My Candie's haul from Kohl's

My Candie's haul

So my local Kohl's finally got the new Candie's beauty collections, and the above picture includes everything that I purchased on my recent trip.

Want more details on the things I didn't buy? Keep reading...

It wasn't that I didn't find anything of interest, and last week Kohl's was running a sale on Candie's to boot (the bath and body products were 35% off  and the lip glosses and nail polishes were B2G1FREE and you could mix and match between the polishes and glosses).

The Sugarplum Blossom  fragrance was my favorite of all the bath and body fragrances (it's sweet and tart,  which, surprise surprise is why I loved it), but the body mist (and all the body mists in general) seemed  weakly-scented, which led to me wanting to purchase the eau de toilette instead. But the EDT was $25 and I just couldn't justify dropping that amount on a 1.35 oz fragrance for myself right before the holidays (also, there were no testers for the EDTs, and I would really like to know if the EDTs have decent sillage before I make a purchase).

As for the nail polish ($8 each), the bottles are just as cute in person as they appear in photos, and they seem pretty sturdy.  However, none of the colors appeared to be quite unique--they all seemed dupable to me (lots of cremes, a few glitters, shimmers and metallics--no jellies that I could see). The only shade that really stood out to me was White Noise (iridescent bar glitter in a clear base), but I think I could probably dupe that one too by visiting a few indie beauty supply stores (and I'd probably only spend 2 or 3 bucks).

So...I think I'll wait until there's an even better sale, or I have a good Kohl's coupon, before I purchase any items from the new Candie's line.

Until then, have YOU purchased any of the new Candie's beauty products? Thoughts?

  1. I haven't. I got excited when a saw a shelf full of nail polish the last time I paid Kohl's a visit, but I agree. Nothing unique enough for me to want to spend my money.

    1. LOL! Sorry you missed it--I tried to explain in this post that I actually didn't by *anything*. Your computer is fine--the picture is of nothing. :)

  3. This is hilarious! I love it! I have these kinds of trips to Kohl's as well. I either score a ton of stuff or nothing at all. The last haul I did, I did online. Good luck on your next adventure. :)

  5. Haa haa! I was sitting waiting and waiting for the photo. I did some swatching waiting for the photo to load. Then, I finally started reading the post and realized that I wasn't going to see anything anyway. *giggle* I felt the same way about them when I saw them--meh.

  6. You got me there for a second with the photo! lol I agree that these are pretty standard colors. It always feels both vindicating and disappointing to walk away from a shopping trip deciding you don't really need or want anything.

You said it perfectly: vindicating AND disappointing!

  7. I'm adding the chorus of people who didn't see anything unique about the Candie's makeup line. If I can get something similar for 1/2 the price then why spend the extra money?

    1. Thank you!! Until the price goes down, it's a pass for me. :/

  8. This is hilarious! I saw the line in my local store and just thought "Nope, don't need any of it. Weird." Believe me, that is RARE! I think I was turned off by the price, even with a sale. If I'm going to use something that's on the high end of drug store prices, I want it to feel special, or at least special-er, than drug store stuff. So far, I really haven't been all that interested in any of the Kohls beauty lines, but that of course won't stop me from checking them out every time I'm there! :)

  9. Eventhough kohls has good sale, I.e 30% off.. The base price of some if their stuff is realllyy high for what it is.. For example, their sunglasses: same cheap plastic frames you can find in Chinatown, smack Lauren Conrads name on it and now they're $32!! but dint worry it's 30%off.. Theyre still over $20 !! darn you kohls!!

    1. My boyfriend always has a similar feeling when he goes to Kohls. He wanted to buy a shirt there once, but the price was so high when compared to comparable shirts at other stores. So then it went on sale, but the price only went down to what he'd pay at full price somewhere else. :/

  11. Aww, what a let-down! I have to say, I was kind of underwhelmed when I saw the new Candie's display at my local Kohl's... I guess I was hoping for something a little more fun and unique. Oh well, maybe I'll spend a little more time looking at the display the next time I have an awesome coupon.

  12. I'd think your Kohl's would open one up for you to use as a sample if you ask. I work at Kohl's and our policy is "Yes We Can", meaning basically, we do what we can to make a customer happy. If you are unsure of whether or not you want to make a purchase and the only thing holding you back is that you can't smell the product first, they should take a risk by opening one up for you to test. After all, if you like it, you'll buy it and that won't hurt them. Next time you're there, go ahead and ask! Won't hurt.(If there is not a beauty associate around, ask the jewelry counter associate for help if your Kohl's is set up where jewelry and beauty are near one another).

I find the mists nice and pleasant but I am not a big fan of strong fragrance. I don't like most perfumes because they linger and irritate my sinuses but I spray that Sugarplum Blossom mist tester on my wrists every night I work, lol. I applied it 3 hours ago and I can still smell it, though it's not super strong (but again, that's how i like it).

  13. Oh my gosh, G, I ran into the SAME ISSUES with the Sugrplum mist!!! So pretty, but too weak... So I passed :( Oh well... maybe there'll be another one like it sometime soon.
