If you missed my post last week about these LE Pop Sticks, let me catch you up to speed:
Last week I did a post about how the Maybelline Limited Edition Pop Sticks from Summer 2011 were back again this year, and popping up at various retailers. I haven't spotted the new display in person, but I've heard so much conflicting information at this point, I don't know to believe! Some say the new collection is the same as the original, but then again some say they're still spotting the original 2011 display in stores, so I can't be sure if the people who are saying that they're just like the originals have actually spotted the new ones, or the originals? Some people don't believe new versions exist at all, but I have heard from some readers who own the originals and say that the display now popping up in stores is definitely different than the original display. I've also heard that the new versions are more pigmented and more opaque than the originals, but I've also heard that people are getting the Maybelline Vivids confused with the Pop Sticks, which would explain why they think the new versions are opaque and more pigmented. What a mystery these are, right?
To add to the mystery, reader Cathy was nice enough to share with us some pics of the Maybelline Pop Sticks she just purchased in Europe (since I haven't seen the new US versions, I obviously can't confirm if these are the same as the US Pop Sticks). Take a peek:

The really fun thing is the 010 Pink Sugar has silver glitter in it (I love it!), but it does not translate on the lips or migrate on to my face after the gloss is gone.
Just FYI, the shade names from the original US release from 2011 are: Pink Lollipop, Rasberry Ice, Citrus Slice, Fruit Punch.

If anything, we now have official confirmation that there are, indeed, NEW Pop Sticks out there.
I don't recall that any of the original US Pop Sticks from 2011 contained glitter. How fun, right? This just fuels me to find the new US versions that much more. I just can't rest until I spot them for myself!

ReplyDeleteIf you scroll down to the "Popsicle Lips" section in this Ulta link http://www.ulta.com/whatshot/ you'll see the top parts of what looks a lot like those Pop Sticks, which i instantly thought of-- however there is no brand label for it. As if we needed more confusion. xP
ReplyDeleteI bought the originals and hated them so much! They didn't show up at all >.< I got the brightest ones and at best they were as good as clear lip balked, without the added benefits =( now I wish I wld have at least found something w glitter, at least that wld show. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteI actually have the original one of fruit punch, although they are cool to look at it because they are so different and clear...I didn't care for the texture...one other thing they wear off so quickly. I have seen these at one of CVS's prior to Christmas. Not all of them..but some. The packaging looks the same to the one I own.
ReplyDeleteThese were not well liked but I LOVED them! They are HG for me for sure. I rarely will pay full price for drugstore makeup but I did for all the colors that were released when these came out. Then, when Rite Aid put them on clearance, I drove all over town to collect duplicates of them! I love them because I am fair and I do not have much pigment on my lips. I am not a fan of the ph adjusting lipsticks because they usually turn bright fuschia on me. I hate that look. These do adjust in color but it is subtle and it has a balm texture. I actually apply them a lot (like I would balm) and I sometimes will apply a clear balm over them as well. They are perfect for those times (camping, working out, etc.) where I don't want to look washed out and I would like a bit of color to my lips. They look fresh and natural to me and I love that they are glossy. Plus, they were cheap compared to the the Fresh tinted balms. I always laughed at the picture of the model on the display wearing one of these "lipsticks." I honestly could never see how what she was wearing was the same thing that I bought and liked so much! This is not really a lipstick...or even a balm. It's a fun hybrid.
