Review: Bath & Body Works Aruba Coconut Fragrance Mist

A little while back I posted the press release for the new Island Paradise collection from Bath & Body Works (click here for all the details) and I recently received the fragrance mist in Aruba Coconut (one of three fragrances in this collection) for review. Today I'd like to share my thoughts with you.
Bath & Body Works Aruba Coconut Fragrance Mist
(retail: $12.50, 8 oz)

(To see the entire family of Aruba Coconut products, click here.)

I received a press sample of this fragrance (in a plain bottle), but of course the official bottle design looks just like the image above.

Full disclosure: I'm a coconut fiend, so my opinion of this fragrance is going to be a little slanted since I pretty much adore anything coconut-scented. But after wearing this fragrance for about a week now (every day, often applying it multiple times a day), I can tell you that it seems a bit more tropical than other BBW coconut-based scents I've owned in the past. Not as sweet as Creamy Coconut, not as milky as Exotic Coconut, but more along the lines of Coconut Lime Verbena.

From Bath & Body Works:

Lavishly mist our refreshing fragrance mist all over your body to leave skin lightly scented with our exclusive Aruba Coconut, an island blend of creamy coconut, exotic lychee and white musk.
  • Top Notes: Juicy Thai Mango, Fuji Apple, White Nectarine
  • Mid Notes: Passionflower, Vanilla Orchid, Casaba Melon
  • Dry Notes: Coconut Cream, Tahitian Vanilla, Indonesian Sandalwood

While there is no lime in this fragrance, I think that if you enjoy BBW's Coconut Lime Verbena, you'll probably enjoy this as well. Instead of lime and verbena, you've got mango, apple and nectarine which give it sort of a similar "tart" note that blends delightfully with the creamy coconut of this fragrance.

Staying power seems just about the same as the other coconut-based body mists I've owned from BBW. It's probably not going to last you all day and night (what body mist does?) but it's not so fleeting that ten minutes after you apply it you'll feel the need to apply more. Again, I'm a coconut fiend, so I found myself wanting to apply this multiple times per day, but that's just me.

FINAL VERDICT: If you like sweet, tropical coconut scents and you're already a fan of BBW Coconut Lime Verbena, I think you'll want to give this one a whiff the next time you're at your local BBW store. It's perfect for creating a tropical summertime mood exactly when you need it the most (in the middle of winter) and I can see it becoming one of my go-to weekend fragrances this spring and well into the summer.

  4. ashwillis: I actually received an advance press sample of the Pink Chiffon EDT, which I will be reviewing next week! :) About Coconut Lime Breeze, although i haven't tried it, I suspect that it's a replacement for Coconut Lime Verbena, since Coconut Lime Verbena is only available in a limited amount of products now (mostly hand soap). I of course don't know how similar they are, but my suspicion is that they're probably pretty close. :)

  7. Okay, two things... This past year BBW had Aruba Coconut but the year before they had Hawaii Coconut. In my opinion they're exactly the same, notes wise, the whole nine, just diff name. Did you ever try that one? And miss coconut fiend have you ever used Softsoap's coconut & warm ginger hand soap (yummmmyyy!!)?

@JoElla - Coconut Lime Breeze smells extremely different from Coconut Lime Verbena. The notes are different. I like Verbena, I hate Breeze. Breeze is way too limey.

  8. You mentioned you're a coconut fiend =). I'm wondering what your favorite coconut fragrance is (not necessarily BBW)? It may sound strange, but I love the smell of Aussie Hair Insurance (not sure if their other products smell that way), and I haven't found anything else that smells quite as coconut-y.
