Spotted: Revlon Star Attraction Magnetic Style and Sweetly Sinister Nail Art Stencil Collections

Revlon is really cranking out the new collections right now (see yesterday's  blog posts) and today I've got two additional collections to show you thanks to reader Erin, who spotted these are her local Walgreens (she also spotted them at Harmon, if you live in a state that has Harmon stores).

First up, the new Revlon magnetic polish collection:

Yes, everyone and their mother has a magnetic polish collection these days. And yes, the magnet is located on the top of the cap. But what sets this collection a little bit apart from the others is that the magnet design for all five shades is a star (yes, I know you can find star magnets in other collections, but stripes are more common at the drugstore). And the colors themselves seem a little bit more dark and sultry than other collections I've seen at the drugstore.

Some insights from Erin:
The magnet is just glued to the cap-no cuticle guide unfortunately. But it seems pretty strong...I held one up to the side of another bottle and could clearly see the pattern. They all had the same star pattern.
A good, strong magnetic polish is nice to see at the drugstore (some tend to be on the weaker side) so if you haven't taken the magnetic polish plunge yet, this might be a good place to start (especially when these go on sale).

Next up, the Sweetly Sinister stencils:

Halloween-themed stencils. Yay! If didn't catch my post from yesterday, there are also nail art stencils in the new Gucci Westman collection. So this seems to be a new trend for Revlon, and one I can definitely get on board with if they work well (can't wait to try/review them in the near future).

What I love about this collection is that not only are their some cute designs here (more on that in a moment), but Revlon has also introduced new Top Speed shades in this display:

There are four new polishes and six stencil designs in this collection:

Spiders and MUSTACHES! Revlon might be a bit behind the curve with introducing a magnetic collection this late in the game,  but they're definitely the first to introduce the ubiquitous hipster 'stache graphic into the mainstream drugstore world. I have to admit, even I (the polar opposite of hipster) love the mustache graphic (my favorite is this uber-popular container and all of its variations like this. And these. And THIS!). So I'm loving this stencil the most out of all the designs in this display. If you're in San Diego and you find these, leave one for me, will ya?

Hearts and bows. (Very darling and very Kawaii.)

Have you spotted/purchased any of these new goodies yet? Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Erin, for the fantastic photos and info. I really appreciate that you shared these with us (and created a lemming for me with those 'stache stencils!).

  1. I'll keep an eye out for the stencils!

I still love magnetic polish, but none of those colors look unique / different from the ones I already own, so I'll probably pass on those. And, the Sinful Colors star magnet is great (or otherwise I'd buy one just for the magnet!). I actually compared all the magnets I own yesterday (results on my blog for those who want to see pictures), and the SC and the Nails, Inc. were the two strongest magnets by far.

  3. Saw these at my Rite Aide and passed right by - mot into Halloween polishes - I have some already and I am not one that goes off the deep end to wear them but maybe 1-2 days out of the entire yr...odd I know as my b'day is on Halloween and I don't have any religious things going on that keep me out of the hoopla of it all..just not into the costumes, decos - find it all tacky and prefer to just keep my fall theme going that gets so little time to use/enjoy where I live cause summer goes right up till Halloween pretty much. The Magnetics I passed over cause I am so tired of this trend...was suprised that ChG is releasing a Magnetic II and when Sally Hanson released their current Magnetics thought odd as the trend is really beyond peaked...but then the shades for Magnetics are better for fall as they all have to bee deeper more dusty shades to deal with the special pigments in the polish used to attract the magnet and make the movement. I do like the magnet shape shown by Revlon - but still won't be picking any up myself. My Sally's still have a totally full display of the Magnetics first collection - I might get one of those when they go into the next 50% off the 50% off that bin. The poster above said the Magnetics shade don't look unique - and that's what I find - they all are in the same color ranges no matter the manufacture.

  8. Oh G!!!! Please please try to get a hold of these stencils! I am dying to see a review! I think they are so cool. I bought a pumpkin shaped hole punch that I planned on using to make my own nail polish stickers! I have had good luck doing that compliments of a link you posted last spring to Lainie Fingers blog. I really like these stencils! I haven't yet bought a magnetic polish and don't know if I am going to because it is so hard for me to keep my fingers still enough to get a proper design...
