As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I believe that 2013 is shaping up to be the year of at-home hair color. From the new reusable hair color from L'Oreal to Garnier Olia to Revlon ColorSilk Buttercream, the hits just keep coming, and I don't see it slowing down any time soon!

L'Oreal has another new at-home hair color innovation for 2013, and this one's for you ombre-lovers out there:

  1. Since ombre is kinda getting big right now, I think it's pretty good how they're catering to the demands

  2. This is what I have been waiting for for what seems like EVER! So excited. That's for the information!

  3. I saw this when I was looking into how to do it myself but I only saw it available over seas. I would love to try it if it meant not having to do so many steps trying to recreate the look myself.

  4. Since I have ntoiced the magazines are not big on Ombre for 2013..I may use it to play around with..but maybe not even that. Just a fad but cool that they came out with their own dye. Its big on youtube, but not any mags

  5. Huh. Personally, I think it looks like a way to overprice and repackage at-home bleach kits. I also think this is going to be a quickly discontinued- everyone I know who's had an ombre dye job has been because a previous dye job grew out.

  6. I would love to. Really I would. But that requires the top of my hair to be all one color. And its not. I've got roots and natural highlights and sun highlights and color from when I dyed it. Its a hot mess right now

  7. I found this at Walmart last week, and used it and ruined my hair! I should have had a professional do it. I started applying the bleach to the bottom of my hair, and by the time I got to the top layer of hair, the under layer was bleached blonde (keep in mind, I'm dark, dark brown naturally). Needless to say, I need to just dye it back to what it was....such a same, I was really excited for this!

  8. This was released overseas (primarily in Europe) a REALLY long time ago, not necessarily a new item, but just newly promoted in the US. I've heard pretty good things about this though!

  9. The promo photos look dated and not appealing, they should have done beachy/rocker- who perfectly blows out 2 tone hair?

    1. I completely agree!
I was staring at the photos and could t tell why they turned me off! That's totally it though, whoever thought styling the hair like that was a good idea, really made the product look unappealable.

  11. As a professional hair stylist, these box colors always scare me. We never know what they put in the formulas and it seems so hard to break thru them when doing a corrective color. Ombré requires a lot of steps and technique. If you want to do this at home to save money, be aware you may end up paying more for a corrective color than just going into a salon paying for the ombré color service

    1. Thanks, Melinda for a professional's opinion. My co-worker had ombre done in a salon & she explained that it was an extremely involved process that took almost 3 hrs! When I mentioned to her I saw an ad for the Feria Ombre at-home-kit, we both thought "Oh, no - bad idea!" We're convinced that many hair stylists around the country are going to be super busy doing corrective colorings! There are just some things you should leave to the professionals & bleaching the ENDS of hair to achieve a smooth gradient ombre is definitely one of them! Hopefully your words of wisdom saved some ladies from a hair disaster, :-)

    2. Lol you're welcome. Some people get lucky when they color their own hair but must do not. I don't color my hair myself either. (Primarily because I just don't enjoy getting it done anyway! I have better things to do with my time.....like make money coloring other people's hair!)

  13. Well! I did it! I'm actually really pleased with the results. I bought the medium to dark brown kit and it was so easy. After about 30 min my hair lightened up to really pretty warm caramel color which is where I wanted to start out. I will probably go back in when the weather gets warmer and add some more highlights but for now, it's exactly what I wanted. The beauty of a kit like this is it takes all the guess work out. You just mix, apply and leave it on until your hair is as light as you wanted it. Awesome buy IMO.

    1. Dawn! Congrats!! Thank you SO much for coming back here to share your experience. I'm SO glad to hear that you're happy with the results. Question: was it easy to keep the starting point straight (all the way around your head)? Thank you! :)

    2. YOUR WELCOME! And thank YOU for posting this because I never would have thought to look for it in the store yesterday if I hadn't seen your post. To answer your question, for me, it wasn't hard at all because I have very long layered hair. I basically clipped up the top layers leaving just the longer layers down. I then sectioned those layers in half and brought those two sections around in front of my shoulders and began brushing the bleach in. Once those long sections were done being coated, I unclipped the top sections and just kind of lighly brushed in more sparse highlighty pieces throughout. That was it! Easy peasy. To establish more depth in the gradiant, after I washed out the bleach, I dried my roots down to the midshaft and touched up my darker color focusing on the roots with my fav at home box color. All in all I am super happy. Like I said, I will add more highlights as the weather gets warmer but I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is nervous about bleaching their own hair.

  14. I used it on my dyed medium red hair and it just made the ends look bright red.

  15. Iv been a beautician for 20 years and you need to be careful because this is straight bleach in a bottle! Using this product will cause you to have a line of decarmation. Beauticians know what this is, and it's something we avoid when highlighting hair! Line of decarmation shows a line between where natural color is and where you colored it! Just remember this is powder bleach and peroxide in the box that you mix! Same thing you would buy at walmart or a beauty supply house and they put in fancy box w a brush so you pay the $ 12 price! Don't be fooled by packaging! The brush is the only unique thing in box. This ombré processes just like a bleach kit! Hope this helps!
