I really love this one because it's both tropical and invigorating.

Next we have Pacific Sunset:

If you liked the old Bath & Body Works fragrance Pink Grapefruit (discontinued), you are going to LOVE Pacific Sunset. I get tons of pink grapefruit in this one but, in addition to that tartness, there's some sweetness and richness to this fragrance as well. I'm telling you, if you're a citrus lover, you need this one. It's one giant sugared citrus cocktail in a bottle.

Just like with Maui Coconut Splash, this body wash provides a nice, bubbly lather and I only have to use a small squirt. It rinses easily and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight.

FINAL VERDICT: If you love tropical, citrusy body washes, I would definitely recommend either one of these Limited Edition body washes from Softsoap. They both smell like summertime in a bottle and the price sure is right. The fragrance level for both body washes is in the medium-strong range. You'll definitely notice both in your shower and their scent lingers in my bathroom for a little while after my shower. But just like with most body washes I've used in my life, you can only smell these body washes on your skin for a few minutes once you're out of the shower, so they won't compete with your perfume, etc. I think that 18 oz for under $4 is a steal--especially Pacific Sunset since it smells so much like the discontinued Bath & Body Works fragrance, Pink Grapefruit.

Have you picked up either of these body washes at Walmart? Don't forget that they're only going to be around until September, so stock up now if you fall in love with them.

  1. I am so glad to read that both of these don't leave the skin dry and itchy (hate it when body washes do that!!) And for less than $4.00 I will definitely be trying this out; most likely the coconut one because I am obsessed with anything coconut related!

    1. If you love all things coconut, have you ever tried the coconut body wash from The Body Shop? It comes in a fairly large pump top bottle and has a creamy based consistency. It's a bit pricy at $15, but they have it at Ulta and if you use an Ulta coupon you can get the cost down some. Even better is if you can catch it when they run a bogo type sale...that's what I did a few months ago and I picked up the Satsuma(tangerine/clementine) Strawberry, and the Coconut. The grapefruit is pretty amazing too. Also, from the brand Shea Moisture is a line called Coconut Hibiscus which smells like coconuts with a tang of pineapple. That line has shampoo/conditioner, body wash, lotion, etc. I'm nutty for coconut too. :)
