The Wednesday Question (discontinued products edition)

Continuing with my year-end questions, here's one about discontinued products:

What drugstore beauty product did you find yourself missing the most this year?

The product you name doesn't have to have been discontinued in 2012; I just want to know what discontinued product you missed the most in 2012. For me, it would be Revlon ColorStay Finishing Powder in Brighten. If you forgot about those, they were discontinued in 2011 and they looked like MAC MSFs. Brighten was the pastel pink one with rose and white veining. I bought three of them during the CVS beauty clearance sale in May 2011 and even though I still have two left, I'm so sad that it's gone for good--I already miss it!

  1. Mine definitely has to be Clean & Clear's Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser. I have found six bottles at different Big Lots and am on my last two bottles. This foaming face wash can remove every ounce of makeup, including waterproof mascara, without irritating or stinging my skin.

They are currently selling on Amazon for triple the amount your would spend in a drugstore!

  2. Revlon ColorStay Active Light Makeup. I liked how it was sheerer than the regular ColorStay (the regular just feels too heavy on my skin), stayed put on hot, humid days and had SPF 25.

  3. Revlon ColorStay liquid liner in Bronzed Brown. Not sure when it was discontinued, but I loved that shade.

  4. I still have one.. but wnw penny was a favorite, also the 6pan Vanity palette. There was a Revlon mineral bronzer I adore, it's just the perfect color for my skin (I think it's sunkissed or sunlight), and the highlighter that went with it was fantastic too.

    1. The only reason I didn't choose the Vanity palette is because I still have one. I will be VERY sad when it's gone. Didn't fall in love with it until it was being phased out and couldn't find a backup. I'm touching pan now. Sigh. Still have a backup of Lust, though.

  5. I just started using the PF Healthy Wear Foundation powder spf 50 per your recommendation. I bought it over summer at big lots but just didn't touch it. I used it last week on a roadtrip that included tons of pics and they came out great! I looked flawless. I went out to big lots yesterday and after alot of digging found another and immediately squealed and bought it as back up. Thx for the fantastic recommendation!

  6. I still miss the Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks. They felt creamy smooth and moisturizing and smelled like watermelon.

  7. Man.. So much. What I'm thinking of right now is the original Revlon Colorstay lipsticks since I put up my review of the suedes Monday for my 5 Days of Revlon Lip Products. What a waste. I'm also scared they'll pull some of my favorite lip butters since some people found them on clearance. Still jealous btw.

  9. This probably doesn't count as it was limited edition, but the Wet 'n' Wild The Gilded Age (the eyeshadow trio). I saw it once in my Duane Reade and didn't pick it up for god knows what reason. Then when I went back for it, it was already gone!!! I never saw it anywhere else in my area, and I'm STILL kicking myself for not buying it the moment I saw it :( I do own I'm Getting Sunburned from the permanent line, but the lid color is too orange on my red-toned skin and I'm never in my life going to use that frosty pink on myself. Agh.

  10. for me it isn't actually discontinued but the smashbox browtech brown powder/wax duo. they reformulated them and now "blonde" is a taupey-ash blonde color ... no bueno for a real blonde. i only found out that this happened after as i went to buy a replacement and was very disappointed.

  11. The only one that came to mind was Rimmel Lash Flirt mascara...but even still, the drugstore is never short on new products, collections, etc. that I don't worry about finding something that will take its place :)

  12. Hi G! I also really liked that Revlon highlighter you are talking about. When I was doing black Friday shopping at ELF.com I saw something that might be very similar it is a new baked blush item, and color is "Pinktastic".I wanted to order it but was sold out at the time,I'll include the link.http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/face/blush/baked_blush

  14. This was quite a while ago, but Maybelline used to make brow pencils that came in a 2-pack. There was one shade called Charcoal Gray (actually an ashy dark brown) that was absolute perfection for my brows. It is just really difficult for me to find brow pencils that aren't too warm/reddish against my pale skin. After much trial and error, I now use Laura Mercier Brunette - but I could have bought 9 or 10 Maybellines for the price!

  15. Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lipgloss in Cocoalicious! I have a brand new sealed on in my stash that I paid a premium for on ebay, but this was the perfect brown gloss! Even my husband loved that it smelled of Tootsie Rolls. I had run out, wanted some more and literally missed the final clearance at the store by weeks. (sigh)

  16. Wilaverde nail polish remover. It is the only non-stinky nail polish remover I have ever used that worked (no acetone or acetates). three dabs on a cotton pad was enough to do both hands, didn't dry out your skin, etc. I bought one 8 oz bottle for 3.99 at meijer that lasted two years. When I got low and went to repurchase, no where to be found. :( I miss it every time I take off polish.

  17. Oh my god! I loved that Revlon finishing powder too! I bought one when they were on clearance and fell in love and I'm nearly out of it (I have to shove my brush in the grooves in the pan). So bummed it's gone forever, it makes my skin glow and I loved to use it to highlight my collarbones as well. Is there ANYTHING comparable that you've found in the drugstore?

  19. I'm missing (or at least I will when I run out) Sally Hansen's Natural Beauty by Carmindy Fast Fix concealers. Can anyone suggest substitutes that are similar in texture/consistency etc.?

  21. The discontinued item that I miss is Maybelline's Hi Shine Lip Polish in Clearly Pink. It was somewhat sticky, but I LOVED it. I found it at Walmart a few years ago. I only bought 2 tubes at the time. When I was on my last tube I went back and searched high and low for it but it was nowhere to be found. I searched all of the drugstores but it was gone, gone, gone. I was highly devastated. LOL I took a chance on eBay and found it. I bought 5 tubes at a really reasonable price. I'm halfway through my 2nd tube, so I have 3 left. I just checked eBay again and there are a few still available...the Maybelline Clearly Pink lip polish hoarder in me is tempted to order some extra, extra back ups. LOL

  22. Revlon concealer in the red tube was amazing! I've never found anything quite like it. I also loved the wet n' wild 6 pan palettes which seemed very popular so I don't know why they were discontinued. The matte shadows were great and I feel like the new palettes are mostly shimmery.

  23. The product I miss the most, every year, is L'oreal HIP Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss. Honest was the PERFECT nude shade for me (didn't require a lip pencil, even!) The gloss itself wasn't tacky or too thick. Perfect consistency, kept my lips moisturized, tube was a convenient size. I have yet to find a gloss that matches my lips like that one did.

  24. I recently got my hands on 2 of the WnW 6 pan palettes from Burlington Coat Factory - I even asked one of the people working there if they could check to see if they had others in the back since I knew they were discontinued, but they only had one set, but I'm glad I got it - I remembered all the awesome things you guys said about them :)

The shadow that I will always miss (even though I have 3 backups) is Penny by WnW - it's just so beautiful and almost indescribable -- if you have it, you know what I mean - it just has so many sides and dimensions to it depending on how you apply it - it's my most favorite shadow ever :)
