The Wednesday Question

What is the most you will pay for a drugstore foundation?

I will not pay more than $10 for a drugstore foundation. If the price is above $10, I will wait for a sale and/or coupons before making a purchase.

  1. I don't believe I've paid over $10, but it's been a long time since I wore a drugstore foundation. They just don't make them light enough for my very fair skin. I'd be more than happy to pay over $10 if I could actually find one in my skin tone!

  2. Depends. If it is brand new and I want to try it I will pay full price, if I do not love it I take it back. If I'm out and desperate I will pay full price. Most of the time I wait for a sale and grab a backup, but only one because as much as I love whatever it is there is almost always something better that comes along to replace it, and then I'm stuck with backups I will never use, plus with foundation type products I usually change shades at some time during the year. The most I have ever paid is close to $15 though, anything above that I don't know, I would have to think about it... to me it doesn't really matter if it's "drugstore" or "highend", what matters is how it performs, yet at the same time I will gladly pay less for a similar product, thus the reason most of my cosmetics are drugstore. My experience is that there simply are not that many highend products that are not dupable in drugstore brands. My current favorite (most reached for) foundation products range from $3 to $13.

  3. I'll buy them when they've got a bright orange tag on the shelf or display that says "Clearance". I always keep my coupons with me--the best buy I've ever gotten is discontinued Maybelline Wonder Finish at 97 cents!

  5. I just bought the new Revlon naked foundation for around $7, and unfortunately the lightest shade is a touch dark. It seems to me that drugstore foundations work best for mid-toned skin.

  6. I refuse to go over $10 on a drugstore foundation. If it retails for over $10 I wait for a good drugstore deal and combine with coupons. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I spent $10.

  7. I think it depends on the reviews, if I am confident on the reviews from blogs and youtube videos I'll spend what is needed. I will always make sure I can return if the color or formula doesn't work for me, so there really is no harm in trying it. I feel the same way about high end foundation as well, but I am unlikely to just randomly pick up an expensive drugstore foundation.

  8. I think the most I've ever paid is around $13-$14. I really try to use coupons and buy it on sale as much as possible.

  9. Well for me it would have to be less than $15 and on BOGO, :p

  10. I refuse to go over $10. Anything over $10 doesn't can't be justified ounce per ounce when it's compared to my current favorite MAC Face and Body which is <$10 per oz (if you get the big bottle).

  12. I just paid $13 at Walgreens for the Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 just to end up disappointed. But I think the drugstore prices for makeup is getting way outta hand. I definitely could have gotten the foundation at walmart for less than the walgreens price. I really can't see myself paying more. I had the extra money. Otherwise, over $10 totally turns me off to purchasing a product.

  13. Whaaaa? Oh how I wish I lived in your world, G. Revlon foundations here in Australia soar up to almost $40, I'd rather just pay a couple of dollars more and buy a nice mid-high end foundation.

  14. This is why Australia is mean... A drugstore brand foundation here costs $20+... :(

  15. You people in America are lucky. $10 is considered cheap. Did you know a Revlon or loreal foundation can cost up to $34-$40 in Australia. And even the cheaper drugstore lines like Covergirl, Rimmel or Maybelline are $20+.
