Spotted: L'Oreal Colour Caresse Shine Stains

I think this is probably my 20th post about these much-anticipated lip colors from L'Oreal (dupes for the YSL Glossy Stains), so until I actually review of them, this will be the last for now!

Sidenote: In Europe these glosses are called Shine Caresse (which is what I've been referring to them as for weeks now). But now that they've launched in the US, you can see that the US name for them is Colour Caresse Shine Stain.

Over the past few weeks, I've received numerous photo submissions of this display (thank you SO much to everyone who sent pics!) and I really wish I could post them all. But since I'm running so behind on my new products posts (that's all I've been doing for three days straight on this blog, with the hopes of catching up) it sounds like everyone across the country pretty much already has access to these. So I think that at this point it's best if I just post a few pics since you probably have already seen these in person at the drugstore, Target, etc.

Reader Jodie shared some pics that include shade names of each color. Take a peek:

Pink Perseverance, Pink Resistance, Rose On And On, Lilac Everafter, Berry Persistent, Infinite Fuchsia

Interesting to note: the shade names are much different than the European versions. For example,  the shade Bonnie (available in France), is not in the US collection. Or it could just be renamed Coral Tattoo (not sure if it's a perfect color match though).

As far as I know, there are 12 shades in the US range (please let me know if you've seen additional shades--sometimes counter displays don't contain the full range of shades that you'll see when a new line moves over to the permanent wall display).

I've heard from several of you that these colors appear darker on the lips than how they appear in the tube. So if you're looking for a lighter shade, you might want to go even lighter in your shade selection, just to be safe.

Once again, a HUGE thanks to everyone who submitted photos of this display in the past few weeks. I really wish I could have posted all of your photos, but it's my fault for getting this post up so late in the game. Again, I'm really sorry about that.

Have you already purchased any of the new Colour Caresse Shine Stains? Thoughts?

Thanks again, Jodie, for the great pics and close-ups of all the shade names!

  2. These just showed up in my local drug store and I've already bought eight of them. I'm in LOVE.

  3. I am loving them, they are just what I hoped for :) I bought four at first, but went back for more - now I have eight! I'm missing three pinks & the brown. I have a post comparing them to the YSL glossy stains, but overall I find them quite similar - the L'oreals are a bit more drying and a bit longer lasting on me. However, I've read that others find the L'oreals a bit less drying and not quite as long lasting as the YSLs, so perhaps it depends on which shades you choose.

  4. I bought two of these today and sadly, I was not impressed. On my lips at least, there was no color payoff for the $10 price tag.

  5. Where did she find them? I am going on a hunt tomorrow or these and other new products. I will be hitting up Walgreens, target, CVS and walmart. :)

  6. I finally found these at Target today, after searching Meijer for the last two weeks! I bought 4 of them and have tested the red one - I love it! It did turn a bit pinkish on me, but every sheer red has, so that's not a big deal. I wore it for about 3 hours, ate dinner, then sat another 3 hours and it was still there! Faded a bit, but nothing I've tried lasts through a meal! It was a bit tackier than I had imagined and a little drying, but I am impressed! I can't wait to see your review and swatches so I can pick up a few more!

  7. i picked up "pink resistance" from my local walgreens, and was pretty disappointed with it :( i returned it.. there was just no color payoff whatsoever on my lips. i'll have to try a few other shades, but i'm such a nude/pink lip girl, i don't know if any of these will work for me.. i've had my eye on the YSL glossy stain #17, i'll have to watch for some reviews/dupes! :)

  8. I saw these finally at my local Walgreens in San Jose. I had to get one right away! I got infinite fuschia and I love it so much!! I can't wait to buy more of them :D

  9. I picked up Rose On and On and Stubborn Plum from my local Walgreens and...I'm not quite sure how I feel about them. I'm not getting much color payoff, they feel tacky and somewhat dryiing, and the applicator makes me feel weird. But I do like the shine and when I layer it enough I do get some good color, so...I may pick up another one, but I don't need the whole line.

  10. I picked up "Infinite Fuchsia" a few weeks ago and tried it. The first swipe was good color pay and not streaky (and pretty true to the tube) but if you do another swipe, it becomes a berry with fuchsia undertones. (If that makes any sense @_@)

  11. I was so excited to see these at my walgreens 2 days ago. I was excited i open them in the car and tried ( got infinite fushia and berry persistent) the fushia. I don't know.....it's a weird application, but that doesnt bother me as much as lack of pigmentation on my lips. There was some color, just not as opaque as i expected it to be.I actaully did 3 swipes, hoping i could build up the intensity of the color, but it didnt help. May return it.

  12. I'm not too happy myself...I found mine at walmart for $8 and bought two but these smell pretty rank. It goes away after a while...it smells stronger than sunscreen and is really drying for me. I wanted to like these so bad :(

  14. I really enjoy this. I picked up the fuschia color. I wouldn't say it was darker, but it was certainly brighter on the lip, and less blue. The texture is a little runny at first, but I found they lasted very well on me.

  15. Almost bought some but then got these Revlon lippies instead. Big mistake!

  16. How much are these? Pink Resistance looks like a must, unless you review them badly I suppose.

  17. I've just spotted them in Hong Kong chemists and they are marketed as Shine Caresse, and seems like we have different colour names - I purchased colour 604 Bella, it is a rosy pink with tiny tiny rose and gold shimmers (they are so tiny it's very hard to see unless under strong direct sunlight). It does dry darker than what appears in tube and became more of a fushia/blue tone rosy pink after three hours of application.

It looks actually very similar to the colour 184 Rose On and On in your photos.

  18. I bought two at Target. One was a nude shade "pink resistance" and a red shade "endless red" (190 & 183). It does take a lot of patience to apply. I think I did 2-3 layers with a bit of drying time in between. The consistency is a bit unusual at first. Sort of like what I imagine a thin coat of elmer's glue would feel like on the lips. That feeling went away after a while and it was not unpleasant to me, just different. I did not notice a smell that I can remember.

  19. Oh, and I forgot to mention one big faux paus with these is that there is NO safety seal. I was a bit disturbed about that.

  20. Argh! G... I couldn't wait to get my hands on these "beauties" and sadly they were a big BUST IMO!!! Argh the color transfers differently (as you noted) when on your lips. I find the formula drying. Packaging is super cute, very light weight (its plastic) and sleek! Sadly I can't rave about how "great" the product delivers bc it just doesn't!! I did pick up the chubby sticks from Covergirl the same time I Pick these up and OMG!!!! THOSE BAD BOYS ARE AMAZING! MOISTURIZING, HIGH PIGMENTATION, SMOOTH, HIGH GLOSS/SHINE AND pretty long wearing! I actually LOVE THEM MORE THAN MY REVLON KISSABLE BALM STAINS!!-Thanks, Leslie

  21. I picked up pink resistance and regret not picking up more! It gives a light, natural tint with a little gloss - perfect for when I only need a light application of color.

  22. I found a display in the Walgreens on Jones St., Fishermans Wharf, San Francisco! I wanted to buy some, but was somewhat skeeved out that none were sealed. :( I may wait until there's a sale on drugstore.com.

  23. Found the display at a San Antonio TX Walgreens. Picked up the color in 193 eternally nude and OMG this is the best long wear lip gloss I have ever used, even though I have pretty pigmented lips, you can actually tell that the gloss has color! On me the gloss comes off as a apricot color. I am going to have to go back and pick up some more colors!!

  24. I cannot WAIT to try these out! I love the wand applicator...is it just me or do they look adorable? :)

  25. I picked up the rose on and on today and it is OK, but I probably would have tried a darker shade if I knew these would be so light on the lips. The rose is really pretty though but I might try pink rebellion next or the coral color. Just an FYI they are much lighter on the lips than wat they look like in the tube.

  26. In Australia, we only got five shades, all with 'famous women' names - Eve, Lolita, etc. I got 'Milady' which looks like it most be closest to Berry Persistent. Sometimes I would *love* to know the thinking behind international marketing!
