Review: Revlon Diamond Collection Slanted Tweezers

Dearest Nouvettes, I'd like to have a moment of silence today to honor the loss of one of my favorite beauty friends and the best tool a girl or guy could ever ask for: I bid you adieu, my dear, sweet favorite pair of tweezers.

Dearest Anastasia Tweezers, we had a great run. You helped me out of many a tricky situation over the past three years, and I'm deeply sorry that you somehow got thrown out with the trash recently. We were the perfect team for all these years, and I depended on you like no other beauty tool in my arsenal. Your precision and ability to extract even the finest hair from my body will be deeply missed. I truly hope we meet again someday.

A fond farewell,
G.

So yeah, I lost my freaking tweezers, Nouvettes. Is there any greater beauty-related panic we can experience than losing our favorite pair of tweezers? I think not! But luckily, right after I came to terms with the fact that my favorite tweezers were gone forever, I remembered that I was sent the Revlon Diamond Collection Tweezers for review. Is there any greater joy than remembering that you have a back-up pair of tweezers when you can't find your #1 pair? I think not!

Revlon Diamond Collection Slanted Tweezers
(retail: $9.99 at CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Ulta, Drugstore.com and elsewhere)

These stainless steel tweezers are blinged out and downright adorable. I'm actually ashamed of myself for not reviewing these sooner, just for their looks alone.

My preferred tweezer has a slanted tip, so I immediately knew I was headed in the right direction when I saw that these are definitely slanted. Compared to my dearly departed Anasataisa Tweezers, the tip of the Revlon tweezers is not as wide from end to end, but it's still wide enough to be able to firmly grasp hairs.

I can't tell you how many times in my life I've been burned by drugstore tweezers. They may look like they'll get the job done, but some of them don't align properly and I've spent way too much time in my life repeatedly trying to grasp the same hair over and over again before finally giving up in frustration. In other words, I think I drugstore tweezers sometimes get a bad rap, which isn't entirely undeserving.

But I'm here to tell you that the Revlon Diamond Collection Tweezers definitely get the job done. I can grasp and remove even the very fine hairs in my eyebrow area and, for the most part, the process doesn't require more than one attempt. That's really the only thing I look for in my tweezers: will they grab a hair and pull it out on the first try? If so, I'm sold.

Granted, these tweezers don't have the exact same precision as my Anastasia Tweezers, which never required a second attempt. But for literally 1/3 the price, I'm seriously impressed. At the very most, I have to make a second or maybe third attempt at harder-to-grasp hairs, but I have certainly never thrown these tweezers on my bathroom counter in frustration. They get the job done and they grab and remove most of my hairs quickly and easily on the very first attempt.

Oh, and if you're curious about the little jewels, they don't hurt my fingers at all when I'm grasping these tweezers. I actually find them helpful because they really allow for a nice, firm grip. So they're not only cute, but they're functional as well.

FINAL VERDICT: If you're looking for a new set of work-horse tweezers or a second pair as a back up in case the unthinkable happens, I definitely suggest giving the Revlon Diamond Collection Tweezers a shot. For the price, I think you might be pleasantly surprised by these, and it's a bonus that the jewels are not only cute, but functional as well. If you can snag these on sale (example: Revlon cosmetics and beauty tools are 40% off at Rite Aid May 5th through the 11th), even better!

Have you ever lost your favorite tweezers? Did you have a back-up when that happened? Have you ever tried Revlon tweezers? I'd love to hear from you!

  1. Right there with you on cherishing my tweezers, lol.. I keep my baby Tweezerman's in their protective case hidden deep within my brow product holder.. out of sight of the rest of the family who would probably use them to do horrible things that no tweezer should ever do. I have also purchased Revlon tweezers in the past.. and have a few of them around for general use.. and they are really quite nice for the price. Better than any other "cheap" pair I've owned, and I've been impressed with any Revlon tool I've purchased now that I think about it. This one is just too cute, love the bling.

  2. I had a pair of tweezers I LOVED and my mom would take it sometimes >.> lol so one day when we were traveling she took them and lost them!!! I don't even know what brand they were since I got them from marshalls and they have different brands:/ I since then got an elf pair, they're okay :/

  3. Oh my...I thought I was the only one that gets nuts over tweezers. Ive been on the hunt for more than five years trying to find ( i cant even remember the brand anymore, because I sorta gave up looking for it). Good old TSA security at the airport took my loves away. After years of traveling with them one airport TSA security decided to keep them. URGHH so ive been using a two, a small revlon slanted tip and a shaper slanted tip. Soon I will search for a new pair. Maybe I'll look up some tweezer reviews tonight...lol.

  4. I love a good pair of tweezers! More essential than any other beauty tool I have for sure. You can go without filing your nails or a bobby pin but it's pretty impossible to hide a stray eyebrow hair...
I'm always on the lookout for a better pair since I lost my beloved dollar store tweezers! I would consider these but I just don't like the rhinestones, they're too tacky.

  5. I almost had a panic attack at the beginning! I thought you were gonna say something happened to a blogger! :p I'm thinking about investing in a pair of mini tweezerman but I'd have to hide it...my brother enjoys using my tweezers for ungodly things...such as tick removal *gags* needless to say they have a terrible fate afterwards :( he would have a terrible fate if he touched the tweezerman ;)

  6. I thought I lost my all-time favorite tweezers once. They were super cheap ones, and I think I just lucked out and picked up the one pair that aligned just right, since in my attempt to obtain a replacement I did buy a second pair of the same brand from the same store, and they just didn't work at all! (I use them for placing nail decals, at least they work for that, but they just would not grip hairs!)

I bought about three pairs and ended up throwing each one across the room in frustration, then going out and getting YET ANOTHER.... And then, finally, when I was starting to resign myself to the idea that I might have to break my drugstore rule for a decent pair, I found my original favorite! it had snuck through a tiny hole in the lining of my purse that was just big enough for tweezers to sneak through. After much happy dancing, I determined that never again would it leave my bathroom, unless absolutely necessary and then only if protected by a double-security rubber-band-and-zipper-pouch lockdown.

  7. I love that style of Revlon tweezers. I've used them religiously for years and always have two pairs on hand. My favorite thing is to pick them up when Revlon beauty tools run 40% off! Can't beat it!

  8. Hmm I have very similar rhinestone tweezers from Forever 21 that were around $1! now I am NO tweezer expert so I don't think I'm qualified to say whether or not they are good, but they have always gotten the job done for me! For a buck, it really can't be beat.

  9. I recently bought a pair of LA Cross tweezers from Big Lots for like $1.50, with slanted tweezers on one end and sharp pointy ones on the other. I've really been liking them a lot! I don't even know the brand of tweezers I had before, but they were terrible. Much throwing occurred. I have yet to throw my new ones :P

  10. I actually didn't own a pair of tweezers for ages because I get my eyebrows waxed and shaped every four weeks. Buuuut one day I picked up a pair of Tweezerman's mini slant tweezers and now I don't know how I lived without them! I love mine, and I bought another pair in blue just to have a backup but of course I've lost them. It wouldn't be TOO too crazy to buy a third pair, would it? Just in case I lose my first pair before I find the second (a fate all too likely in my house)?

  11. I am constantly losing my tweezers which is why I have numerous pairs floating around, so I have some when I need them. BTW ELF makes the best tweezers, they are sturdy, sharp, have a good grip and they super cheap. Yet no one ever talks about them when they talk about tweezers.
