The Wednesday Question

This week's question is a fun one, so I hope you'll leave your response in the comments!

What is the most bizarre beauty term you have ever heard/used?

In other words, if you were to say this term to someone OUTSIDE the beauty community (a boss, relative, stranger on the street) which word would get the most raised eyebrows or weird looks? There are so many beauty-community-specific terms that sound so odd to me, but I think my pick would be "Dusty". Imagine saying, "Hey, I found a good dusty last weekend and I scored big time!" to your boss. Hahah! So what beauty term would you consider to be the strangest for someone outside our community to hear?

  1. Franken Polish. I was trying to tell a co-worker about my franken I made the other day and she gave me the funnies wtf look ever!

  2. I don't know if it has a name, but using the tin foil method to remove nail polish. The husband grins and giggles when I duck waddle around the house with foil on my toes.

  3. Lemming. I never heard that used in the context of wanting something until I started reading polish blogs. Just thought they were little furry animals. :)

  4. Using the word "porn" when talking about makeup photos. (e.g. Stash porn)

Using "frazzle" when talking about one's raggedy cuticles.

Both earn me some weird looks :D

  5. oh too funny, I've never heard of any of these mentioned above me! 'HD Powder' was the first that came to my mind. Or if I mentioned "primer" to a non-makeup person, I'm sure they wouldn't know what I was talking about!

  8. Haha, there are a lot! No one outside of the online beauty community has any notion what "Project 10 Pan" is... I tried to explain to a friend that I was trying to use up some things, and she was like, "Why? Doesn't that just mean that you'll have to go buy more? I hate running out of things!" Haha, I guess she doesn't have 25 body washes or 6 bottles of shampoo in her bathroom!

Also loved when people on MUA were trying to find the Sonia Kashuk duo fiber (skunk) brush and it was known as the "skunkicorn". LOL
