Spotted: New Sally Hansen Gem Crush Nail Color Collection

The first time I heard about this new glitter collection from Sally Hansen was when reader Emilee posted about it on the You Tell Me page this week. Emilee, if you're reading this, you also mentioned another collection called Smooth and Perfect (pastels)--if you have pics or more details about that collection, please let me know. I'd LOVE to see it!

So anyway, getting back to Gem Crush, the day after I first heard about it, the lovely Meagan of Bonny Binnacle told me she had pics! AND, she also has pics of all the new Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips designs (there are a ton!) which I'll be posting tomorrow. Thank you SO much, Meagan!

And right after I finished this post, reader Krissy sent some additional pics of Gem Crush my way, which I'll post tomorrow as well. It sounds like Gem Crush is popping up at CVS and Meijer now (Meagan found them at Meijer and Krissy spotted them at CVS), so keep your eyes peeled!

(retail: $5.50 at Meijer, $7.39 at CVS, 0.31 oz)

Meagan also provided helpful commentary for each picture:

 Meagan writes:

Razzle Dazzle (pink) and Be-jeweled (purple). Razzle Dazzle is very close to China Glaze Material Girl, as Be-jeweled is *very* close to Wet 'n Wild It's All In The Cut and Piggy Polish Among The Stars...all three are so identical, I don't think I could tell them apart!

Meagan writes:

Big Money (champagne pewter) and Bling-tastic (blue). Big Money is an original! I can't think of a dupe even close to it! Bling-tastic could totally pass as a dupe for OPI Gone Gonzo!.

Meagan writes:

Lady Luck (garnet) and Showgirl Chic (silver). Lady Luck seems like there could be a dupe for it in the OPI Muppets collection, but I can't think of the exact polish. Showgirl Chic could pass as a dupe for China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara.

Meagan writes:

Cha-Ching! (red) and Glitz Gal (charcoal). Cha-Ching! could be a dupe of OPI Gettin' Miss Piggy With It, and Glitz Gal is a dead-on dupe of Wet 'n Wild Diamond In The Rough. Glitz Gal also has another dupe, along with WnW Diamond In The Rough: China Glaze Some Like It Haute.

It seems like all of these have possible dupes out there, except for Big Money...I haven't seen anything like it!

Thanks so much, Meagan, for all the fantastic info and pics!

Have you spotted the Sally Hansen Gem Crush collection in your area yet?

  3. These look fantastic! I'm actually glad to see a lot of these dupey glitters to be honest - The Wet & Wild shades especially are super hard to find considering I live outside the US. Perhaps these will make it to Aus, or at least show up on eBay!

  4. Do you know if these are limited edition or if they're going to be in the core line? Thanks for the pictures and info!

  5. I saw these at CVS and picked up Cha Ching and Lady Luck (which I think is really unique) but majority of these polishes resemble the China Glaze collection in my opinion, but the wear on these is nice.

  9. Yeah some of these are very similar to the new China Glaze Eye Candy Glitters and the WnW glitters, but the magenta and the champagne color seem more unique to me! I might have to pick those up! Im holding out the for the CG Eye Candy simply because they are "inspired" by Marilyn!

  12. Do you think the $2 price difference between Meijer and CVS is due to the regions where the stores are located or because CVS just charges more?

  14. I picked up Glitz Gal, Showgirl Chic and Big Money today. I also got some Kiss nail stickers that are a dupe for the Sephora nail bling stickers in gold!

  15. Yahoo! Found these myself today at Bed, Bath & Beyond - picked up Big Money b/c it was the only non-dupey one I was attracted to. The blue glitter looks very similar to Revlon's Blue Mosaic, the magenta is a relative of Nicole by OPI Sensational Scarlet, but I think the Muppets - Excuse Moi - that was speculated to be similar is very different from it. The "Some Like It Haute" dupe is ALSO a dupe of a new Deborah Lippmann polish I see... can't recall the name! Other good stuff I found @ B,B &B- Color Club Mistletoe holiday glitters collection - though 2 are dupes for Funky Fingers holos. Also the new Diamond Stregnth Sally Hansens in the faceted bottles - many re-issues but includes "Glass Slipper" - crystally flakie top coat! I took a decent pic of the display + all the others new polish displays there & the 3 racks of new SH Instant Effects - msg me if you need any pics of these! Sorry for the long post... =)

  16. I picked up Big Money ... and trust me - I'm an addict so I could easily have picked up the others, too. But I'm growing weary of these companies giving us the same things under different names! I knew a lot of them were dupes for OPIS muppets - but what really irked me was when I saw Showgirl chic which is an exact dupe to Sally Hansens Hard as Nails "Ice Queen". The only difference I can see is the price. I picked up Ice Queen for 1.99 and now Sally wants 7.99 for it. That just turned me off of the whole collection, really. I don't mind when they dupe other companies - but when they dupe themselves? *enter disgust face here*

  17. I too loved the look of them and picked up the Cha-Ching. Di my nails on Saturday night and was discussed with the outcome on Sunday. It was evident that the Cha-ching did not adhere to by base/ridge filler and peeled off 50 to 75% of the nails. I had a couple on the first day and a few more the next day. I was so mad this morning when I lost 2 more nails and removed it all off. Do not know if anyone else has experienced this or not. Just wanted to give you all a heads up on watching out what you apply under this polish. I am gun shy on trying it again- maybe next month. At least I purchased at Meijer at the cheaper price, but not happy right now.
