Swatchfest: Wet n Wild Limited Edition Be Jeweled Collection

I apologize for the delay in getting this post up, but I suddenly find myself having lots of polishes to swatch and not enough hours in the day (oh what a problem, right?). As most of you probably know by now, the Be Jeweled Collection is limited edition, and if you're looking for it in your area, be sure to check out the Interactive Sightings Map here.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Be Jeweled Collection
(retail: $2.99 each, 0.3 oz)

Much like the China Glaze Prismatic Collection, these polishes have a color-shifting effect, although the shift occurs in the base, not in the glitter:

I swatched all of the polishes in this collection on a nail wheel, and I used two coats for each color (no top coat or base coat):

The thing I love about these polishes is that, depending on the lighting and angle, they shift into totally different colors than what you see in the bottle pics above. Here are a few close-ups:

And here's a shot taken in low light:

The second color on the left (above) is Jewels For Your Highness, which looks very pink in the bottle. Notice how it shifts to peach at that angle.

And since many of you asked if these are dupes of the China Glaze Prismatic Collection, I wanted to show you side-by-sides of the purple and pink shades in BOTH collections (all polishes were swatched with two coats of polish and no bottom or top coat):

Although they're in the same vein (the multi-colored glitter is nearly identical) I don't think these are dupes at all.  As you can see, the Wet n Wild polishes have more of a sheer look to them. The glitter isn't nearly as dense as the China Glaze polishes:

While the China Glaze polishes are perfectly opaque after two coats, you can see that the Wet n Wild polishes are still quite sheer after two coats. I think that I can best sum up their difference like this:
  • If you're looking for total opacity, jam-packed glitter and color-shift, the China Glaze polishes would probably be your best bet.
  • If you're looking for a more ethereal, color-shifting look and you want to use these as layering polishes (as a top coat with another polish underneath), I'd consider the Wet n Wild.
I personally love both looks, and I think both collections have their own unique qualities that make them BOTH must-haves, but that's just me!

Do you own any Wet n Wild Be Jeweled polishes? What do you think of them? Don't forget to check out the sightings map if you're looking for these in your area.

  1. They all look like the exact same color lol. They are gorgeous though, I see what you mean about the China Glaze shades, they are more glittery, but I still think the wet n' wild ones are a pretty good dupe

    2. I've found some in Orange County too, actually it might even be considered LA County cause it's on the border.

I used to NEVER be able to find any limited edition WNW collections, but for some reason Rite Aid seems to be selling them now.

  4. I picked up all 5 of these today .. I couldn't choose! LOL Along with the .. 2 Essies, 4 Color Clubs, Petite Color Fever and CQ polish. OK, so I have a bit of a problem. You'd think after 600+/- bottles, I wouldn't want anymore. *falls over laughing*

  5. I own all five of these, and I don't like them very much on their own, but they are FANTASTIC over black. Speak When Spoken To is my favorite!

  7. I picked up Bow In My Presence but I might need Jewels For Your Highness too.

I posted a mani yesterday using Bow In My Presence on my tips over a blue franken I made and wow! It looks like I dipped my fingers in fairy dust.
Even though it was sheer on it's own, I think with the right "underwear" polish underneath it can look pretty opaque.

  9. These are not in my area. But if I spot them, I am going to snap them up. Your fingers look so pretty. And I agree that the Wet'n'Wild shades could do so well paired up with other colors.

"Underwear". Heh. I just learned a new polish term. :)

  11. I managed to get my hands on all of these. Speak When Spoken To over black is an uh-MAY-zing combo, and over a deep purple (think Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in "Loves You Not" from the NYFW collection). Born into Privilege also probably looks awesome layered over OPI Here Today, Aragon Tomorrow.

  12. Agreeing with Emi - they aren't all that impressive on their own, but over black - yum. Also, over the black, the colors don't look similar to each other at all.

  14. Thank you for this side-by-side comparison with the China Glaze Prismatic. I think I'm going to go ahead and splurge on the China Glaze. =)
