Swatches: Wet n Wild Bite the Bullet & Club Havana

I'm so confused about some of these new(er) Wet n Wild products. For instance, the two colors I'm about to show you are not brand new, yet several drugstores in my area don't carry them because there is no slot for them in the core collection display. Yet, they're listed as core collection colors on the WnW site, so I guess it will just be a matter of time until all core collection displays have been modified to make room for these shades.

So for those of you who don't yet have access to these new(ish) core collection shades, here you go! Oh and by the way, I purchased these at my local Walgreens, and they were just sitting on the counter in the new product section (not really in a display, but off the to the side).

Wet n Wild Mega Last Nail Color in Bite the Bullet (retail: $1.99)

As you can see, this is a dusty mauveish-lavender creme and i just LOVE it. These pics were taken after two coats (no base or top coat). The formula is smooth and easy to apply, and I really love these Mega Last brushes. For my particular nail beds, they make for one of the cleanest applications I've ever encountered, even when I'm painting my dominant hand, which is usually a trainwreck.

I was hoping that Bite the Bullet might satisfy my deep desire to purchase Essie Demure Vixen (from the Essie Summer 2010 collection). But looking at Polish or Perish's lovely swatches, they're not even close. I mean, I knew that Demure Vixen had a violet shimmer running through it, while Bite the Bullet is a creme, but I was still kind of hoping that owning Bite the Bullet might lessen my desire to own Demure Vixen. Oh well.

But don't get me wrong--I LOVE Bite the Bullet for what it is. Even though I am still hopelessly obsessed with all things greige, I think Bite the Bullet is kind of like a purple version of greige, if that makes sense. It's nice to feel a bit more feminine but still give off that sleek greige vibe.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Nail Color in Club Havana (retail: $1.99)

I've said it so many times here that the Mega Last shade Tropicalia is my favorite coral ever. But when I saw Club Havana, I just had to have it. Club Havana is an orange-based coral, whereas Tropicalia is a pink-based coral. Both are very pretty and, the longer I wear Club Havana, the more it seems to morph from an orange-creamsicle type of orange to a tangerine type of orange.

The one thing I don't like about Club Havana is that it goes on pretty streaky (the above pics were taken after two coats with no top coat). If you look closely, you can see the streaks. I didn't have time to do a third coat when I did this mani, but I'm hoping that three coats will even it out a lot more. Do any of you own this shade? Is it streaky for you?

That's it for my latest WnW acquisitions. What are your faves from the Mega Last line?

  3. I'm loving the Bite the Bullet. How does it compare to Rimmel's Steel Gray? It looks like it might be a lot more purple, but then again, you never quite know . . .

  4. Bite the Bullet looks like a good alternative to OPI Parlez Vous OPI?

I'll have to check these out :)

  5. Your mani always looks so perfect! How do you not get polish on the skin around your nail?

  6. I love bite the bullet, and I WILL have it one day! lol No really, it looks great on you and I much prefer it to demure vixen, which is weird since I do not generally like cremes. Shimmery is my favorite, I don't like chunky glitter, but want a little pizazz. Demure vixen is just too demure and bland for me, but I don't have to worry about having a mani that is conservative enough for the workplace either, and I think that one would be great for the office.

(G, sorry for blathering on so much whenever I show up here. I don't have my own makeup blog -yet- to blather on there. lol)

  7. Oh I forgot, the only WnW polish I have is from the Color Craze line, it's the brown one, Rustic. I haven't tried it out yet, but your swatch convinced me that I must have it. I need to go back for Morbid too. What I really really want are some of the limited edition ones, the ones that are named after Caribbean islands, but even though I practically live at CVS, my CVS doesn't carry WnW!

  10. Bite the Bullet is the exact shade of nail color I've been looking for. It's an awesome "transition" shade from late summer to early fall.
