My Bed Bath & Beyond Haul (and why BB&B is one of my new favorite stores)

As you all know, it's crazy season for drugstore makeup lovers since this is the time of year that all the new launches for 2012 start surfacing in stores. If you'd like to see my coverage so far of all the new products headed your way for 2012, click here (and be sure to click "older posts" when you get to the end of the page for more posts).

I've got a lot of info about Bed Bath & Beyond in this post, so please take a moment to read through--I don't want you to miss anything!

If your local Bed Bath & Beyond has a Harmon inside of it (a store-within-a-store), this is THE place right now to find many of these new products. In my experience, Bed Bath & Beyond is putting out new product displays before the usual drugstores are, so if you have a Bed Bath & Beyond with a Harmon inside of it in your city, you're in luck.

NOTE: I was just told by a lovely reader that the store locator on the Bed Bath & Beyond site might not be 100% reliable in terms of finding locations in your area with an extended beauty section. So JUST to be safe, call a store in your area and ASK THEM if they know of any stores in your city that have a Harmon inside of them. That's what I did the other day, and the sales associate confirmed that in San Diego, only the Mission Valley and Chula Vista locations have Harmons inside of them.

IMPORTANT: when I made the following purchases yesterday, my friendly BB&B clerk told me a few things I want to pass along to you. I cannot guarantee the validity of these statements when it comes to your city/state, but it's worth looking into:
  • Bed Bath & Beyond accepts returns/exchanges on used beauty products. If you buy something, try it and don't like it, you can return/exchange if you have your receipt.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond accepts manufacturer's coupons.
  • In SOME states (I believe she said there are 8 states total that do this, California being one of them), BB&B accepts EXPIRED manufacturer's coupons. I had an expired L'Oreal coupon in my wallet and they gladly accepted it, which is seriously a dream-come-true for me since I tend to hold on to expired coupons more often than I should (hey, now I have a reason for not cleaning out my purse!).
I was literally shocked by the prices of the products I purchased yesterday, and BB&B's prices on beauty products in general. In many cases, their products were about $1-$3 less then what I've been paying elsewhere these days. Add coupons to the mix (even expired ones if your state allows it) and you're looking at a heck of a savings.

So, here's what I bought (which of course I will be testing and reviewing here on the blog in the days to come):

Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara in Blackest Black (BBB price: $6.79)

The early buzz on this mascara has been incredible, so how could I NOT try it?

Revlon Nail Color in Whimsical (BBB price: $3.79)

This is the Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air dupe. Since I can't afford the original right now, I'm happy to take the dupe!

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Golden Sage (BBB price: $8.79)

How could I NOT get one of these? I've been lusting after these Armani Eyes to Kill dupes ever since they first surfaced in Canada.

Revlon ColorStay Eyeshadow Quad in Siren (BBB price: $6.79)

Since Revlon is getting rid of the old-style ColorStay quads in favor of these new ones, I had to pick one up to see how they compare.

L'Oreal Balm SPF15 in Plush Plum (BBB price: $5.79)

You know I love my Revlon Lip Butters, so of course I need to see how these new L'Oreal versions compare!

I hope this post helps some of you who've  been looking for these new drugstore beauty products. Please check back soon for my reviews of all of the products mentioned in this post.

  3. Ok, I will have to stop by BB&B now. I have been looking out for L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows ever since hearing about it from a Canadian Beauty Guru! And after seeing your post on L'Oreal Balm, I've been wanting to try that too. You are such an enabler, lol! :)

  10. i'm so jealous! my BB&B doesn't have a Harmon. i went looking for Whimsical last weekend with no luck : ( thanks for all the tips on coupon and return/exchange policies. i have so much makeup that ended up looking horrible and it just takes up space now.

  11. Can't wait for the reviews! Are those shadows on the left larger than the ones on the right in that Revlon quad, though? That bothers me! Just make them all the same size lol

  12. i totally agree that BB&B has an amazing beauty selection and really good prices!! i was there last night and i also saw the "As Seen on TV" stamping kit! They had a huge display - much bigger than the one at my Rite Aid!! Can't wait to see your review on the L'Oreal Balms! :)

  13. I agree! My BB&B always has a great makeup selection! Plus, you can't beat the coupons!!! My BB&B takes expired coupons too! :) I have even found some hard-to-find items!

  14. Yes, I have been using the 20% BBB coupons at Harmon forever.

Also, the 20% BBB coupons you get in the mail never expire (even if there is an expiration date). The ones you print off the computer do expire on the date though.

    Enjoy cheap cosmetics!

  15. Oh, bummer... just called my BB&B and the closest one with a Harmon inside is 45 minutes from me. Arrgh! (that's my pirate-y form of frustration there). If I ever venture that way I will definitely check it out!
In the meantime, I am hoping the L'oreal Infallible stuff shows up somewhere else, because for me that is the main attraction! :)

  16. Major Haulage. I don't have a BBB near me that has the makeup displays. I went and actually ran around the store looking for them. lol

  17. Anyone know if there is a way to order online? The prices look amazing. No BB&B carry the beauty in my state! Boo!

  18. BBB is one of my favourite stores! I don't go there often enough. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the BBB's in Canada have a beauty section like they do in the U.S, which is unfortunate.

Have you seen/heard about the new Maybelline 24 hour eyeshadow? It's kind of like an paintpot (cream eyeshadow) and they have a nice array of colours. I saw a full display at my local Shoppers the other day and was surprised because I haven't heard of anyone talking about it.

  19. I'm so jealous! The BB&B closest to me has no makeup at all -_-
I guess they haven't integrated the beauty store starting w/ H

  20. BBB is also good for finding products that are discontinued or not being sold in other drugstores. Also for those LE items that are on displays at front of drugstores, it's a good place to look if those LE items are sold out at your local drugstore. I can't tell you how many times I've found so many LE items on those little displays and they're sold out everywhere and then I go to BBB and they're fully stocked or at least have plenty of them there. Same thing with discontinued favorites. I always tend to find something that isn't being sold in stores anymore here and it's usually something I like! At least this is how it is at my BBB, can't speak for all of them unfortunately :(

  21. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it! You chose some lovely products! I cannot wait to get my hands on a loreal balm!

  22. Ooooh thanks a lot for the suggestion about calling BBB to ask about stores in the area with the Harmon thingy. I'd never thought of that and I know the one near me doesn't have it.

I seriously can't wait to see your swatches of the nail polish and your review of the L'oreal eyeshadow. :D

  23. Hey, G, would you mind reviewing the Revlon quad first? I'm trying to decide if I want to get some of the old ones since they're all on clearance or just wait for the revamp, if they're better...

    Thanks!! :)

  24. Nice haul!!! I cant wait to read reviews!!! I am quite intrigued by Whimsical!!! Have fun testing!

  27. I checked online and it said none within 50 miles. Tonite, I happened to be on the highway and got off and fought traffic, drove over and low and behold a harmon sign. the door said enter at bbb door. I am so going back tomorrow without kids and with coupons

  28. I wish they would get to my area. They're in Canada and California, so it's like "Boo! they skipped me!"(I'm in southern Washington state). And you happenned to buy the one Loreal balm I was interested in. Will you please swatch/review the loreal eyeshadow and balm? Pleeeeze?
