I have combination/oily skin that is acne prone. I just started using Peter Thomas Roth's blemish kit. It seems to be working but is VERY drying. I can only use the serum every other day and follow up with Cetaphil as it doesn't come with a moisturizer. I also use my clarisonic with the acne brush head which is amazing! I recommend the clarisonic but if I had it to do again I would just get the Mia. I have the one for face and body and hardly use it for anything other than my face.
Mine is combo/oily. Not as oily as it used to be, and I get dry flaky patches sometimes. And it's really sensitive. Seems like it's been more sensitive lately so I've been testing new products to try to find something I like. I just got the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily cleanser and I love it! I had put it on my wishlist to buy after reading your review, so thanks! Also loving the Boots Natural line Rose toner (don't remember exact name). For moisturizer I've been liking Desert Essence Daily Essential moisturizer. I also have been using a rose and glycerin spray that I use when my skin is drier or feeling sensitive. It really helps calm my skin when it's burning. Sensitive skin sucks! I use a scrub at least once or twice a week too.
Skin Type: Dry/SensitiveAge: 24 (thought I'd add this if it's helpful for anyone curious)Current Routine: Morning- Simple Face Wash Gel, Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15, The Body Shop Aloe Vera Eye Defense. Night- CVS Brand Eye Makeup Remover (Generic of the Neutrogena blue bottle), The Body Shop Nutriganics Foaming Facial Wash, CVS Brand Witch Hazel, CVS Brand 10% Benzoyl Peroxide (if necessary for blemishes), The Body Shop Aloe Vera Soothing Night Cream, The Body Shop Aloe Vera Eye Defense. How it's working: So far, so good! Winter is kinder to my skin than the summer, so I'm doing okay as far as break outs are concerned. I love that my routine is affordable, and for the most part, pretty good as far as ingredients are concerned.
Lol, good question. Do you have like an hour? JK =PSkin type: Combo/Oily (but mostly oily)Skincare routine: (Seriously do you have an hour?)-Wash face twice daily w/ Kiehl's Foaming Non-detergent Cleanser -Tone with Pevonia Combo Skin lotion (it's a toner)-Moisturize with either Juice Beauty Green Apple moisturizer or Eclos Regenerative Skin cream-Exfoliate 2-3 times a week with Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser-Facials every three weeksThis routine is working out perfectly for me. For the most part, I've ditched products that are too harsh on the skin and have started to use products that are mostly, if not all, natural or organic. My skin is loving it :)
I have combination skin that leans more toward oily. I'm pregnant, and decided to minimize the chemicals I put on my skin once I found out. So I started using Dr. Bronner's bar soap to wash my face, hair, body. It works so incredibly well! I was really surprised. My skin (face, back, and chest) is clearer than it ever has been, I don't have to wash my hair very often, and I feel great about the ingredients I'm using on my skin. Also, this stuff dissolves even the most waterproof, budge-proof makeup, no problem. I feel like I need to be on a Dr. Bronner's infomercial, I love it so much!
Oh, I should add that I moisturize with jojoba oil. Just a couple drops is enough for my face. It works really well!
Skin Type: Combo / OilyAge: 26Current Routine: Dr Bronner's Tea Tea oil liquid castille soap with my clarisonic (gets all the makeup out! super suprising!)Loreal Youth Code (night cream for night, day cream w spf 30 for day)Loreal Youth Code eye creamif i have a breakout, I use Cliniques Acne system - wash, toner, spot treatment, DDMG (like i do right now bc Revlon Nearly Naked broke me out)How it's working: Wonderful!
I have sensitive/combination skin. I use Clearasil's Skin Perfecting Wash (the Sensitive one) and then I use Simple's light moisturizer. The Skin Perfecting wash is so creamy, it's wonderful. I do use Soap and Glory's Scrub Your Nose In It once every week though! Before I was using the simple Oil Balancing gel wash and the matching moisturizer which didn't really work for me, they dried my skin out too much, causing my skin to panic and it went into oil overload even with the Oil Balancing Moisturizer! but I picked up the Clearasil face wash in the supermarket one day because I wanted to try something new and when I first tried it I thought it was too moisturizing. But over the days my cheeks started getting drier so I got the Simple Light Moisturizer, now my skin is normal and happy (I do get the tiniest bit of oil around my nose but hey ho, I can't complain). I love my new routine!
I am mostly dry/very slightly combo.I use:- REN Purity Cleansing Balm. This stuff is AMAZING. No lie. Super expensive, but it's a big jar and my skin is doing so well.- Clinique Moisture Surge intense. Again, great stuff. I am also trying a shea butter moisturizer from an Etsy seller, which is doing great things for my cuticles but nothing wonderful for my face.-ELTA MD Clear sunscreen. Only one that doesn't break me out.-SilkNaturals SuperSerum (vitamin C and not much else, but really nice stuff and cheap!)It's working okay-- but as a shopaholic I am always trying something else!
I have normal-ish to sensitive-ish skin. It used to be oilier but after age 30 that became less of an issue. I don't do a whole lot to it. Sun protection. Moisturizer. Eye cream. Wash it all off at night and start anew the next day. I just try to avoid anything too fragranced because that always seems to make me itch and break out, so I do like Eucerin's redness relief products, along with most Aveeno stuff. And if I do break out I like Mario Badescu or Body Shop's Tea Tree blemish fade lotion. I'm kind of ADD on products so I don't really stick to one thing forever, except going back to the Body Shop stuff, and I just started to use Weleda's Weather Protection Cream to combat winter dryness and like it. Even though it's mainly oil with some herbal stuff, but in winter, the richer the better. Otherwise I'd look like oatmeal out of the cardboard cylinder.
Skin type: Normal/Dry AgingRoutine: Purpose cleanser 2 times a day. Once or twice a week I use it with Clarsonic. At night I use Alpha Hydrox AHA Souffle (12%) In the morning I use Tarte Marajuca Oil followed by Loreal Revita Lift Triple Power. For eye cream I use Benefit Its Potent Eye Cream.Seems to be working for me, every one cannot believe my age..if I tell. But I am supper critical of myself and wish it would result in the complexion of a 20 year old! LOL
Dry/Combo, prone to acneAM: Cleanser, Toner, MoisturizerPM: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Moisturizer, Mud Mask *1-3 times per week
Dry/normalAge: 20AM: Boots Expert sensitive face serum, Boots expert sensitive eye cream, clinique dramatically different moisturizing gel, SPF 30 sunscreenPM: take off make up with extra virgin olive oil, wash face with olay regenerist clarisonic knock off and clean and clear cleanser for sensitive skin, neutrogena oil free acne stress control toner, neutrogena intensive wrinkle repair cream (has retinol)
Skin type: Oily/agingI cleanse twice day with Ponds Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser and the new Olay Fresh Effects Powered Contoured Cleansing System gadget. Since my skin is a bit drier in the winter (I'm in the Northeast), in the morning I follow up with Simple Soothing Facial Toner, followed by Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer. In the evening I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Hydrating Acne Treatment and Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer. Once in a while I'll use a scrub or a mask.
Combo/oily, large pores, prone to blackheads and acne, semi-mature (I'm 38).Am: Garnier moisture rescue gel creme moisturizer (green).Pm: massage in cold pressed evoo, clean face with baby wipes, garnier moisture rescue gel creme dry (pink), blistex medicated lip ointment (I wear long wear lip products and it keeps my lips baby soft).2-3x a week: Wash face with my regular body wash in shower, exfoliate with warm wet terrycloth, apply liberal evoo, allow to soak in, remove any excess with dry tissue. That's it folks. My skin has never looked or felt better. I fought my skin most of my life, tried just about every regimen there is high and low end, and nothing worked.. or it made it worse. It was extremely oily yet flaky and dry at the same time, had a terrible time with blackheads and acne, hyperpigmentation (I had melasma with all three pregnancies), blotchy redness... it was a mess. Two years ago I simply tossed every skin product I had and started over. In my research I found that a lot of the people I saw with the most beautiful skin were stressing the benefits of oil, and the more I researched the more benefits I found. I started with just evoo, nothing else, and within just a few days there was a massive change, after a month or two I had new skin. The blackheads were gone and my skin cleared, the flakes disappeared and it became LESS oily. My skin is so soft and smooth now. My fine lines have improved, and my skin tone is much more even, almost all the redness is gone except for a tiny bit around my nose. My "marionette lines" are also much better and my skin is much firmer. My pores are much smaller, much of my acne scars are gone or massively improved, and while I still get one or two breakouts during that time of the month they are very small and gone within a day or two. I have not had a cystic blemish in a year, and I had very few the year before when previously it was one or two a month. I have also seen an improvement in my lashes and brows. The only reason I use the Garnier products is because I like them, lol, they feel wonderful on the skin and the regular sits just a bit better under my makeup.. and they are a bit more convenient. It's the oil that is key.I still have oily skin, but before I could literally wipe a sheet off my forehead within an hour and my bangs would be soaked by the end of the day (so nasty), now it's much better- even if I do nothing my bangs stay dry and my skin has a sheen but no more puddles of oil. When I wear makeup I use Milk of Magnesia after moisturizer, just on the most oily parts of my face and I can go all day without even blotting.
Semi-mature at 38?!!! I must be geriatric at 50. :/
Do you use any particular brand of EVOO?
My skin type is combination-oily that's acne prone with a fragrance sensitivity. Number one rule for my skincare is Fragrance-Free. As I've gotten older though (33yrs old) I've noticed that I will sometimes be prone to dry patches in certain areas.Morning Routine:1. gentle cleanser (no HG, just fragrance-free and cheap)2. BHA (Paula's Choice 2%)3. Benzoyl Perxoide lotion (Paula's Choice 5%)4. Peter Thomas Roth Ultra Lite (for winter) Uber-Dry (for summer)Night Routine:1. exfoliating scrub/cleanser (currently using St. Ives Green Tea Scrub daily with an exfoliating facial towel about 3 times a week in the shower)2. Toner (Paula's Choice - not a necessary step for me, but it feels refreshing)3. AHA (Paula's Choice)4. retinol serum (Paula's Choice)Treatments I've used on an as needed basis are:- Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque for spot treatment of my acne- Paula's Choice Resist BHA 9 for spot treatment (although I'm on the fence about this product and for now, I don't think I'd repurchase if used up)- Generic Benzoyl Peroxide Cream 10% (whichever is on sale) as a spot treatment- Olay Wet Cleansing Towelettes for Sensitive Skin which I keep in my bag for just in case. They don't really take off makeup, but they don't leave anything weird on the skin after I used them.As you can tell, I'm a fan of Paula's Choice though I only ever buy it when it's on sale and will get free shipping. The big winners in my skincare routine are the chemical and physical exfoliants. Overall, I'm happy with my skincare routine. But like most of us here, I love hearing and researching new products. Keep it up. :)
I swear I'm Normal/ComboI never see that duo written anywhere, but I have dry and oily skin. Eczema some places... Oil slick others. However, with the right regimen I tend to have a perfectly normal balance of things. Nice clean soft skin. I do have some acne, and a shit ton of scars from OCD picking the last couple years. I've just recently begun conquering that. So today, I can say I am happy with my routine. I would like a better exfoliating scrub, Pore strips, and Peel. I would also like to find a sunscreen that works for me!Pm: Face-Cleanse with Almond OilUse Burt's Bees Natural Acne Solutions Toner/Lemon JuiceUse a couple drops of Bio Oil (testing this out)Focusing on eye area-Use a pea size amount California Baby Aloe Vera Cream (Love this)Lips-Alba Pineapple Quench Chapstick (love this)2x weekly- St. Ives Apricot Scrub (gonna try out the Green Tea scrub based on ur review)Say Yes To Tomatoes Mud MaskFreeman Facial Peel Off MaskBiore Cleansing Pore StripsAM:Face-Say Yes To Blueberries wipesAveeno Positively Radiant MoisturizerBoots No 7 Protect & Perfect Serum (testing this out)On my body I'm using Dove SoapSt. Ives Oatmeal Shea Butter Wash (cream)Eucerin Pro RepairAvon So Luminous Radiance
Combo skin with occasional breakoutsCleanser: Shiseido Honey cake soap and Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser.Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence3 Lab M Cream or Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Gold capsules3 Lab Perfect BB Cream or Clarins UV Plus sunblockThis is actually the best my skin has responded to any combination of skincare. I just have to remember to use the tiniest amount of M Cream or I will begin to breakout. But my skin looks great.A change in diet also helps out a bunch too.
I have combination skin but summer time turns my face into an oil slick. A.M- wash face with neutrogena refreshing exfoliating scrub.Baby lotion applied to face a few minutes before applying makeup, and I apply in upward motions to avoid wrinklesP.M- use neutrogena moisturizing eye makeup remover lotion to remove eye makeup and lipstick. Baby wipes to wipe off makeup from face.Use olay exfoliating brush with my neutrogena refreshing exfoliating scrub. Then neutrogena oil free extra strength toner (pink).Garnier moisture rescue moisturizer (green). And e.l.f lip exfoliater applied to lips so my lipstick applies evenly the next day (I wear lippies everyday).Once a week usually on sundays: Biore pore strip on my nose and sometimes around my lips because I get blackheads around my lip area (so embarrased).Montagne Jeunesse (don't think I spelled that right) Dead Sea Mask.I'm usually happy with this routine but my face seems to be extremely dry lately so I'm going to change my toner to the gentler version and buy the garnier moisture rescue for dry skin because my makeup is going on powdery and dry now
Age: 23Skin: Combination/Oily, dehydrated as of late (read: winter)I was previously alternating with the Mary Kay TimeWise Cleanser but am now just using the Yes to Carrots Nourishing daily cream facial cleanser (kind of drying.) That or the Aveeno clear complexion bar in the shower. Either way, I follow it up with the Caudalie beauty elixir and then try to add in some moisture by mixing Korres yoghurt soothing gel, Clean and Clear morning burst shine control moisturizer, and the Neutrogena ultrasheer sunblock with SPF55. At night I use the yes to carrots cleaner, but also go in with an Ahava toning cleanser. If my skin is up to it I put on Alpha-H liquid gold, but 8 times out of 10 I apply a generous amount of moisturizer. I have tried to move away from scrubs because my skin has gotten really sensitive and a lot of the ones I used to love are too abrasive for me. Winter has been pretty harsh on my skin but this routine is working okay.
Combo/Oily skin, somewhat sensitive to fragrance but less so than it used to be, and my routine changes a lot:If I wash my face in the shower, I use either Kate Somerville Daily Detox Cleanser or Vivite Exfoliating Facial Cleanser, usually the Vivite. Follow with KS oil free daily moisturizer. At night I use either the Daily Detox Cleanser or SkinCeuticals LHA cleanser. If I use the KS cleanser I follow with ExfoliKate - I only do this a couple times a week as it's intense. Again follow with KS oil free moisturizer. I just picked up a bottle of Boots Botanics Complexion Refining Toner, which I hope to start using in the mornings and evenings when I don't use the ExfoliKate, because with my current routine my skin still gets a bit oily in places. Mostly I'm trying to use up cleansers at the moment before I buy more, and I haven't decided if I want to rebuy the Kate Somerville - I like it but I think I may need something a little more intense. But I have a lot of the SkinCeuticals, and I like that one, so I may stick with it for now.
Skin- combo/oily with rosacea and bumps Am- Dudu osun African black soap and Nubian heritage honey and black seed moisturizerPm- Dudu osun soap, witch hazel toner and Burt's bees intense hydration night creamOnce or twice a week exfoliate with baking sodaMy skin is far less bumpy and has more of a glow since I started using more natural products. Now I just need to find something to reduce the redness!
Skin Type: I have combination, acne-prone skin. My eyelids are oily in the summer and dry in winter.Routine: I use the Walgreens invigorating scrub with salicylic acid after I wake up, followed by the e.l.f. mineral cleanser. If I have makeup to remove before bed, I just use the mineral cleanser. How it's working: Good, but it could be better. The scrub particles are a little too large for me and there aren't quite enough of them, though the scrub itself is nice and thick. It's also a little drying. It does a good job of controlling acne but it doesn't exfoliate as much as I'd like. I'm going to try a different scrub once it runs out.The mineral cleanser also gently exfoliates, but my skin needs and tolerates much harsher scrubs. It contains corn starch, which I'm not thrilled about, and it has a faint, unpleasant odor that makes my head hurt for a split second, but only if I really get in there and sniff. The cleanser is moisturizing and it does brighten my face a bit, but it isn't enough to counteract the scrub, especially in winter. It does clean my face well, including taking off my mineral foundation, but it doesn't do as good a job on eye makeup. I'm not sure yet whether or not I'll repurchase it.I need to find a body scrub, a face moisturizer, makeup remover, and eye cream.
Hi G! I am a longtime reader, just don't comment much. I am an esthetician & am obsessed with skincare. My HG hands down favorite brand as a whole is Dermalogica. I have never had more perfect skin.I have Normal/ dehydrated skin, that is very sensitive and reactive. I used to get the occasional hormonal cystic pustule, but they are very rare now.I am 23 and live in a very humid part of the U.S.My routine as of right now (always changing as I try new products that my clients ask about):A.M. - Wipe face with Yes To Blueberries facial cleansing cloths. The Yes To Cucumbers one burns my skin. I love these facial wipes. I would be lost without them!Apply Dermalogica Total Eye Care SPF. Love this eye cream, it contains mica and adds subtle reflectivness under my eyes (I have intense dark circles) that helps boost my makeup application. Then I apply Dermalogica Active Moist moisturizer mixed with the MAP - 15 Regenerator (MAP form of Vitamin C)Next is Sunscreen, I am loving La Roche Posay Anthelios (the exact name eludes me at the moment) I know it is SPF 60. I apply it all over my face and neck, and back of hands. If any other area of my body will be exposed to the sun, I will apply the sunscreen there as well.Sometimes I will spritz Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist before leaving in the morning, after make up application. (this completely gets rid of any cakeyness or what-have-you from foundation & powder.P.M. -Dry cleanse with Precleanse by Dermalogica. An emulsfying oil based cleanser. It is such a relief to finally find products that really work for my skin. I love your skincare posts G and I know you share a love of Badger! Thanks for the awesome question :)
I have combination oily/dry skin. Morning:Wash with CeraVe foaming cleanser. Alba Botanica Very Emollient Fragrance Free mineral sunscreenIn the winter sometimes I apply a little of the CeraVe pm moisturizer before sunscreenNight:Wash with CeraVe foaming cleanserApply Paula's Choice 2% BHA LotionI mix the CeraVe foaming cleanser with distilled water and put it in a foaming pump bottle. Otherwise, I always end up using way too much. I used to use the Neutrogena 3 in 1 Acne Stress Control Gel. It's the only thing I've found that will keep my skin clear. But they've discontinued it. (I'm so upset about that, I doubt I will ever buy another Neutrogena product again. Not hard, since it was the only one I used) The Paula's Choice is making me break out with huge cystic acne on my chin and jaw, so I won't be rebuying it. All of the other salicylic acid gels I've seen have ingredients that cause me to break out :( I can't use benzyl peroxide. *sigh*
