Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers 2011 Part 2 (pic heavy)

Finally! I'm sorry it took so long for me get Part Two of this series up, but I hope it was worth the wait!

For those who missed Part One, you can see it here. Also, for a full list of everything that's in the Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers Halloween 2011 collection, click here.

Just a reminder that I'm not covering the entire collection in these two posts; I received a sampling of products so if you'd like to see everything, click the link above. I also spotted some products at my local Rite Aid, and you can get a better look at those (including the eyeshadow duos and polishes) here.

Note: this is not a formal review of these products. I did not have time to test everything for a "real" review, so please consider this more of a "look" at each product.

Mistress of Darkness Face & Body Tattoos
(retail: $2.99, 1 sheet per package)

Feather Fetish Self-Adhesive Eyelashes in Dramatize
(retail: $3.99)

Feather Fetish Self-Adhesive Eyelashes in Mesmerize
(retail: $3.99 each)

Glitter Palette in Rising Star
(retail: $3.99)

These are cream shadows - actually I hesitate to call them "shadows" because, to me, they feel more like traditional Halloween grease paints for the face than true cream shadows. I haven't played around with these enough to see how long they would last on the eyes, but the texture is VERY creamy so I would advise using them in conjunction with a powder shadow if you wanted to wear them on the eyes. I feel like these might work best for face painting given the consistency.

There are two repeat colors in this palette. The four corners of the palette contain two shades: in two of the corners there is a white pearl shade with an iridescent glitter overspray, and the other corners contain a black matte shade with iridescent glitter overspray.

Here's a closer look at those two shades:

I tried to capture what the white shade looks like on the skin, but my camera had a hard time picking up the iridescent glitter:

In this blurry pic, you can see the glitter a bit better:

If you have a little girl in your life who is planning on being a fairy or princess for Halloween, this would be a lovely shade to use as a highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones. You can sheer it out so that it looks really sparkly; it's very pretty and "girlie" in real life.

The rest of the shades in this palette are VERY pigmented but can be sheered out easily given the creamy consistency. Each shade is full of sparkle (some shades have irridescent sparkle while others have gold sparkle) and lots of shimmer too. My favorite is the copper shade, which would be amazing to use if you were going to be a cat/tiger/etc.

Notice how there's a true gold (top swatch) that's more of a metallic, while there's also a more "mustard" yellow gold that is more of a shimmer.

And last but not least, my favorite products of the collection:

Kiss of Death Lipsticks in Geisha's Kiss and Black
(retail: $1.99 each)

The black lipstick is a creme that has a sheerness to it (but you can layer for more intensity). Geisha's Kiss is a VERY pigmented red with fine gold shimmer. It's a TAD more pink that what my pictures convey, but let me tell you, this is a gorgeous red regardless of Halloween. It's absolutely stunning for fall/winter.

I didn't use a lip brush to apply these lipsticks, but if I did, the coverage would have been better (and more precise). I did need to layer Black to make it as opaque as you see it above, but two passes on my lips got the job done.

I almost didn't want to post this picture because the color is WAY off. It's not a cherry-tomato red in real life, but more of a red with pinkish-blue undertones. The gold shimmer warms it up a bit, and also gives it a bit more dimension.

When I think of red lipsticks in the Halloween aisle, I think of dry, matte lipsticks that tug at the lips during application. The reason why I LOVE these lipsticks is because they're actually real lipsticks, not just drugstore Halloween makeup. They're smooth to apply, creamy and have nice staying power on my lips. Also, there's very little fragrance or flavor to these.

And finally, here's what it looked like when I layered Black on top of Geisha's Kiss. If you don't already have a black lipstick in your collection, I highly recommend picking one up before Halloween's over. It's just such a handy tool to have around when you want to tone down a bright color and make it more vampy. A few swipes of black turned this lipstick into a beautiful, deep scarlet red in seconds.

I hope this series helps those of you on the search for your perfect Halloween (and beyond) makeup! Have you spotted any of the Fantasy Makers displays in your area yet?

  2. omg the dramatize eyelashes - I need them! The swatches of the shadows are really impressive, I'll want to pick them up too. Definite harvest colors, not just Halloween.

  5. Anyone notice that the two black nail polishes - both have the same number and name - are NOT the same? One of the blacks is a straight black with no glitter while the other does contain glitter. On the sides of the bottle in tiny ink print there are actually two different numbers. I didn't buy the polishes (yet) but noticed that they were not the same.

I'm kind of disappointed with the Fantasy Makers this year only because it's the same as last year. On the flip side, I'm glad the stuff is back because I'm able to pick up a few items I didn't get last year and replace stuff from last year (glitter liners and cream shadows).

Just wish they added new stuff instead of bringing basically everything back.

  6. If the cream eyeshadows are like the palettes from last year( that included the stencils) they make AMAZING eyeshadow primers! I used the heck out of mine. Love ya,G!

  7. I've gone into about 6 drugstores so far (every time I pass one lol) to see if they have the collection, everyone is telling me next Friday, or even the Friday after that, at the earliest :( I did get a nice black Halloween lipgloss from NYC, though, while I was looking.

I really want that cream palette! I always wear those colors, so I wouldn't just be wasting money on Halloween stuff ^.^

  10. I haven't seen any of these ANYWHERE near me yet, and I'm bummin'! Wet n Wild's Halloween stuff is way better than NYC's, and that glitter cream shadow palette is to die for. I'm hoping, since it's already mid-September, my Rite Aid and Walgreens will start stocking this collection soon because it has a lot of products I want to add to my collection. Thanks for the update, G!
