Spotted: New CoverGirl Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balms

I had heard a rumor a while back that CoverGirl was going to release some pencils similar to Clinique Chubby Sticks/Tarte Lipsurgence/ Revlon Balm Stains, but of course it was just a rumor...until now!

I've been under the weather for the past day or so (which would explain why you didn't hear from me yesterday) but I'm feeling a bit more like myself today. And what's making me feel even better? Reader tweakweasel spotted the new CoverGirl Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balms at his local Walmart recently and was kind enough to share some pics (and also jot down all the shade names)!

It appears that there are twelve shades in the CoverGirl Lipperfection Jumbo Gloss Balm range. Most of the rows in this display contain two pencils per shade, but some rows contain four pencils per shade (details underneath each photo). Also, tweakweasel was nice enough to let us know which shade Pink is wearing is the promotional photo--keep reading if you'd like to know.

Row one:

I think the shade range looks quite promising. I see at least three shades here that I'm super excited to purchase/try. How about you? Thoughts?

Thanks so much, tweakweasel, for all of the fantastic pics and details about this new line!

  5. Wow, I can't wait to try these!

  6. Excited to find these! It looks like a better shade selection than Revlon's (at least for me, anyway).

  7. Nice! I hope they don't have CG's typical lipstick flavour though -- I can't stand it!

I haven't tried the Revlon ones yet but I'm loving the Annabelle ones here in Canada. I wish the brand was more accessible outside of Canada, because their version is really good!

  8. Ooh this is exciting! I hope the formula is similar to Revlon's, but hopefully with some more color options.

  9. I'm excited for these!! The revlon ones are amazing so I can't wait to see how these measure up.

  10. Woot! I love the Revlon sticks especially, so I am really excited to see a similar line with some more potential colors. There is a brown in there, which makes me excited. Can't wait to test. But I'm with eight, I hope that they don't have the covergirl lipstick flavor. Bleh.

  11. Ooo, I like their colors better than Revlon's stains. I may purchase half or all of them after Christmas.

  12. I have not bought Cover Girl anything in years! I would try one of these for sure. I am not sure which..I would like to see them in person and find one with a really good color payoff. I am the only blue eyed blonde that I know that really does not look good in pink..IMO So the color would have to be fairly bright. I will probably wait for you to review one G.!

  15. It looks like on the other side there are the new CG nail polishes. This is one of those big displays on the end of an aisle. :)

  17. Ooh these look good! Hopefully someone will sell them on ebay or somewhere, because I know Australia won't see them until at least mid-next year, with a 200% mark-up :(

  18. I'm OBSESSED with their Lip Perfection Lipsticks, so hopefully these are just as good, pigment wise.

Revlon's Balm Stains are ok to me, personally. Not as pigmented as I would like. Not bad, but definitely not as great as they're hyped up to be.

  20. Oohh these look nice.

I have a couple of Revlon Balm Stains, which I like ok.
But I'd rather have lippies like Revlon lip butters, buildable color. Can be sheer if needed.
The staining from the Revlon Balm Stains make my lips too bold.

  21. oooh I too like the looks of these shades better than the Revlon ones already, which are either way too bright or way too pale on me except for Honey and one of the red (Romance?) which are both always in my bag. can't wait to find these? any clue as to the prices?

  22. I love the Revlon balms and I adore the Cover Girl Lip Perfection lipsticks so I absolutely will be buying these! Going after Haute Pink Twist first :).

  23. I saw this post yesterday and I was already headed to Walmart, and sure enough, they had them. It was on an end cap and hiding behind some other display. I bought the one in Rose Twist. I thought it was going to be a MLBB shade but it's a little pinker. I actually really like it. Unfortunately, no minty taste or smell - it smells sort of like the CG lipsticks, but milder. Also - I found out this morning that they are trying to be all high end and not putting the shade name on the actual product - only on the plastic. Luckily I still had the plastic so I know it is Rose Twist. I think they are worth a shot - more of a balmy lipstick than Revlon or Tarte or Clinique though. Mine was $6.49 at my Walmart (Dallas, TX).

  25. Ooohhhh I'm SO excited! I absolutely LOVE these type of lip products! I have tons of the Tarte LipSurgence pencils & also a number of the Revlon Balm pencils as well. They make life so easy and take up less room and weight in my purse....can't wait to see a review & color swatches on these! :)

  26. I like seeing the darker colors as well! I'll have to snag a few. Mauve, Scarlet, Jam, Coral, Berry, Watermelon, Rose...oh, who am I kidding, I'll eventually have to get almost all of them!

  27. I purchased 2- rose twist & plum twist. Not impressed with the color payoff at all, and IMHO the formula doesnt last as long as Revlon Balm Stains either. CG has prettier colors (if they didnt sheer out), & wish Revlon had a darker plum color.

  28. saw swatches of these at beautybuzzhub.com, they are very lightly pigmented, so they remind me more of the clinique chubby sticks rather than the revlons balmstains. I wonder how long the hydrating/ moisturizing effect last.

  29. i still havent' seen these :(

  30. I liked the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains but only had luck with two colors: Crush and Romantic. I have deep pigment lips for fair skin. Everything berry works for me with the fair skin but thats about it. I have been dying to get the right peach stain.I was in love with Emma Stone's add for the lip butter but too shimmery and sheer to work on me :/

I saw the set up on a shelf above the hair products in Rite Aid ready to be released! I couldn't find a hint of it on Covergirl's website. I'm so excited!
I have not had much luck with Covergirl's marker stains so I hope this is a better product.

  31. I find it funny when people compare the revlon lip balm STAINS to other lip products such as tinted balms, butters, shines etc. Why does this comparison happen all the time?! Is it because of the similar packaging? I've even seen the Revlon balm stains compared to Revlon lip butters! Why?

    They are completely different products!
Yes, they are BALM stains, but they are still STAINS! The balm allows the wearer to apply the stain with ease. Gliding on and easily blending. Creating a smoother more even look... As opposed to the extremely drying lip stain we were all used to using. The bitter tasting Liquid/Gel crap. They're actually a great product (minus the crappy color range). They are a balm stain!

If I were looking for a hydrating lip product why in the world would I opt for a stain?? They're not really known for being especially hydrating! The appeal is that they stain your lips for long lasting wear!
If you've got dry lips, then of course once the balm wears off, and the stain is left, youll likely have dry lips. The cool thing about a stain is, all you have to apply is Chapstick. No mirror acquired! I quite like that concept personally.
However, if I had really dry lips, I'd probably buy a hydrating lip butter / moisturizing lip tint VS any kind of stain.

Okay. I'm done! I had to let that out. Sorry.

I will be checking these out, they look interesting!

  32. I just picked one of these babies up from Can end cap display @ Target!

I bought this in Cocoa Twist! It's very sheer, but I actually like it! It covers any darker pigmentation on my lips for an nice even mlbb look! It's literally the exact shade of as my lips Lol! Kinda freaky, that's never happened to me before!

I will be picking up a few more of these! Rose twist or Mauve twist are sparking my interest!
