A DIY version of Butter London Wallis

Psssst: want to know how to make your own version of Butter London Wallis (retail: $14) for about half the price, using colors you can find at the drugstore? Well then keep reading!

I actually owe this entire post to my lovely Facebook follower, Lindy, who gave me this brilliant tip! Lindy commented on my Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze post that if you use a light coat of Sinful Colors All About You (which I actually just posted swatches of recently) on top of Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze, it looks like Butter London Wallis.

If you don't know what Butter London Wallis looks like, check out these swatches:

OK, so now that you have a pretty good idea of what Butter London Wallis looks like, remember that color wheel I did of my khaki greens for the Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze post? Well I busted out my Sinful Colors All About You (retail: $1.99) and applied one very light coat to each "nail":

Now keep in mind that none of these "nails" have top coat on them, so the finished look will be intensified with the addition of a nice, shiny top coat.

In my opinion, Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze + All About You DOES look very similar to Butter London Wallis, but I think that CQ Golden Green + All About You looks similar as well!

As I was writing this post, I had to see what Bronze Ablaze + All About You looked like on my nails. Keep in mind that this was one VERY quick and uneven coat of Bronze Ablaze followed by an equally quick and uneven coat of All About You:

I think that if I had taken my time and did two coats of Bronze Ablaze and focused on applying a very light coat of All About You, the overall look would have been even closer to Wallis.

So for around half the price, you can get the look of Wallis using polishes available at the drugstore (or perhaps already in your own stash).

Thanks SO much, Lindy, for the great tip!

Do you already own Sinful Colors All About You? I had NO idea that this sheer gold polish would look so stunning layered over my khaki greens. It's like I've got five new polishes!

All of the products featured in this post were purchased with personal funds.

  3. I actually just bought All About You this morning with the intention of wearing it over Revlon Amber Ablaze for a pretty red and gold fall mani. I'm super excited to try it over other polishes now, too!
