Review & Tutorial: New Broadway Nails "Nail Dress Stick-on Wraps"

When I saw this brand new display at Rite Aid recently, I was so intrigued!

Broadway Nails
Nail Dress Stick-on Wraps
(retail: $5.49)

These new products by Broadway Nails instantly reminded me of that new product by Sally Hansen, but for about half the price. AND there's a tear-pad coupon on this display for an additional $1 off! How could I resist, especially considering I already had $4 in +UP Rewards in my purse? I basically got these for free!

This display includes four different designs (they're hard to see in the above pic, but look at the dresses in the picture--the fabric of each dress is the same as the nail design).

I couldn't resist getting the hippie flower design, and I'd like to walk you step by step through the application and removal process. NOTE: I have never used products like Incoco, etc. before, so this was my VERY first time using a product like this.

If you're like me and have never tried this form of nail product before, let's walk through it together, shall we?

The back of the box tells you everything you need to know about application. After skimming the box, I felt pretty confident about the process.

When you open the box, you get two sheets of "stick-on wraps" (28 wraps total, in 14 different sizes) and one little dual-sided file (the pink side is smooth and used to press out any air bubbles, the black side is an actual nail file, which you use to file off the excess wrap on each nail).

Image 1: As the directions indicate, I first used an acetone-based remover to "prep" my nails and remove any oils. Then, I found a size that looked like it would fit my pinky perfectly, and applied it like you would a normal sticker. Following the directions, I used my fingers to press the wrap in an up-and-out motion, all the way to the tip of my nail. I did see a few tiny bubbles at first, but it was easy to smooth them out with accompanying file (the pink side).

Image 2: After everything was smooth, I took the black side of the file and, in a downward motion, filed off the excess wrap. It's very important to file in a downward motion only, so that the edge of the wrap is smooth and flush with your nail. If you file up and down, the edge could become jagged.

Image 3: I obviously didn't center the wrap correctly (or choose the correct size), because when I looked at the other side of my nail, I saw exposed nail! But that was really the extent of my learning curve, because after that first blunder, I was able to better gauge the size of the wrap vs. how it would actually look on my nail.

Image 4: This is how many wraps I had left after applying them to all ten of my nails. In other words, you will definitely have enough for two full applications (unless you make a lot of mistakes the first time around). Not bad for around five bucks!

The finished product!

Well, I lied. See my middle finger in the pic above? Another blunder. I placed the wrap too close to my cuticle. So that's two mistakes made during my first experience with this product. But hey, I never had to remove a wrap completely and start over, so I'd say that 2 out of 10 ain't bad for my first time!

Now let's look at how these wear:

(Note: I didn't use the yellow polish in the above pictures--I just thought it looked cute to hold it for these pics)

I was incredibly surprised by how well these wore on my nails! I totally expected them to start peeling in less than 24 hours. I am so rough on my nails, but I followed the directions on the box and applied a layer of top coat (Seche Vite) to the wraps and I think that really helped. I didn't see any significant peeling until the middle of third day, and that was only on my dominant hand. I think my other hand could have gone a fourth day and still looked pretty good!
So how easy are these to remove?

Very! All you have to do is start peeling, and they'll come off in one intact sheet. It literally took me probably a minute to remove all ten wraps. There was a tiny bit of adhesive left behind on a few of my nails (others were totally clean with no residue) but it wasn't bad, and bit of remover took it away easily. My nails didn't feel weak or thin or weird after removal at all. They felt completely normal.

If you are a "peel freak" like I am, then you'll love removing these. I love peeling things. I love peeling off my peel-off face masks, I love peeling stickers off of things, I love peeling my nail polish off, I just love to peel. So I thought the removal of these wraps was actually more fun than the application!

Final Verdict: I LOVE Broadway Nails Nail Dress Stick-on Wraps! For my first experience with this type of product, I am absolutely impressed and I cannot wait to try them again. For a fun look on a special occasion, I think these would be PERFECT. And you definitely don't have to worry about them peeling off the day you apply them--I think the average gal can get three full days out of them, no problem. Oh, and did I mention they're safe for artificial nails too? I seriously cannot find one thing wrong with these little wraps, except for maybe the selection of designs. Hopefully they'll release more patterns. Soon.

I hope you found this review and tutorial useful! As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  4. I'll be on the lookout for these.

I stopped by a Walgreens on my wait to the Denver airport to return home after a Holiday visit.

Wouldn't you know, I packed my camera and there in the store was the new SH nail polish stickers! At least I purchased one. :) I'm looking forward to trying it out as well.

  8. Wow, these are definitely interesting - they also remind me of the Sephora brand nail decals that they sell here in Canada for $20.

If I ever see any of these around here, I'd definitely want to try them and pick them up.

    Thanks for sharing (:

P.S - I totally LOL at your "peeling" comment, I think you forgot to mention peeling off dried glue on skin! :P

  9. These look fabulous. Too bad I don't have any Rite Aids in my area, but hopefully they will pop up other places soon. And I totally get you about peeling. I'm a peeler, a popper, and a picker. Bad, I know :(

  11. I really want to try these! I would get the SH ones if it weren't for the price, but I have a hard time paying $10 for one whole bottle of polish. I'm cheap. :)

  13. ha! I love peeling too! I have made sure that the last three manis I did for myself were extra thick so that I could peel them off. Why is it so entertaining? Why do I feel rewarded when I can peel off one nail in one piece?

  15. I love the broadway nails stick-on wraps! The same quality as higher price fake minx aka finx. lol. I have used all of them (minx, sephora, sally) and broadway nails gets the job done exactly the same. Plus i like the file it comes with.

  20. I can't WAIT to get my hands on these, or rather these on my hands (har har har!). I'm currently wearing the Sally Hansen version which I'm loving so far, but you only get 16 strips with those and you're right they cost about twice as much.

I'm wondering though if you can put top coat on these kinds of products? Does it make it last longer, shinier?

  21. Now I seriously, seriously want these! I'm sooo bad at applying nail polish, but I would love to try these out!!
